For Dominic and Jackie their world had been flipped upside down. Opening up about it was not something Dominic was not trained in. His father had gotten older though, their family was all he had, so shutting them out wasn't easy. There were things he just couldn't tell them about. The girl he'd had a quick fling with opened up the doors to a world he'd never knew existed. Creatures, monsters, what else was out there that was far more dangerous than his father's mob?
Even more trouble was his knee. It hadn't been healing like it was supposed to. He was restless without being around the family he'd grown accustomed to over the years. He was a soldier, that was the life he'd grown used to. There were no questions, no reasons to open up. He just did what he had to do. That's all that mattered. Now, he was restless. Some days he couldn't even get out of bed from the knee pain. Other days he was able to hold up the mask. Today was running somewhere in between.
Finally rolling out of bed to put on some fresh clothes, Dominic hooked Hugo onto his leash to go out for a walk. The giant dog was whimpering and scratching at the door. "Alright boy, let's go." He struggled to get up, walking a lot slower than usual out of the apartment and towards the park.
