This was his New Year's kiss, linked in his arms. She was putty when he wore the right look, held the right demeanor, said the right things. He was charming in his own deluded way. He meant it with her. It just had no sticking power when other things presented themselves.
He nudged his nose against her cheek, diving in for that kiss. He would have it! His lips were nearly pressed to hers when Raiden came bouncing out the back door. She had finally had enough to leave. The drunks in were starting to grow in numbers, and there were quite a few men that looked like dazed zombies trying to corner her.
"Zoe?" She asked in a squeaky voice. She hated to break this up but it was late. Raiden grabbed Zoe's arm softly. "Can we go?" She literally pleaded.
-------
Which is why Zoe always questioned if she loved something that was real or not. He was as real as a sand castle, it was there but easily swept away by the water. Real but temporary. She didn't want temporary. She wanted more. She was going to let him kiss her, she could feel his breath on her lips when Ray burst through the door. Zoe unwrapped her arms from around Greed, frowning as Ray looked kinda not happy. "Hey Ray.. of course. Sure, just let me say goodbye, okay?"
She looked at Greed and shrugged helplessly, "I should get her home.."
-------
Ruined. That moment was ruined and he couldn't get it back. He could have made ribbons out of Raiden's neck the moment he felt her approach and break his hold by grabbing Zoe.
"It's getting a little rowdy," Raiden said, curling her fingers a little tighter on Zoe's arm. The few guys that had hit on her looked drunk off something else entirely than alcohol.
Before Zoe could leave, after that attempt at goodbye, Greed grabbed her, nailing his lips to hers without asking. He wasn't going to let anyone take that from him.
--------
Zoe looked with concern at Raiden and nodded but then went whoa! as Greed grabbed her. Her eyes went wide when he laid one on her and she felt something hot shoot straight down and explode in her stomach as after a moment her eyes closed. A shiver ripped through her when the kiss broke, she looking at him through lowered lashes. He didn't get scolded, no lecture on how they were just friends, this was wrong, none of it. She only managed to say something that sounded like 'goodnight'.
She stumbled a little as she moved away from him, ushering Ray down the alley towards the still populated streets. She turned around to look at Greed, "Um.. I'll call you later. We can.. talk." but at 'talk', she smiled and her cheeks turned pink. She quickly tucked a strand of now loose hair behind her ear and turned back, taking Raiden's arm as she said in a playfully warning voice, "Don't you say a word."
-------
Greed fisted the air. Fuck yeah! Back in the game! There were kinks to iron out here, but he'd played a really good hand, and he'd meant it. It had him wondering if that's really all it took to make this kind of relationship stuff work. He'd have gone home with her had the air not shifted.
Greed picked up his phone, he'd cracked the glass real good and missed a string of messages. Lust was back.
