WHO: Greed and Zoe
WHEN: Thursday (After her meeting with Theseus)
WHERE: Zoe's apartment
WHAT: Loopholes and loud discussions
WARNING: Violence against tea
Zoe was confused and concerned about what Theseus said but maybe there was an explanation. Maybe one of the Sins tangled with him because of personal beef. She looked at her phone at the slew of texts Greed sent her and after seeing the first few, she got the gist. She texted him without checking the rest that she was done and going home. It didn't take her long to get to her building since it was close to the cafe and she was trying to stay calm and think about how she was going to ask Greed what her grandfather was talking about. Plus, she needed a little time to process that intense coffee she had with him. She dropped her bag in the living room along with her boots and went into her bedroom, just wanting to grab some jammies and a cami.
_____________________________
Greed had wasted no time after hearing from Zoe to high tail it to her place. He'd curled up in her bed when his impatience word thin and under the covers. She had a lot of explaining to do, but he'd fallen asleep waiting.
_____________________________
If Zoe had bothered to check all the texts she'd know that Greed had announced he was coming over but she had not. She threw her jammies and the cami on the bed, which had been unmade so she didn't notice the lump under the covers and then took off her thin cover up. She was lost deep in thought as she unbuttoned her shirt slowly since one hand was still mangled and walked towards the bed.
_____________________________
He shuffled softly under the covers, still a lump of covers and pillows. He wasn't awake until she sat on him and he let out a yelp. "Hey!" There was no reason to sit on his head.
_____________________________
She half screamed because that was the last thing she was expecting as she jumped up and grabbed the fronts of her shirt to close them and hold them close to her chest. She looked at him in a panic and then let out a huff of relief, "Chance!" she shoved him with her casted arm, "What're you doing!?"
_____________________________
Sleepy eyes peeked over the comforter as he slid it down off his head. He sat up rubbing his eyes, "I told you I was coming!" Had she missed that too in the middle of her lunch.
_____________________________
Her hair fell in her face as she looked at him, "When??" then stopped, she hadn't checked most of his texts.. she pressed her lips together and then threw her hands up, her shirt falling open showing her bra underneath and naked tummy. "Well.... still! I didn't expect you in my bed!" she was agitated and taking it out on him.
_____________________________
He rubbed his eyes again. She was still a little blurry. He couldn't tell what was skin and what was clothing. It was all a jumble around her hair and big brown eyes. "I sent you like twenty messages." It had been more like fifty. Finally he could start to see more sharpened images and he could see the angry look on her face. "Why are you pissed at me?" his voice hitched a little higher. "You were the one that ran off with granddaddy dearest! And how did that go?" He started to look her over for any breaks in her skin.
_____________________________
She moved to the left then the right, pacing like a hamster in a cage, "It was.. weird. It.." she ran a hand up her face and back over her head, getting the hair out of it, "He said something I hope is a lie.." she stopped and faced him, keeping her eyes on him as she sat down on the bed, "He said one of your sisters got into a big fight with Poseidon...."
_____________________________
"Would you sit down, you're making me dizzy." He flapped the comforter at her like a net trying to reel her in. She had a way of boring holes into his retina's because at that moment even the best lie wouldn't have convinced her. He cleared his throat. "She did?" he didn't have convincing surprise in his voice. Wrath had taken his bait and done the dirty work he couldn't do.
_____________________________
She gave him a look, "He said they destroyed the parking area. Chance... please tell me he was mistaken and some other immortal with separate beef was the one to tangle with Poseidon. Because you promised me..." she was incredibly tense as she waited for his response.
_____________________________
He winced at the accusing tone. "Maybe?" he shrugged but it was obvious he was holding on to something without knowing how to say it. It was going to spill out eventually, and she'd be even more angry.
_____________________________
She let out a huge breath and hung her head for a moment, "Okay good... so.." she looked at him, "So none of your sisters mentioned a tussle with Poseidon and it was probably someone else, right?" her grandfather had to be wrong, he just was trying to rattle her.
