Jamie laughed too, but not in a mean way. "At least you wouldn't be nauseous and feeling horrible," he added. "Though your pills probably do much the same thing."
Maddy hadn't been with the rest of the group at the hospital, but she intended to try and make up for that now. Jamie had texted her that Thomas was being released, so she'd loaded up two big boxes of food and treats, and gotten a cab to take her to Thomas' building. It was a bit precarious, since she couldn't see where she was going, but she managed to get to the right floor without dropping or spilling anything. (Thankfully she'd had the foresight to tape the boxes shut.)
She had a moment of 'crap, what now' when trying to figure out how to knock. Eventually, she settled for kicking the door gently.
Jamie got up to answer the door, a bit nonplussed at what looked like boxes and a pair of legs, until Maddy stuck her head around them and grinned. "Hey, kiddo!" she said. "I have food. Also, my arms kind of hurt."
Jamie stepped back to let her in. "Hey, Aunt Maddy. Dad, look, Aunt Maddy brought an entire restaurant with her."
