It took a lot longer to get back to the car than it had to dash away from it. The driver's door was still slightly ajar, since he hadn't really stopped to close it properly. He put Temperance back gently onto her feet and leaned her against the car as he opened the passenger side door.
"You're sitting next to me so that I can keep an eye on you," he said gently, helping her to slide into the seat, and pulling the seat belt around her. "I'm going to get you home and wash off this mud and put you to bed." He pressed another kiss to her cheek, and firmly closed the door. Once he was back in the driver's seat he carefully pulled out of the carpark, driving like his passenger was made of glass.
