Who: Theseus and Poseidon
What: Theseus comes out of hiding
When: Thursday afternoon
Where: Poseidon's office
Warnings: Poseidon :I
In the old days it seemed a lot easier to hide. In a city like New York, there were only few places that Theseus could hide. He'd thought of jumping his boat to sail off somewhere else further away from the city, but he had foolishly given up his boat for a deal with two Sins that had swindled him. He felt it that day that he had caught Zoe and Greed on his boat, the moment the girl hit the water that something was there. The necklace around her neck was far from a fake. He had no idea how, but somehow even his father had been persuaded up until that afternoon. It would be clear that his own son had cheated out of what was rightfully his.
When Theseus had dared to show his face after weeks of hiding (god knows where, probably the gutter as was obvious by the little bit of scruff that had reappeared on his chin) Poseidon was not lenient. First, he offered his boy a drink, pushing it from his desk in front of him. It was a hospitable move which alone was threatening. Poseidon sat upright in his chair, clearing his throat for Theseus to do the same when he slouched. "Have a good trip?" Poseidon waved his hand around in the air. "I assume with the time that you have taken to leave that you actually enjoyed yourself."
Theseus gave a nod, holding the glass under his nose. At least the sting of the alcohol would burn a lot less than Poseidon's fists. Poseidon turned in his chair opening up one of the drawers to take out a box. Theseus cringed thinking that whatever was in it was going to be that locket. It wasn't and the wayward hero took in inward sigh of relief. There was an old ancient Greek coin along with another few artifacts that to anyone else would look like sad relics eaten by barnacles.
"Do you know what these are?" Poseidon asked very casually. Theseus just nodded, setting his empty glass back down on the desk. Poseidon picked up the coin flicking it into Theseus lap. "It's a piece of the trident." He had all kinds of pieces that once built his magnificent trident. A symbol of his power and rule. People had forgotten it over the years, so it had scattered. In piracy days he had not looked for treasure or gold. He had always been looking to collect every piece of this masterful puzzle he had set. He had set Theseus loose to find a piece of it a long time ago when things in Greece started to fall to newer gods and different beliefs. Apparently he had found it, and loitered it off on some mortal to keep. It was not for them to obtain. There wasn't much power in them as broken off relics, but possibly together they could be of use. He had handed off that piece to Triton before to prove that the boy had actually been worthy of holding the power of Sea King. Now, it was his again. It was only if given that his trident could be rightfully taken. Outside of that, his children could never forcibly take it and lord over him. It was a fail safe to keep his throne until he handed it over.
Poseidon poured Theseus another glass of alcohol, still calm and collected as he put the box away. Now was when the locket made an appearance, set in the middle of the desk like a black hole that could have sucked Theseus right in it. "I sent you on a quest as a test of your honor...to me. You broke it once." He drummed his fingers against the marble top desk. "And now a second time. Being swindled by your own son, well, that takes some courage doesn't it?" Now he was just being sarcastic. It was lethal.
As Poseidon got up, coming around the side of the desk Theseus wouldn't even look at him. He just kept a blank stare to the wall ahead. This was going to hurt. One way or another Poseidon would get his hands on what belonged to him.
