WHO: Greed & Zoe
WHEN: February 4
WHERE: Zoe's apartment
WHAT: Everything but the actual words
WARNING: Adorables
The smile on Greed's face seemed to span the entire circumference of his head. There was a extra sharpness, his teeth even gleamed whiter than the white of the clouds. The paper Lust had given him he hadn't but glanced at it, wondering what it was she needed with such an item. She usually didn't ask for things unless there was something in it for her.
He had stopped by to see Zoe the two days before and she had been absent. If she made this a disgusting habit he'd have to take more drastic measures.
Stuffing the paper back in his pocket, Greed scaled the stairs of her building. He knocked on the door as if he were rapping out a song. He was bouncy, almost feeling every inch of power when all it had been was a game change.
------
He could knock out an entire musical on the door if he wanted but there still would be no answer. Zoe had told him to call her first to avoid this exact situation but of course when did Greed ever listen. At the end of the hall was a window that looked out on the street, not too far away from Zoe's apartment. If someone happened to look out that window they'd see Zoe down the block (seven stories up was a bitch of a climb but provided a good view). She wasn't alone, Mike was with her, holding her hand as they strolled down the street towards her building.
------
Greed huffed and puffed when there was no answer. He looked around the hallway but still so nothing. He shoved his weight against the door with his back, yanking out his phone to call. When she didn't pick up he growled scaling the seven flights down. He was out on the street in front of the complex. He hung up and dialed the number again which was cleverly nicknamed in his contacts as Sprinkles.
When Greed heard a light ringing coming down the street his mouth dropped. That was his hand to hold! That dropped his big grin immediately as he backed up where they couldn't see him, but he still had them in his visual. He gripped under his breath repetitively, "Don't kiss her, don't kiss her, dont, don't, DON'T!"
------
Zoe checked her phone and was surprised to see it was Greed again. She quickly sent him a text saying she'd call him in a few minutes. Her date with Mike was almost over, it'd be rude to start chatting. They were too far away to hear what they were saying but body language said a lot. The conversation appeared somewhat on the serious side, Zoe asking something with a wave of her hand and Mike giving a long reply, that they were practically till the building by the time he was done. Mike said something quietly to her and let go of her hand, doing his signature move of putting his hands on her hips. Whatever he said caused Zoe's cheeks to turn pink but she wasn't smiling. When he leaned in, she put her hands on his arms and her eyes closed as he kissed her. It wasn't too long, maybe two seconds, but nowhere near a stolen kiss.
------
His mouth hung open, closing quickly with a embedded growl from the depths of his throat. That was his blush! His lips to steal! Why was she letting that prick in for a taste. He punched the air a few times. What felt like seconds for her was forever for Greed. Pushing Mike in front if the bus seemed completely reasonable right now.
-------
Mike said something else to which Zoe nodded to. He dropped his hands from her waist and then pecked her on the lips, much shorter this time before he turned to go. Zoe smiled as much as she could and waved. She sighed just a tiny bit and headed for the front door of her building, planning on calling Greed when she got inside.
------
He'd let her get up to her door and inside before running back up the stairs. He watched Mike with an evil glare.
Racing back up seven flights Greed knocked on her door just as he felt his phone ring back.
When she opened up he looked really disgruntled. "What was that?" He knew right then he was not in board with this boyfriend thing. He wasn't able to compute that dating meant she handled other boys, or they handled her.
------
When she opened up she looked really... confused. She looked at her phone in her hand and then at Greed. That was.. fast. She assumed he meant what just happened with the call and shrugged with a bewildered face, "Really good timing..?" she stepped back to let him in the apartment and smiled, "I"m glad you had the sense to call first like I asked otherwise I'd have been out." and she'd have to hear him pout about it for hours.
------
Greed grabbed her phone instantly. "I called you twice. You didn't pick up." He was thinning through her pictures while he expressed his distaste. "I can't believe you kissed him."
------
Zoe's mouth dropped open when he grabbed her phone, "Hey! I sent you a text that I'd call you right--" she instantly narrowed her eyes with a displeased face when he said the next bit. "How did you... were you spying on me again?" she was kinda used to it but this was more like an invasion of privacy. Like her phone. "Give me that..!" she grabbed for her phone because RUDE, a person's phone was like their diary.
