WHO: Mary Magdalene & Huitzilopochtli WHEN: Sunday night ( 2011-07-04 ) WHERE: Huitzi's place WHAT: Oh no you didn't. WARNINGS: Yelling mostly.
Mary didn't like the Queens of Hell. On her list of Hell Spawn Who Needed To Stay Far Away they were high up on the list, a lot of that because they shared similar sexual natures - although Mary would never be (thankfully) something that had to feed off sex like they did. Mary just found comfort and companionship in sex.
And now love as well, which was why she was furious as she stalked to her Aztec's home. She didn't knock today, storming right into the building. Two of the warriors spotted her and were coming over but Mary just held up a hand and snapped, "save it, kids."
She found Huitzilopochtli in the bright room filled with his birds and as soon as she spoke her voice was filled with indignant rage. "I have loved exactly two men in my very long life," Mary began, without even waiting for him to say anything and without even saying hello. The words had been tumbling around in her head the entire walk there though and now she couldn't even stop them if she'd wanted to. "The first one I had to watch die in the more horrible and torturous way that I know. I stood below him while he died, slowly, and I watched him cry and suffer and it almost killed me as well. When Jesus died, it left nothing of me. So don't you dare be angry at me for not being able to watch that again, because they will do it. They'll kill you and I'll have to see it all over again, and I can't do it. I can't lose you as well." She was still angry, but somewhere in the middle of her rant her eyes had gotten blurry and she wiped those tears away quickly, sniffing hard.
He'd asked not to be seen by anyone. He wanted to be alone, with his birds, and his own turbulent emotions. When Mary had appeared he'd wanted to tell her to leave, but then she'd started to talk. Her tears made him look away, but he as still angry himself and only walked to her when she was finished.
"I am, possibly, twice your age. I have lived longer then you. I have seen two empires fall, and witnessed my own crumbling. Your Christians did that. Did you really think they did not tear us down? Do you not think I haven't watched as they took innocent men and women and made examples when they did not want to pray to a distant god they knew nothing of? I have been helpless. I have been at the mercy of your Christians before. They would not be the first to delight in bringing a foreign god to his knees." He looked down to her then, "I am well aware of how weak I am. I do not, ever, need it being thrown in my face. If they fight me, I fight back." He took a step back, "a dying sun explodes. I do not like this slow death. I'm a warrior."
He turned aside then and sighed,"I have always protected those I consider mine. You told me they'd tortured you. What did you expect me to do?"

[info]gospel_of_mary 2011-07-04 05:35 am UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Mary had forgotten about his history with her kind. She'd made this all about her because Mary, in general, was good at making things all about her. She ran a hand through her hair with a sigh of frustration. "I didn't expect you to go walking into the arms of death," Mary groaned, "which I see now is my own fucking fault, because of course you would and I should have kept my mouth shut, but you asked why I hated them and I told you. I didn't want-"
She turned her back on him, taking a few deep breaths. "I need you," she finally said, a shake in her voice. "I hate how much I need you, how deep you've found your way inside me. But I'd do anything now to stop them from hurting you. God, why did I have to go and fall in love with someone just as proud and reckless as myself!"

[info]bluehummingbird 2011-07-04 05:51 am UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Warrior as he was, she was his main weakness, his one thing where he'd crumble and put aside his anger. Even now, even though he felt it just under his skin, her words and actions made it less. IT was foolish and could ruin it, but without it he felt oddly empty. She'd brought something in his life he now needed.
Something told him that was probably not a good thing.
Still he stepped forward and set his hand to her shoulder, letting her keep her back to him, and toying with her hair. "You are like me, a bright ray. Sometimes I wish I'd met you first. You would have been a sight back in the days of my glory." He leaned down and kissed her shoulder, "even though you would have never seen me." He drew back, no longer touching her. "My heart is yours, you know that. But they hurt you Mary. My instinct is to hurt them back. I was born in death, it's all I know. But I won't taunt an enemy I cannot bring down. That much I learned from Cortez."
Gently he went to set his hand on her chin, to lift her head to his, "but allow me the illusion I'm still part of what I once was."

[info]gospel_of_mary 2011-07-04 06:16 am UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select His touch brought her comfort, but also reminded her exactly of what she would be losing. She didn't tell him that she was sure he could take out a hell queen, that their strength must be close enough. Killing a queen would bring the wrath of Lucifer and Satan though, and he stood no chance against either of them.
She didn't tell him that in his glory days she wouldn't have been much at all, still trapped to much in the image of repentant prostitute to be any interest to him.
Instead all she said, looking up at him as he touched her face, was, "I don't know what I would do if I lost you." Her voice was a whisper and the pleading was clear. "Please don't make me go through that, I love you too much."

[info]bluehummingbird 2011-07-04 06:36 am UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select She was asking him to back down, when he never had. Asking him not to go after thing who had already hurt her. But perhaps he could do as she asked, and not loose face for himself. Not the direct target, but it's minions. Cripple it, then take it down. So he smiled and set his free arm around her waist and his head on her shoulders. "I still have many years, I won't go after your demons."
Smiling he released her but remained close. " You are everything ," he then whispered to her in his own language, " but you will leave me before I ever leave you. " Then he smiled and walked in front of her, pressing something in her hand. "Stay if you like." He switched back to English then, "they have dinner I believe. I do not like arguing with you. You know my weakness."

[info]gospel_of_mary 2011-07-05 04:32 am UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select "Thank you," Mary whispered, relieved to have his word that he wouldn't follow through with the threats. Hopefully Lucifer and his whores would also forget all about him. (Mary didn't presume that she was that lucky. When it came to the other side, Mary had never been all that lucky. It might have had something to do with the fact that she spent half her existence taunting the demons and the other half actively going after them with an intent to kill.)
She watched him as he spoke in his own tongue, knowing that whatever he said she didn't want to hear. (But she did.. She wanted to know what was being kept from her.) She looked down at the beautiful ring he'd just given her and then closed her hand tightly around it. She wasn't a girl who needed pretty things, but it was from him and that made it special.
She smiled at him gently. "And you know mine: it's you."

[info]bluehummingbird 2011-07-05 04:45 am UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select "Funny, same goes for me." He'd never had a weakness before and he worried for that. If or when his sister ever showed her face again, he dreaded what she might try. Coyolxauhqui wasn't strong, and he hoped weaker then him, but she'd been an enemy for so long it was hard to not worry.
He set his hand on her cheek and smiled to her. He had no clue what the appropriate response was after a fight so he just lowered his hand.

[info]gospel_of_mary 2011-07-05 04:49 am UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select There was pride in that she was Huitzilopochtli's weakness as well, although she'd never admit it out loud because she knew how it would make her sound. Still it was true enough.
When he lowered his hand from her cheek, Mary moved closer and kissed him gently, letting her lips linger against his. This wasn't the fire of passion, just a moment of tenderness.

[info]bluehummingbird 2011-07-05 05:09 am UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select It was easy, far too easy now, to respond to the kiss and to set his hands around her and keep it for a while. He did everything with the bright intensity of the sun he used to be, love was included in that.
He drew back from the kiss, but kept her close. He wished mortals were kinder and he could ask her to just be his, but he couldn't ask that any less then she could ask him to stop the human sacrifices done in his name.
