Even though this was technically baby #8 for her, labor was still fairly unpleasant, and Rhode's adrenaline was spiking. She'd packed a bag and stuck it in the closet a few weeks ago, and she grabbed that, along with her purse, hastily shoving her phone inside as they hurried out the door.
Having Helios help her out to the car helped a lot, because she was afraid she'd tip over every other step. On the drive, she focused on breathing, keeping her heart rate steady, and not freaking out. She'd done this before, she could do it again. And then she'd get to meet her daughter, their first little girl. She was so excited.