------
His arm swung out keeping her at a distance. When she came closer he gently pushed her away with a shake of his head. "I was not spying. I was outside calling you. And that's what you show me?"
He leaned against the table still thinning through all her personal pictures. There was one if her with that creep which he debated on deleting. "Really?" He squeaked, coming to the one he was looking for. "This?" He turned the phone to show her that picture of him and Lust before slamming his thumb down on the delete button. Then.he handed it back over.
-------
She threw up her hands, "I didn't know you were outside, I told you to call before you came over. I didn't know you--" ugh. He was impossible.
"Greed, this is such a huge invasion of privacy," though she'd done the exact same thing to him after his vegas trip but she didn't delete anything. She immediately sobered when he showed her the picture of him and Lust. She didn't know why she felt like he'd caught her doing some guilty act, she hadn't done anything wrong! She took the phone from him and pressed a few buttons, going into her email, getting something and signing out. She held up the phone and showed him the picture was right back on it. She tilted her head and raised her brows a tiny bit as if to say a delete button would never make what happened go away.
She put the phone in her pocket before he could think of grabbing it again and said tensely with her arms crossed over her chest, "So. Pizza?"
------
Greed narrowed his brows heavily. He reached again but she had pocketed it. He let her waltz around as if she had bested him. His mind was reeling against all the possible things her and Mike had done already and he lashed out. "Why the fuck didn't you tell me you had that?" The same reason he'd been angry at Lust for even sending it. It grated under his skin what would have been had that night not gotten disrupted at every possible angle.
He cornered her then to tell him. He didn't want her to sugarcoat over this with the promise of pizza.
-------
Zoe felt slightly sick in her stomach.. then again, it was never sunshine and rainbows looking at that picture. She stayed calm but was really upset herself and trying not to show it. "What difference does it make?" she asked quietly. Did it change anything? He still slept with his sister. Zoe still wasn't enough. They couldn't be together. That picture hurt like hell when she got it but it opened her eyes, in a way she should be grateful to Lust.
-------
"It makes a difference because you keep things from me now!" He grabbed at her pockets diving for that phone again. "Gimmie that phone." He was strikingly serious in a way that was more casual with her at other times. This was different. This was anger he couldn't get passed with her and Lust by continuing to keep the two seperate. He wanted the two in his life. Lust had flustered his anger and then soothed it with her manipulative plot. She had handed over titles, but Greed was still acting spoiled.
------
Zoe quickly jumped back when he pawed at her pockets, "Are you insane?" she said and moved away from him, refusing to give him the phone. "I'm keeping things from you? You forgot about me for five days after New Years and when you showed up again all you said was you lost track of time. I knew what you were doing but you wouldn't even admit to it. Really nice to know you think I'm that stupid." Zoe wasn't Lust though.. she couldn't soothe him by stroking his ego and handing him meaningless titles. She didn't want to manipulate him. She'd take his feelings, good and bad, as long as they were real.
------
His rage was real. He still had her backed into the corner because he wasn't satisfied with any of this. It was ruining his entire mood that Lust had pacified with a title.
He threw his hands up at the accusation. "Would you like to go one on one with my sister and see how she makes you mental? I did lose track of time!" She wasn't ever going to understand this was she?
Was Sloth completely right? He didn't like thinking so.
Greed flopped on the couch. "You are fucking him aren't you?" He had such double standards of what was right and wrong.
------
Zoe didn't like feeling cornered, it disturbed her when he acted like this. "I don't care about your sister. You were the one that just dropped me for five days and then acted like it was just losing track of time like you were playing parcheesi, not sleeping with her." she stopped because what difference did it make? Except... she had been ready to entertain possibly more with him when he did it.
She looked angry and hurt when he accused her of that, "Do you think that little of me? And really? What difference would it make?" she and Greed were not a couple, she wasn't cheating on him. They couldn't even have sex, did he expect her to stay celibate?
------
All that new power was starting to go to his head, that madness. Lust had played him well, ripping his strings to let him play. Only Greed was going to crush what he adored so much at his own hands if he let it take over all his senses.
There was still so much he had to learn about mortals and their tiny heads and big hearts. They felt more than anything. So fragile.
