Who: Narcissus and Echo
What: Narcissus runs into Echo at the pro and proceeds to try and manipulate her feelings
Where: Park.
When: Mid-Afternoon
Rating: None</br>NotesLog reads backwards
The fact that she had spent time away from him, trying to lance that string that held them both together. He hated her for it because he couldn't lance it himself. He'd tried and yet she haunted him like a ghost. How dare she be such a horrible thing that he couldn't get rid of. A cancer that he couldn't cut out from inside him. So he continued to pamper her affections because it meant he'd win her back, and that would make him shine.
He snapped a few shots and then took more from a different angle, caressing her with the attention he knew she craved. The wind kicked up and blew her hair in her face, and he reached out to brush it from her cheek.

No matter how much of an ass Narcissus was, Echo could not help but love him. Over the years she had grown apart from him in some ways, had become less in love with him, distant enough to see how for who he was. But in the here and now he was so soft. So gentle. He hadn't attacked her. Not in the way he had online. Maybe that was a front and he had decided to come round and be good to her rather than cold. It was very awkward posing, but the other photographer had worked with her so that she understood how to be. Echo was a natural. That's what she had been told.

He knew what very little would do to encourage her. "There," he had the look he wanted, an artistic visionary with every detail. He touched her hand, a soft motion on her wrist to make sure her heart rate was starting to climb. The more he saw her physically respond to him, the more he knew she would be grounded to him.
He watched her face for any change, dilation in her eyes, and he nursed that desire she had for someone who was far more hollow inside.

Echo allowed this little show to go on. Even though he had always been nothing but horrible to her, she still wanted to believe he could find something of beauty in her. She still felt defensive now, but the delicateness in his touch made her knees feel very weak as she allowed him to pose her.

By showing her an ounce of something not so harsh, Narcissius realized it pulled her into his web. He could use her like this and destroy her later. It might be amusing for him to do.
He touched her, tilting her head a little, getting a moment captured in time instead of a glorified photograph. Only an artist could capture true beauty and let it shine for what it was. He denied that he saw anything beautiful about her.

Echo felt awkward about all of this. It was completely new to her for him to treat her with any amount of kindness. It threw her for a loop. She sat on the bench, glancing at him every now and then for instruction.

He could have been fooling her or himself for that matter. He'd told himself this was for the sake of his photography, but maybe his own sick and twisted curiousity----because when Echo showed up it disrupted his whole world. Without her it was just as strange, but now with a physical presence it shoved him into a mental place he wasn't used to or no how to deal with. He'd rather show her an inch of kindness of it meant being able to manipulate her later.
He motioned for her to follow him to another sunny patch and placed her on the bench. He would ignore the fact that at some angles she wasn't quite as hideous as he'd once believed.

Echo stared at him for a moment, unsure whether he was playing games with her or if he actually meant what he said. He couldn't blame her for being suspicious. After about a minute she set her bag on the ground and motioned to him, giving her permission.

He wasn't going to let that hack give her a subpar photo shoot. He'd do it properly. "Yes," he said to her, angry if she decided to turn him down. She couldn't, could she?

Echo stopped abruptly, just about to walk right into him. She backed off like before, looking much more disgruntled at his actions. Then her expression turned from frustration to confusion as she looked from him to the camera and back. She thought there must be some sort of trick behind this and motioned to the camera as though asking are you sure?.

"Wait...."he breathed out to himself more than her. As much as he despised her, hated her for being linked to him, she was still a constant thread that he almost needed to stay afloat. He cleared his throat and walked after her, putting himself ahead of her. He held up his camera in truce, asking if he could take more pictures of her. Whatever that photographer had done of her before was disgusting. She should let him show her how to capture a real image and the beauty within it.

Echo crossed her arms, looking rather cross with him as though would a child for doing something they knew they weren't supposed to be doing. Still frowning, she shook her head. She then gave him a wave and turned to leave. She had absolutely no desire to be around him if he was going to be cruel.

