Amphitrite had been glad to finally give birth to her daughter. She had known for months that she had been awaiting yet another daughter while the only other person who knew was her doctor. She had known Poseidon's reaction either way and she hadn't been up for his snark. Not that she was these days. Over the years she had become more and more tired of him and his antics, of his snark and insults. This child would be different. She had protected her other children as best she could, but now her opinion really, finally mattered. Valencia would be allowed to marry whenever she wanted, and most importantly whomever she wanted. Amphitrite was hellbent on Poseidon not getting involved in this one. At least they had about 18 years ahead before she could worry over that. She was tempted not to let her child ever date or know anyone outside of immediate family and aunts and cousins. The fewer she knew personally the better. But that was going to be a hard task.
She had slipped into the shower as Valencia took her morning nap. The child wasn't even two months old yet, but she was progressing rapidly. She was very smart and alert and curious. All the things a child needed to be.
When Amphitrite was dressed she returned to the nursery, only to stop at the door. She leaned against the frame with a smug look. This she had to see. Surely Poseidon could feel her standing there and if he gave a damn about Valencia he wouldn't mind her watching the two bond a little.