Greed turned then, nearly climbing off the couch and back up in her space. "I wanted you. For one fucking minute my sister was fucking human and I wanted you." He paced, that dark Sin looming like a cloud. Then his gears switched back to what he'd seen just minutes ago. "Fuck Zoe if you are fucking him...when I didn't even---"
-------
Zoe took a couple of steps back, wary of how he was acting when he got in her face again. "You wanted me for one minute. Great." was she supposed to cherish that when she wanted him all the damn time?
She looked startled and incredibly hurt when he stopped his words, "When you didn't even what...? Get your turn?" and it was back to feeling cheap. "I'm sorry for that." she looked at the floor and couldn't even believe she had to apologize for it. "But we can't do anything about it.."
-------
Greed grabbed her arm dragging her over the the couch and forcing her to sit down. "No. Not just that. Yes I want to fuck---but those--" he pointed to her freckles, where her cheeks often turned bright pink,"are mine." He grabbed her wrist and shook her hand, "these are mine." His thumb then lined her lips gently despite his rage. He didn't say the words but it had burned him to see someone else touching all those things. Before, they may not have been together, but she was alone, he could invade her life without interruption. Now? It wasn't about competition. He really wasn't okay with seeing this like a public display. Mike was stealing right in front of his face, Greed didn't know how to deal with that.
------
Zoe didn't know if he was going crazy or what but she let him drag her to the couch and sit her down. She blinked when he pointed at her face. She didn't understand-- but as he continued she was starting to get it. She lowered her lashes as he touched her lips.
She took a moment, trying to figure out how to explain to him that his toaster would always be his toaster but not his girlfriend. She looked at him softly and pointed at her cheek, "These are mine." she showed him her hands, "These are mine. But this?" she pointed to her heart, "This is yours." she tapped it gently twice. She took his hands in hers and tried to explain, "No matter what happens, you and I have a bond that no one else will ever have. It's one of a kind. We are going to be friends till the day I die. But you have to let me live my life and trust that I know what I'm doing.." she made a pleading face.
------
Whenever they put distance between them purposefully or not he came back full force strung up on himself. He watched her hands as she took his explanation and turned it into her own. Greed's look on life was different than hers. Lust was always spouting that she would get old and die, he knew that, but she was still his possession.
He pushed her hands out, lowering his head into her lap with his knees planted on the floor. "I don't want to." He seemed a little choked. He had all this power now and yet she brought him on his knees over that over-emotional and fragile heart of hers.
------
The truth was Zoe didn't want to either. But they tried, they tried so hard to make it work.. they just couldn't. She was surprised when he curled up in her lap like that and she never liked him being lower or her, it was weird. She moved him gently and got down on the floor with him, touching his cheek, "I can't be in limbo... I want to do the things that'll make you happy but it'll make me so unhappy, Chance. I can't.. I want you in my life. But I can't just watch you live your life and be this toy you pick up now and then. I need my own life.." which he knew was code for basically her own mate. Someone that would give her attention and love and put her first. Things he couldn't give her. It was either this or nothing.
-------
His eyes bounced back and forth with hers, welled up in tears because it was still putting restraints on his things. A livewire that would buzz when he stepped too close.
He didn't say a word, just stared at her face. It was tough to swallow, it was a lump in his throat. It was a curious thing when she put herself on the same plane, never wanting to be over him. It was as if she was trying to find the best way to communicate with him in ways others did not. She was seeing inside not an exterior, putting herself in his place.
------
She stroked his cheek with her thumb, "Don't start leaking on me now..." she said softly and tried to smile. But it faded soon because she was upset too. She quickly leaned forward and kissed his cheek and put her arms around his neck so she could give him a loving cuddle. No, he wouldn't have her in the way he wanted but she wouldn't be going anywhere either. "You wanna play video games? We can even play the zombie one.." she wanted him to stay.
------
Greed squeezed her tightly. He understood it just wasn't what he expected to happen. Her new boy was supposed to be gone, he was supposed to be here without any issue. She was supposed to run loose and come running back to him like he had planned. If he was home he wanted her there for good a d never walk off the yard.
He wiped his face quickly, finding he was in the reverse position since last time. "Yeah," he said a eyewitness voice before clearing his throat.
-------
Zoe kissed his cheek again, pressing her lips with some added pressure. "I got an idea, okay? Wait here." she got up and disappeared into her room and came back with a couple of blankets. She dumped them on the sofa and then went to the kitchen and got a tupperware box full of home made cookies that she tossed in his lap.