_____________________________
He tapped his hands agains this legs. This was his big itch, he had to tell her and he hated that he had to. He hated that power she had over him. It wasn't natural that he shouldn't be able to lie. It was part of who he was. "Maybe...." he said again, his voice losing that ability to sound honest. Greed closed his eyes tight and then it just flooded out. "ImayhavesaidsomethingtoWrathandshejustw
_____________________________
She looked at him with confusion but her eyes bugged out when he got done. "You..." she shook her head and rubbed her face, "You told your sister and she flipped out and went after him? Did you tell her not to?" from what he was saying it sounded like Wrath did this on her own, not that he asked her to.
_____________________________
"I may have asked in a brother to sister way?" he really squeaked that out. "You said I couldn't touch him. I didn't. But he couldn't just walk away from that Zoe!" He couldn't let him get away with it. "She already was pissed at what he'd done. We're family Zoe." It didn't make it okay, but he would still plead his case.
_____________________________
"You asked!?" she stood up again really fast and looked at him in utter disbelief. "Firstly, is she okay? And secondly, you're trying to use a technicality to get out of this? Does your sister doing it really change the fact that Poseidon is probably going to be pissed and want revenge?"
_____________________________
"She's fine! I think...." he barreled out of the covers not catching her before she stood back up and he flopped stomach first onto the mattress and nearly off the bed as it was smaller than a prison cell bed. "He's not going to come after us. Wrath can fuck people up real good." That wasn't okay, but she'd needed the practice and he'd needed Poseidon to know he wasn't going to fuck with his stuff.
_____________________________
"He won't be fucked up forever!" oh god oh god oh god... what happened when Poseidon got over being beaten up by--- 'Which sister did it? It was Wrath wasn't it." she knew Pride and him weren't as close. "God!" she said in a big frustrated huff and snatched her pajamas off the bed and stormed off, slamming the bathroom door when she got inside.
_____________________________
"Well he's not here right now! She's okay..." at least he thought so. He probably should go see her at some point, make sure and all because words on a computer screen didn't always signify being OK. Greed scrambled out of the bed and sailed his way towards the bathroom where she locked the door. He shook it multiple times trying to loosen it up. "Zoe, what the fuck. Open the door!"
_____________________________
She shouted through the door, "I'm changing, do you mind! And I don't wanna see you right now anyways!" she took off her top and worked on her pants as she still fumed.
_____________________________
Greed wiggled down to the floor, flattening himself out so that he could get a peek from under the door. There was a good inch or two between it and the floor, but still he couldn't see anything. He flopped on his back, trying to look from another angle. "Come on!" His arm wouldn't go under. Was there a window in there? He didn't remember seeing one. Fuck.
_____________________________
"Do you know how stupid I looked today?" she shouted again through the door, "Defending you to my grandfather at every turn, telling him how we just were glad this was over because of the nightmare that we went through!" she hurled her jeans into the hamper, "And then he tells me about this Sin fight so casually as if it's something he thinks I should know and I should have known!" she put her hand on the counter and took a deep breath.
_____________________________
"Why were you with him anyway? You waited to tell me when I couldn't do a damn thing about it. As if I'm supposed to sit back and wait?" He didn't like Theseus sniffing around, he had a secret agenda. Greed was certain of it. Even with Poseidon 'gone' for the time being. "What if he'd dropped you off somewhere without your phone or anything. What was I supposed to do? You never even RESPONDED to me. I even called and had no answer." He was turning this around on her because that's what Greed did best to deflect the real issue. They were hiding things from each other now and he didn't like it.
_____________________________
"Because he's my grandfather and he said sorry a bunch and said he wanted to try to fix this and I believe him and I knew if I told you that you'd try to stop me...." which was exactly why he hadn't told her about Wrath and Poseidon. But she was still mad! She got on her jammies and her cami and opened the door to look down at him on the floor, "I let you know two minutes before I met with him so in case something did happen you'd know, I never promised I wouldn't see him, you promised and then," she stepped over him since he was blocking the way by being a Greed rug, "You kept it from me!"
