WHO: Euterpe & Zeus
WHEN: Sunday night
WHERE: Zeus' apartment
WHAT: Poor poor disillusioned little muse wants daddy to make it aaaaall better.
Euterpe had always had such faith in her father. She had been loyal to him when they'd lived on Mount Parnassus, needing no excuse to sing the most beautiful of songs to his glory, and she remained loyal even today when so much had changed and been lost. Yes, he could be a unyielding rock of a man, but that was fair: he was the King of the Gods. He was the ruler of all and that wasn't a role that allowed softness very often. She knew that Zeus did what had to be done when no one else had the strength to do it, even when it seemed like it would make others angry. A King must act as King, Euterpe knew this, and she had raised her voice to him at every opperunity. Even now when he'd added a mortal profession to his already kingly duties and thus had little time to see them, Euterpe made sure to send him CDs of herself sometimes. Hymns to Olympus, to the glorious days of old, to his deeds, to her love of him. Euterpe was a muse eternally loyal to her king father.
Which was why it hurt so much inside her heart as she rode the taxi to his home on Sunday night, having heard what had happened between him and Thalia.
Thalia wouldn't lie to her, but Euterpe couldn't let go of the idea that wires must have got crossed, that it had to be some sort of accident, or misunderstanding, or confusion. And she knew that she wouldn't be able to sleep or think or sing until she knew the truth.
And so she stood outside his apartment in the wind, her coat flapping around her, pressing against the buzzer for a long moment and waiting, hoping he would be home and that he would talk to her.