She smiled secretively at him and then moved the arm chair next to the sofa and took one of the couch cushions and put it on the other side to lean against the sofa and the table. It was becoming obvious that she was building a fort, just for the two of them, no outsiders allowed. She knew Greed was feeling like intruders were in his world.. this was really just something childish and of course easily breakable but maybe it would give them both some comfort. They had the essentials, video games, cookies, and each other.
------
Greed clung to her cookies, eyeing every move she made until she was under the blankets with him. He'd camped as soon as soon as she looped one blanket to another, and crawled down in the boxcar of a space far more calm than he had been but still just as quiet...
Greed unfolded his arm ripping open the top to the cookies. Her small gesture had kept him on a smooth course from here. She treated him like a being and not something to strangle or shew away.
------
Zoe turned on the TV and the game was still in the console. She sat down next to Greed as the video game titles scrolled by on screen. "Okay.." she handed him one of the controllers and looked at her own, closing one eye and twisting her lips to the side, "So how do I not die..?" she looked at him questioningly because she could play the lighter video games but she was a wuss at zombies and scary stuff. It wasn't just about the video game though, she was asking for his help, his guidance. She wanted him to know she still needed him no matter what he might think.
-------
She was back down on his level, which let him remain calm. He took the controller starting up the game and plugging her in through a few steps. She had watched him before briefly, because just in ten seconds of her character standing she had died.
"The key is to keep moving," he pressed pause on her round to let her watch him go through. He tried to slow down pointing out which buttons hit and what they could do. "This one is your gun fire. This one punch and kick. This one moves you forward and back, and running." He put her hands back on the controller, Scooting behind her and putting his hands over hers as if she were doing nothing short of playing piano.
He put one of her hands on the swivel controller the other with all the little buttons just showing her the basics. He rested a chin on her shoulder, spreading his legs out on either side of her. Just as he had done with his dance lesson he showed her how to make it through a level. The character died five times less while he guided her through.
"Imagine someone you hate and aim." Video games were the only thing he played for kills. He didn't like bloodying his hands with death. Driving to the edge yes, but like this backed out of that dark mood he didn't think about it.
------
Zoe listened and tried to follow Greed's lead but the main reason she didn't die as often with him in charge of her controller is because when she'd squeal and shut her eyes, he could still play for her. She managed to get a special hit on accident and the screen burst to life with gore causing her to jump and close her eyes, turning her head to the side so it was touching his. She squealed a little when she opened her eyes and a creepy cut scene of a guy going through a house with lots of suspense and scary noises was happening. "Is it over..?" she asked about the cut scene in a small voice staying against him, she was missing most of the story this way but she was sorta fine with it.
------
Greed laughed as he threw the main character off a rooftop to another building, then dropping and barrelling through a crowd of dripping flesh eaters with his skin still on.
"Stop looking away!" He nudged her to look at the screen. "It's fake!" Though game graphics had gotten really good in the last few years. "Wait! Wait! You're gonna get eaten! Shoot! Shoot!" Too late she died again.
Greed groaned flopping on his back, still seated behind her. "Better...but still hopeless. Stop closing you're eyes." He said with a wave of his hand.
-------
"Horror movies are fake too but they're still scary!" she let out a short scream amid the action. She put a hand on her chest and was breathing a little hard. She made a face and turned a little to slap him lightly on the stomach, "I sorta kept them open this time.. I killed a couple of zombies before I died. That's progress." she took a cookie and bit into it, "Why can't they explode into candy instead of blood and guts?"
-------
"You're just a wimp!" He turned as she punched his stomach with another groan. "You can hit things with your eyes closed!" He emphasized. "If the zombie apocalypse happens you're dead in five minutes!" He was still sprawled out on the floor behind her.
-------
Zoe mock gasped and put her hands on her cheeks looking at him, "You mean you wouldn't protect me!?" she closed her eyes and swiped at him, "Mean." her hand smacked his stomach again and she opened them and grinned, "Hey lookit that, you're right, I can hit things with my eyes closed."
------
"You'd be the target. I'm not getting eaten by zombies." He flapped her hand away with another gripe. "Stop hitting me." He rubbed his stomach. "I worked hard to get this body, don't bruise it."