_____________________________
"And saying sorry makes it okay?" He sat up on his elbows. "I didn't keep it from you I was just waiting for the right time to tell you." But he'd started being silent again like he had about Lust, and he knew the mess that would bring. "I was preoccupied with myself to think about it." He had. Depressed Sin was nowhere within the right mind to talk about his sisters, he wanted to talk about himself.
_____________________________
"No, saying sorry does not make it okay, sorry is just a word." she turned around and looked at him, "But I believe in giving someone another chance if they earned it. I wouldn't be with you right now if I didn't give you another chance." she threw up her hands and rolled her eyes as she continued into the kitchen, when wasn't he preoccupied with himself. "You kept it from me."
_____________________________
Greed got to his feet, stumbling a few times as he followed her around this little hole in the wall for an apartment. "And he earned it?" he sounded so disgusted. "Wrath was pissed anyway, she would have done it without me asking." But he'd asked just the same. He loomed over Zoe like her own shadow waiting for her to turn around and stop this madness. Was it really that bad?
_____________________________
"He's trying to." she took out a mug to make some tea, needing to calm down and basically ignoring his hulking frame behind her. "But you did ask. You promised me you wouldn't go after Poseidon and then you went ahead, found a loophole and then kept it from me. Do you know when people keep things from each other? When they know it's wrong. Poseidon concerned us both. I told you about my grandfather at the last second but I did tell you even though it really doesn't concern you at all." Theseus was her blood family, her problem, her whatever. She told Greed pretty much everything but when he kept things from her it made her not want to tell him anything.
_____________________________
"I don't believe it." Theseus was a rat, he would always stay a rat. "But I didn't go after him! Wrath did," he pointed to the door as if his sister were standing in it. "She wanted to know what he did. He doesn't get away with hurting you Zoe. He doesn't get to get away with taking things from me." Just as he didn't let Theseus get away with hurting her. "No one attacks just one of us unless its us. He wasn't going to just walk away."
_____________________________
She spun around and jabbed her good finger in his chest, "You asked her to go after him. I don't care about any of that other stuff, I care about the fact you promised me and then used a technicality to get out of it. I rather you have just said 'fuck you zoe, i'm going to do what I want' because then at least it's honest and I wouldn't have been happy but at least I'd have known what was going on. When you promise me something and then do something like this, it makes that promise meaningless, it makes every promise you make after that just a 'word' you say. Like saying sorry isn't enough, saying 'I promise' isn't enough, you need actions to back it up. Words on their own mean nothing! They're just IOU's for actions. They're a way of asking for trust." and every time he broke a promise, a piece of her trust in him broke too.
_____________________________
"Just like you not telling me until the last minute that you were going to see Theseus? I am involved. I am your home, your family, your boyfriend, you are mine." They had both broken their promises. "I told you I didn't want you to see him ever without me and you did it anyway. I was protecting you. I was protecting what belongs to me." Both their trust had been torn down the middle. She was right, he knew it. "I was finding a way around it so that I could insure your safety. Wrath too. If you're a part of me, then it's a part of my family." Someone had to take that plunge and make sure that old relic knew his place.
_____________________________
Even though they were both mad and frustrated, it was nice for him to call himself her family and home. They were things Zoe wanted so much and it was a reminder that she had them with him. "Fine, I should have told you sooner that I was meeting him but I did tell you. You promised me and 'found a way around it'. You kept it from me. And let me believe that it was over when you knew it wasn't. Why promise me then? Just to get me to shut up? Am I really that stupid nagging bitchy girlfriend that you felt that you had to do that? And you weren't protecting me, you were just getting payback for yourself. I told you that Poseidon hits you where it hurts. He hit you to break me. And if he wants to hurt you, he'll come after me. There is no end to it then." she moved away from him, rooting through a cabinet for some teabags.