"Cat got your tongue?" He wanted to hear her open her despicable mouth. He wanted to push her away and fall at his feet at the same time. It wasn't in him to be nice except in manipulating others. Right now he was just angry that she had appeared and reminded him of how he couldn't exist without her.

Unfortunately for Echo, she wasn't able to pack up fast enough. She had just zipped up her bag when she caught the sight of shoes stop in front of her. Luckily she still wore her earmuffs, which muffled the sound of his voice and protected her from having to repeat him, or anyone else. She took a few steps back so that there was some space between them. Echo frowned as she read his lips and slung her bag over her shoulder. She wished she could speak of her own will.

When he finally saw who he'd been subjecting his camera to, Narcissus face turned sour. How dare she decide that she could still breathe the same air as him. Everything about her got under his skin because he could not cut her from him. She was a cancer growing on the inside that was now too advanced to ever cut away. When she turned from him it only upset him further. She wasn't going to get he opportunity to walk away as if he didn't exist. He wanted to tell her to her face how much he loathed her. Except when he looked at her he felt himself stumble over his thoughts, which was despicable. "I should have known you 'd come out of hiding." Detesting her was better than thinking anything more about her.

Echo used the lens to scan the area. She had taken photos of pretty much everything she had seen. She wanted to be certain she had gotten as much as she could before packing up. It was when she was scanning that she saw him. Her heart gave a little flutter. Surely it was just some mortal taking pictures, just the same as her. It was a coincidence. He was scanning the area too. Nothing more.
She lowered the camera, blinked to clear her eyes, and brought the camera back up to look at the man one last time. She had to make sure it was just a stranger innocently taking pictures like her. It wasn't strange for there to be several photographers out here at once. It wasn't until he lowered his own camera that her breath caught in her throat. Of all the faces in the world, she knew his the best. Her previously focused face was now full of worry. Their meetings never ended well. She hurriedly put her camera away, deciding she had done enough, and that she needed to get out of there as quickly as possible.

The world was far from beautiful, one had to look through a lot of disgust to find something redeemable about it. At least that was how Narcsissus saw it. Little else was important except what was important to him.
He took a step or two closer, letting be the light cascade against her face. Her eyes were two dark orbs, that in the light turned a little amber. He still hadn't picked up on who he was looking at. He would feel like a fool after, sure that she'd bewitched him.

As usual, Echo was out taking her own photos. With each season came its own beauty, even when it was blisteringly cold outside. So far winter had been rather mild, so it wasn't unbearable to be outside. Echo did wish it would snow and give her some better photo opportunities. She didn't intend to be out too long, having arranged another session with her new photographer friend. It was the first thing she had been excited about in a long time. Something to be proud of that boosted her confidence. Of course, with only just finding out that the counterpart in her stories was there and being just as mean and cruel to her as ever she was feeling less confident than before. They had drifted in and out of each others lives, the results almost always the same: Him running from her as though she was a hideous monster. It had been quite some time since the last time they had crossed paths, and over the years Echo had gained quite a lot of confidence in herself and her abilities.
Echo was unaware of someone taking her picture. She was much too preoccupied with various people in the distance, passerby as they came and went, animals that skittered by. It made her happy to see the world through her lens.

The cold outdoors was unbearable, but Narcissus couldn't foresee himself spending the entire day indoors. The sun was out, so hopefully as he waited for midday, it would warm up. The sun was the perfect backdrop for natural looking photos, before the sun started to set. He took to the park, steering clear of the homeless and nasty looking specimens that walked their dogs. Pets were a nuisance. It was another mouth to feed, something to quell lonliness. It was pathetic. Anyone who sought out companionship for any length of time was insecure with themselves.
He snapped some photos, using the shade of a tree as it draped across a young woman. He'd yet to really focus on her features which were fair. Her light hair glistened in the sun, reminding him of a time when he too was a fair blonde. He'd never admit she was in anyway attractive, he was simply working a composition that she was a part of, and for a moment he was lost in it.