------
Zoe dropped her mouth open in mock shock, "That's just rude... I'm totally shoving you in front of me to get eaten by zombies." it was amusing since she was half his size that her little hits could do more than tickle, she could try to punch him for real and it'd be doubtful she'd leave a bruise then even. "You worked hard to get a squishy body?" she poked him in his abs but that was a hard spot, so she poked him again in a softer spot. "Mmm zombies will love it."
-------
He threw her an unimpressed look when she hit hard muscle, but then she plucked somewhere softer in his side and he rolled sideways with a laugh, covering the afflicted area with his arms. "Stop!" He insisted.
-------
Zoe grinned, "Why should I? You were going to let zombies eat me!" she poked the same spot but on the other side of his body, "When really, look at this, you're the best zombie food around." she poked him several times, some spots she hit were rock hard but others were nice and soft.
-------
Greed squirmed when she hit the squishy parts with a laugh. "Stop stop stop. Holy fuck." She kept poking making him laugh more and twisting in all kinds if awkward positions to avoid the ticklish pokes.
-------
Zoe smiled slowly and narrowed her eyes, "Are you.. ticklish? Seriously? Manly man like you?" well that just meant she full on used both hands to lightly grab at his sides where he'd be ticklish the most, "How did I not know this before!?" she looked to the ceiling for a moment saying a dramatic voice, "Do you know how many situations it would have saved me from??"
-------
He pushed at her, flailing his arms in all directions. Each time she dived towards his side, his stomach muscles clenched. "Zoe. Stop." He'd squeak like the Pillsbury dough boy. "How would you like it?" He took a finger and poked her stomach which was squishier than his expecting her to welp.
-------
Zoe laughed at his antics but flinched and curled up when he poked her, "Nooooo, truce truce, okay?" she was ticklish and she knew Greed wouldn't play fair. She was squishier than him, having many many more soft spots. She eye him with her hands up in front of her. "You're supposed to be teaching me how to play this videogame." she nodded wisely.
-------
Sitting up on his elbows, Greed gave a half smile. "You started this." He nudged her hip with his knee gently. "Why?" He pulled himself up taking both hands to creep up her sides.
-------
She looked at him warily, knowing full well what he was capable of doing. "Because I foolishly thought you would behave?" she grabbed his wrists in her hands and gave him a stern and borderline panicked look, "No." she said in a voice like she was talking to a dog about to misbehave, "Very bad, Greed." her eyes staying on his like he might pounce.
-------
Greed wiggled his fingers with a grin. He was taunting her. "Come on! You tackled me with that and won't let me get in a few pokes?" Dirty. That was just dirty.
-------
She raised her brows and nodded, "Exactly. I'm so glad you understand how it works." She kept her hold on his wrists, trying to keep them from touching her sides, eyeing his wiggling fingers like they were creep crawlers.
-------
"Where is that fair?" He wiggled out of her grip like a snake and made a lunge for her, pouncing like a cat. His arms came around her middle, running his fingers up her sides, poking there and at her neck.
After a few good jabs he collapsed back on the floor dragging her on top of him as he went. If she scolded him for tickling, she was really going to put on the big kid voice. She might even roll up the newspaper to swat him on the nose.
-------
"Fair? You're talking about--" but then they weren't talking about anything as she yelped when he pounced her and she burst out laughing as he tickled her, she took a big breath, "Stop, stop, stop!"
She wound up on top of him of course, would he have done anything else? Her shoulders still shook from laughter and she smiled down at him, she cocked her head to the side giving him a soft look, "Truce?" her hair waterfalling off her shoulder, the tips of it tickling the side of his face.
-------
Her hair was a river of softness. It tickled him just like her fingers. Absently, Greed reached up to catch a handful. He liked the way it felt when he rubbed it. As it hung suspended in air above him he looked back with a wavy giggle. "For now." He'd get her back later.
He still pawed at her hair. Everything about her was like a pillow with holes for eyes and a mouth. Plushy. He still wanted to grab and squeeze all of her.
--------
She made a mock serious face, "You're so generous." she laughed and was going to move off him but he kept pawing at her hair. She smiled, "Are you done...? We should see if I can make it to level two." it was just hair, sometimes he would get hung up on weird things, last time it'd been her frekcles.