_____________________________
"No, I told you because I wasn't going to go after him. But hell if I was going to sit still. I'm a SIN Zoe, or do you conveniently forget that when shit hits the fan? You aren't a nagging bitch but he touched MY things." And then she dropped a tidbit he hadn't bothered to think of, because Greed didn't always map out everything ahead of time he just jumped. "Then make use of Theseus. If he wants to be something in your life, wants to make amends then he will make Poseidon leave you alone no matter what angle it's coming at."
_____________________________
She slammed the kettle full of water on the stove and took a deep breath, not turning around to look at him, "You're a sin but you're also my boyfriend which means you don't treat me like your target. You don't treat me as someone to con. Or do you conveniently forget that I'm not like the others when it suits you? You went behind my back. Worse, you didn't even tell me after the fact. I had to hear it from him." She left the kettle to boil with the tea bags as she moved to another cupboard, "Theseus would hold Poseidon's coat so it doesn't get dirty while he beats the crap out of me, I don't have any stupid protector fantasies about my grandfather. He has limits." she shook her head, "But you..." she held Greed to a higher standard of trust and respect and that's why what he did hurt more than Theseus not being there for her.
_____________________________
"AND I HAVE MY LIMITS TOO!" He was slinking back into all his old habits. He didn't want to hate her. So he put all his energies towards the main target. He was cracked, dented and putting up a face was the easiest way for Greed to get out of a situation he didn't like. It's how he handled things. He took her boxes of tea and threw them on the floor along with a few other things just to make noise. That's what his head felt like. There were so many conflicting things going on inside he couldn't straighten it out. The biggest thing coming between him and Zoe was himself. "I have to put all that energy somewhere or I'll end up hating you and I don't want to do that." He stormed out of the kitchen but he had no idea of where to go so he just circled a few times before waltzing back into the kitchen. "I can't be this other person around anyone else but you. I can't be just Greed. I lose you, I lose it," he flattened his hands into the air. "I didn't tell you because you'd hate me for it the same way you hated me over Lust." He knew the repercussions of telling her would have been better than this but he still held on to it. He had coned her, not because he'd wanted to but because he'd had to.
_____________________________
She jumped and looked at him with wide eyes when he had a physical tantrum. She put a hand on the counter and leaned back against it but otherwise didn't move, just watched him. She looked at the ground as she thought over what he said and then spoke in a calmer voice, "I hated you over Lust because you didn't tell me. Secrets and lies end relationships and we already have so many people against us, we can't be against us too. If getting revenge on Poseidon is something you have to do to be you, then tell me that. Yes, I'll hate it and I'll be mad but I'll get over it. Don't we always make deals when one of us wants something the other one doesn't? You could have done that. You could have proposed the Wrath getting revenge for you idea. But you didn't. You let me believe it was over, you promised me when you knew I'd trust you if you said that."
_____________________________
"Well I fucked up, but so did you." He strangled his hair with his hands until he'd let out another fit. He needed to sometimes to release the good and bad energy without exploding. "What deal it is you want to make now?" Now that he'd screwed up.
_____________________________
She bent down to pick up the scattered tea and its boxes plus whatever else he threw around, "I don't want to make any deal. The time for a deal was when you knew you were going to go behind my back and ask your sister." they made deals when one wanted something the other didn't and unless Greed could turn back time, Zoe wasn't interested.
_____________________________
"Then what?" He squatted down to pick up a few tea bags, tossing one at her head. The second one he tried to throw down her shirt but he missed. "What do we do now?"
_____________________________
She looked annoyed when he dinged her with a tea bag but she scooped up the rest, "I'm going to have some tea. You can go home and do whatever you like." she gave him a look that clearly implied that she was making a jab about earlier. He didn't feel the need to involve her in his revenge plan so he didn't need her help with what to do now.
_____________________________
"Are you throwing me out?" He stood up not at all comfortable with the cold shoulder. "You're still mad at me?"
_____________________________
She kept cleaning up, "You wanna stay, stay. You wanna go, go. Do whatever it is you wanna do." she poured her tea into the mug, "Why should I be mad? Because my boyfriend lied, went behind my back and didn't trust me?" she picked up her mug and thought about it, "Yeah, I'm still mad."
