"I did," Serenity acknowledged. "We used to hang out in one of the utility sheds at school and by the time I got there he was on the floor, convulsing. I managed to make him throw up and then I threw water on his face to wake him up. He wouldn't let me call an ambulance so I sat with him all night."
"Sticking your fingers down your boyfriend's throat is so romantic," Thomas said sarcastically. "Not that I remember much of it, but I don't doubt if she hadn't found me I wasn't long for the world."
Serenity shook her head, very much agreeing. "His skin was all grey and it was horrible and I told him he had to stop doing things like that or I would leave him."
Instead of making a snide remark about how she had left anyway in the end, Thomas nodded. "And I did stop. Except weed and nicotine. Didn't stop those until you came along," he said to Jamie.
