"I think so too," Roxanna agreed. "I don't need him in my life to be happy, so I'll make my own without him. Since he didn't even stick around for my mom's pregnancy."
That made her smile, embarrassed but pleased. "Oh, well. Thank you. I never really, you know...banked on my looks, you know?" she said, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "I was more interested in my drums when girls my age were fussing with their hair and clothes."
"It's like The Iliad threw me inside," she laughed. "But it sounds like the 'nod and smile' approach would be best here, I take it?"