_____________________________
Greed went to the cabinet to pull out his own cup, slapped it on the counter with his own tea bag. All his movements were frustrated, slamming things, slapping things to make his point. He sat down at the counter, bristled by her. "Are you breaking up with me?"
_____________________________
She sipped her tea and looked at him over the rim of her cup, "That's an option?" she quirked a brow as if she was considering it.
_____________________________
"No!" He said huffy, "are you seriously considering it?" He gasped scooting towards her down the counter to show his annoyance. He slapped his hand over her cup before she took another sip. "Are you serious?"
_____________________________
She was about to take another sip when his meaty hand blocked it. She looked at it, lips still parted in her sip position. She closed her mouth and sighed through her nose as she seemed contemplative, "I don't know. We don't seem to consult each other on decisions anymore so maybe, maybe not." she gently tried to pull her mug away without spilling it on either of them.
_____________________________
His mouth dropped not at all able to believe the words coming out of her mouth. His hand slipped off the cup, but he stood there mouth agape and eyes wide. "Zoe..."
_____________________________
She sipped her tea and looked at him, "Does it matter what I say? I could tell you right now no, I'm not going to break up with you. I could promise you that I won't just to make you feel better. Then a month later you find out I've been saying I'm single. How would you feel? How would you feel that I lied about something important, made a promise I had no intention of keeping, and then I didn't even respect you enough to tell you the truth but you had to hear it from someone else?"
_____________________________
That struck really hard. She was now tangling his intestines out through and around his heart, everything felt weird and jumpy. As much of a face as he wanted to put on he couldn't. He just looked torn, hurt and lost. There were even a little line of tears that sat on his eyelids casually waiting for the drop. He'd been through hell in the last month and yet she was still sticking it to him. She wasn't going to let him use it as a crutch when he wanted her to pamper him. He didn't really have anything he could say in retort, it was just this burning from deep down. He hated her for being able to do that to him. He wasn't even in a deadzone and he was strapped to the ground in that very spot with his face quivering because he had nothing he could say to that. He wasn't just being scolded, he was being stripped down and shown exactly what it felt like to be pushed to his limits when he didn't want them pushed anymore.
_____________________________
She didn't like seeing him so torn but it was what he did to her. He really hurt her when he took such a blow to her trust in him. "But no... I'm not breaking up with you. And I hope you trust me enough to believe me when I say that. And when I promise you that I L word you more than anything, I hope you know me well enough to know I mean it." she sipped her tea and left it at that even though she could say a lot more.
_____________________________
He still stood in his spot as if he was about to break down right there. His eyes went to her hand, the tea then back to her lips. He was relieved to hear that he wasn't getting the boot, but he had to admit that the ground they were standing on seemed shaky.
"I do." The question was did she?
_____________________________
She took another sip and gave a nod, "Good." then shuffled her feet out of the kitchen with her mug of tea. She was so mentally exhausted she felt her body was going to physically break down.
_____________________________
He followed her like the lost puppy at her heels. He flopped down in the couch with his own tea but he watched her waiting for some kind of response. Eventually he just curled up and rested his head against her thigh, legs sticking out off the arm of the couch. "How long are you going to stay mad at me?"
_____________________________
She sipped her tea as she sat there, "How long do you think you deserve to be mad at for?" she wanted to know if he understood. If he knew that he really hit hard by breaking a promise and her trust. She had no one and if she was going to go down this path with Theseus, someone she really did not trust at all, she needed to know that her boyfriend was as good as his word.
_____________________________
As long as she kept this ice queen face he was uncomfortable. She wasn't coddling him at all, she was keeping a distance and he hated it. He could just run off but it wasn't in his nature to just give up. He had to break the ice. This wasnt just an apology she was fishing for.
He poked around for a few minutes with his shirt as they sat in this cold silence. It felt like ages of just frigid air. With his head still rested against her thigh he broke the silence. "I should have told you."
_____________________________
She cupped the mug in her hand as she had done earlier with her grandfather, finding comfort in its warmth. His words made her glance at him but that was it. She took another sip and looked straight ahead, after several long moments finally asking quietly, "Why didn't you...."
