"We're trying to train her out of it," Atropos chimed in. "Positive reinforcement. Things like that. Like, yes, it's fine to notice someone's thin. But you don't always have to say something."
"May as well tell the sun to rise in the west and set in the east," Clotho murmured, nibbling at her own biscotti.
"Please do," Atropos continued. "We'd love to meet her."
"I can hear the both of you, you know," Lachesis said, coming back in with a heavily laden tea tray. "I'm not a puppy for either of you to train, and since when has hospitality ever been a crime?"
"It's not," Atropos replied. "But-you know what, never mind. Let's not argue. We're sorry. Tea, Thomas?" she asked, lifting the pot.
