Roxanna followed, a bit dubiously. She sat on the edge of the chair, curling her fingers around the mug, almost trying to leech the warmth from it. "OK. Kate, then," she replied.
She sighed, sipping her coffee. "I wound up here by accident," she said. "Went the wrong way while trying to get away from an asshole." Which was more or less the truth, but the whole truth weighed heavy on her tongue. "And he said I looked cold and lost, said I could come in out of the wind and have some coffee." She shrugged. "Nice to know the world isn't full of jerks, I guess."