_____________________________
He leaned his head up trying to see if she would look at him, but she didn't. It made this so awkward and he couldn't leave like that. "Because I didn't want to be talked out of it. I did con you and I know that's not how we work." He was going backwards. "I feel like I'm slipping...." He knotted his fingers together, looking at them since she was keeping her glance straight ahead. "I was focused on me. If I want us to be a team I have to include you I know...I'm just not used to it when I feel like this."
_____________________________
Zoe could understand that, it's why she didn't tell him about Theseus till the last minute either, she didn't want to be talked out of it. She finally looked at him, her mask of ice cracking and showing how vulnerable she really was underneath. "When you feel like this is when you need to hold on to me more to remember I'm here. I'm with you. Even if it's something I won't like, we have to remember to talk about it." which she knew before her 'talking' was something he rarely did unless it was to get something he wanted.
_____________________________
"It's like a shadow Zoe. Wanting to poison me like before. I've never had anything to pull me out of it but myself." It's why he just wiggled his way around it. "I'm losing you aren't I?" His voice was quiet as he continued to twirled his fingers around each other with some imaginary string. "You don't know if I'm conning you again or telling you the truth." That hurt and he did it to himself. He was doomed to fuck up.
_____________________________
"You have me." and she was upset he didn't know that. She put her tea down on the table and her fingers wove into his nervous knitting and she twined her fingers with his so he could feel her and hold on to her physically. She wanted to deny it but it'd be a lie if she did, so she admitted quietly, "You're not losing me but yeah.. a tiny little part of me doesn't know and I hate that it even exists." she hadn't doubted him in so long and this just felt crushing.
_____________________________
His hands were like glue once she linked her fingers with his, there was no getting her hand back now. He groaned against that, flopping his head from side to side, burying his face into her lap. This was so much worse than her just saying no.
_____________________________
She didn't say anything because that was the sad truth, he dented her trust and it was going to take time to build up to where they were before. Everything had consequences, including this. And it wasn't something she was purposefully doing to him.. it was just how humans and emotions worked. Her other hand was still in a cast so all she could do was let him flail and keep her good hand with him.
_____________________________
He traced the lines in her palm. It was a map of her life. The past and the unknown. He linked their fingers again once he was done still feeling a weight sitting on him. "I still feel like an elephant planted his ass on my chest." It was heavy.
_____________________________
Her fingers curled around his as she asked, "Poseidon getting beaten on didn't make you feel better?" though really there were multiple reasons why he'd be feeling heavy.
_____________________________
"No." He pouted. She had killed the joy, sucked it right out of the air. It had not felt as good as he'd thought. Because the end result was much worse with her not on his side.
_____________________________
"How come?" she asked in the same gentle tone. She wiggled in her seat just to get more comfortable. "What do you think would make you feel better?' she added as a follow up question.
_____________________________
"You stop being mad at me." He sighed flopping his head back to look up at her. "You not thinking I'm pulling a heist to get you to believe me."
_____________________________
She looked down at him, "Do you see the irony where I wouldn't be mad and not thinking that if you'd just been honest from the beginning.." he wouldn't feel as bad as he was right now. She didn't say she was over it, she wasn't.
_____________________________
He stomped his foot against the couch. "Yes...." His teeth gritted through that revelation. He didn't want to admit that, but she was right. He still didn't feel any better, but he wouldn't have learned any better.
_____________________________
She relaxed a little, she could see he'd learned a really important lesson. "I just need time.." the last time he kept something from her was about Lust, she not only broke up with him but it took him five months before she trusted him enough to even attempt to be with him again. She knew she wouldn't be mad come morning... but to rebuild trust, that was just something that happened with time.
_____________________________
"How much time?" His voice tiny. He knew how long it took the last time and this was nowhere near Lust seriousness. At least he didn't think so. Not to mention he'd held onto it for a few weeks not months.
