WHO: Miranda & Kat WHEN: Wednesday night WHERE: Their apartment WHAT:
Over the last few days, Miranda had been away at a Pagan retreat outside the city. It had been good for her to get away from it all and gathered with like-minded people. It was true that she spent most of her time either with people who knew about the gods or people who were gods, but that wasn't the same as people who chose the religious path. Miranda's faith in the Egyptian gods had faltered and stumbled when she'd found out the true nature of the world and her own blood, but afterwards she felt it was stronger. Isis and Osiris were her path. It become more complicated to think on when her boss was Hecate and her grandfather was Hermes, but it still worked for her.
It was ten at night and the streetlight outside Miranda's apartment had blown. (The second time in any many months - she hoped this time it would be fixed more swiftly.) She made her way up the stairs and into her apartment, unlocking the door quietly in case Kat was asleep. But even as she put her backpack down on the couch she could hear noise from Kat's bedroom and see the seeping light coming under her door from the TV.
Kicking off her shoes, Miranda padded down the worn hallway carpet and knocked on Kat's door. "Hey, little sister," she said, not opening it until Kat told her she could.