-------
"It's soft," he insisted so seriously, rubbing it between his fingers. "Feels like fur." Lust was soft, but Lust was vicious. Zoe was cuddly like a teddy bear was to a child. She was comforting.
He reached up a little higher, raking his fingers through it. It was like rain washing down a window pane. It caressed every inch.
"You want to move on to level two now?" He was comfortable here. He didn't realize she wouldn't let him keep having the bits of her he was used to.
--------
She gave him an odd look, "It's... hair." she made an amused face when he kept on about it. But when his hand climbed higher, she gave him a look, "Oooookay, touchy feely, come on." she took his hand from her hair because his touch, however small, always did things to her and that was not very friend appropriate.
"Yes, I do. We're playing video games, not braiding hair." she moved off him and tugged on his hand to try to get him to sit up. They were friends, his feeling up soft Zoe bits privileges were over.
-------
Greed whined a little as she pulled away, his dessert being snatched off the table because he wouldn't eat his vegetables. He clasped her hands tight to gray himself up at her push. "You didn't say I couldn't touch," he pouted. Greed still had a lot to learn on the boundaries of what was appropriate. So he couldn't kiss and hold hands, but now she was denying him everything.
He sat for a moment with his lip hanging out, stuffing a cookie in his mouth. It was a wonder all the rolling around hadn't knocked down the fort.
-------
Zoe had a quizzical smile on her face as she looked at him. He really didn't know, did he... She fixed herself and scooted so she was sitting with her body turned towards him, "Friends don't caress any part of each other, so you can't touch my hair like that or hold hands or kiss my lips. You can hug me and kiss my cheek but basically anything that makes you horny is a strict no-no." she looked at him as if to ask any questions. Then made a slight face, "Though I guess we don't really have that problem much anymore.." since the last time they'd kissed he'd run off. She shrugged, "Just yeah. Come on."
-------
It was as if she had just whipped a puppy with a rolled magazine. He just looked at her wide-eyed in shock. It was a hard realization. "I wasn't horny." He pouted again finishing off his cookie with a grump. "You going to throw up an electric fence now?" He barked, folding his arms in and grabbing for his controller..killing some rabid flesh eating zombies made him pump out frustration.
-------
She frowned, "No.. I'd electrocute myself too that way." she looked at him oddly, "If you weren't horny, then what?" she idly ruffled her hair, feeling uncomfortable. "You don't have to answer that." she said quickly after, she didn't think she wanted to know the answer. He was again just hot and cold and she was a goddamn toaster.
-------
Greed didn't look at her for a few minutes while he blasted through streams of blood and guts on the screen. He kept his eyes glued until he'd knocked around enough. He still wasn't satisfied but he threw the controller in her lap. "Because I kinda love your hair. I love your eyes and the way they bounce off your face. Your freckles that coat your face like fucking sugar crystals. I love your smile and the way you let me be me. None of those things I can fuck and I still love them."
He grabbed the controller back with a pout. "That's why."
--------
Zoe didn't think he'd respond since he was brooding and killing zombies but then she blinked when he threw the controller in her lap and started ranting.. about her. She had a deer in the headlights look and since her brown eyes were already large, they just seemed like saucers by the time he was done. She was literally speechless. Greed wasn't the most romantic or poetic of guys so when he had moments like on the rooftop and now, it always left her gobsmacked. Her lips parted a little but she still looked stunned, not being able to say anything. She looked away and tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear as all she managed to say was, "Oh."
She leaned back and picked up a cookie, stuffing it into her mouth, eyes glued on the TV screen, still unable to process more than a few words he'd said.
-------
He expected her to roll on top of him. Smoother him in kisses and hugs, but she didn't. His ears still burned despite it, their tips a rosy pink. He'd told Sloth, George and Wrath what he felt---but that was the closest he'd come to actually telling her. He wanted her for all the reasons he didn't understand. It had nothing to do with sex appeal, short skirts and what he could take from her. It was all about what she gave in return and she didn't even realise what she had really given and why he valued that heart more than his car or his jewels and other fancy things. Even more than Josie's bracelet.
He handed her the other controller, turning off his own and sitting back on his elbows, stretching out. He watched to see how far she went on her own. The open fence with a lush green yard he kept running back though was almost horrible how symbolic it all was. The dramatic music from the game only made it that much worse. His eyes fell from her to the screen.