_____________________________
She shrugged a little looking at their joined hands, "I don't know.." it was the truth, "One day at some point I'll wake up and this crack in our trust will have healed. I just don't know when." she leaned down and kissed his forehead, "As for me being mad, probably until the morning, it's why you're sleeping on the couch tonight."
_____________________________
He waited five minutes and then looked up at her hopeful. "Now?" He knew the answer could be know, but he was that pesky kid in the back seat asking 'are we there yet?'
_____________________________
She shook her head, "Nope... and I know it won't be today or tomorrow." she gave him a look that told him to stop asking because he'd drive them both crazy. "Now gimme a kiss so I can go to bed."
_____________________________
"Without me?" He flipped over, on his hands and knees as she continued to rake over him with this ice queen routine.
_____________________________
She nodded, "I told you, you can stay but you're sleeping on the couch. Unless you plan on picking me up and tucking me into bed, you give me a kiss right here so I can go curl up." she wasn't as angry but he didn't get a reward for his behavior.
_____________________________
He was quick to barrel roll her right over his shoulder and carry her back towards the mess of sheets and comforters. He wasn't going to stay out there by himself.
He flopped her down on the bed nuzzling her little button nose with his and then a kiss.
_____________________________
She let out a yelp of surprise, "Chance!" she kicked her feet a little and then oof!ed when he put her on the bed. She narrowed her eyes up at him when he smooched her, "Couch." she shuffled in the bed pulling the comforter up cutting off his access to her body. His body pillow double was on the bed with other pillows too.
_____________________________
Now he was in the doghouse? "How about the foot of the bed?" The he pointed down to his feet after she had given him nowhere to go on the bed. "The floor?" Did it really have to he the couch where he was all alone?
_____________________________
She wrinkled her nose, she didn't like the idea of him on the floor. "No, no.. just take the couch, it's more comfortable than the floor." she turned her back to him as she snuggled into the pillows, "Goodnight, Chance."
_____________________________
"But its lonely out there..." He nuzzled a pillow to his chest and stalked out slowly as if she might change her mind by the time he got to the door. She didn't and he sulked out with his feet dragging the floor.
The couch was far from comfortable. He tossed and turned relentlessly until he finally fell asleep for about five minutes, only to shuffle again and then pass out.

A couple of hours later, Zoe woke since Greed made a lot of noise in trying to get comfortable. It was fine, she wanted some water anyways. She padded barefoot towards the kitchen and stopped when she saw him in the most awkward form of yoga on the couch, half asleep. She sighed and shook her head, god help her she did love him... she gently picked up his foot and untangled it from the back of the sofa and then put a blanket on him.

He made a whine with his mouth closed when she moved his leg but he didn't open his eyes. There was a little bit of warmth from the blanket but it still wasn't enough. He still shuffled around until dropped on the floor with a thud. This was not working at all.

She went wide eyed and looked at him on the floor. Well... okay. She was too tiny to pick him up so grabbed a second blanket from the back of the sofa and draped that over him, putting a seat cushion under his head before she went back to her room.

He mumbled in his sleep, still half dead and drooling on the floor to realize she was really there. She threw down some more warmth, but after about half an hour snuggling the couch leg he shot up with a groan. There were still lines imprinted in his face from where he'd glued his face to the floor and the pillow. Greed stumbled to his feet like a drunk man trying to walk a straight line towards her door. At first he curled up on the end of the bed and eventually curled up against her.

She wasn't surprised when she felt him worm his way into her bed. She was sleeping fine because it already smelled like him since he'd been burrowing in it earlier. She whined in protest when he snuggled her and didn't move, just said "Shoes...." as in to take them off. She wasn't gonna do it for him this time, she was sleepy and emotionally beat up.

Greed kissed her cheek, while still sleepy, perkier since she wasn't booting him on. He flopped off his shoes one foot at a time and curled his arms around her. With her back to him he didn't stay still long before crawling over her so he could snuggle her face into his chest.

She didn't fight him off, just let him cuddle her. He was like a nice cocoon for her, safe, warm, loving. She liked being wrapped up in him. But she still mumbled, "Still mad at you..."
