Jamie snorted, he'd walked back into the conversation around the time his dad said it made him feel like Batman.
"Ack, thank you," Maddy said, adjusting to her lighter load. "Like I told them, either I feed them for a month, or my neighbors get casserole dishes in front of their doors. Which is sort of weird." She slit the boxes open with her key, unloading beef stew, tuna casserole, a chicken pot pie casserole, taco pie topped with Fritos, and homemade bread.
The other box had blondies, brownies, cherry and apple pies, and caramel corn. Maddy really hadn't lied when she said she'd gone overboard on the grocery shopping. Cooking was her outlet for stress.
She came back into the living room, smiling at Thomas and giving him a squeeze. "Yay, no tubes!" she cheered. "And your fridge is full of what I hope is goodness now, so you can gain back that weight you lost."
