WHO: Victor and Hippolyta
WHAT: Contacting old flames to make sure they are okay
WHEN: Tuesday morning, early
WHERE: Their respective homes
By the time Victor was finally convinced to return home to rest, he was utterly exhausted. He hadn't eaten much at all, having put all his energy into helping rescue people from the storm's surge. Instead of finding something to eat upon entering his apartment, however, Victor just stripped his wet clothes off, took a warm shower, and fell into his bed. He was far too tired to eat, let alone make something.
There was something about the storm which made him feel nostalgic and not in a good way. Watching people struggle and fear for their lives made him remember everyone he had lost. He usually dealt with their loss fine, feeling secure in knowing he had been loved. There were times though, when things seemed dire and terrible, when he felt the pain of the empty space in his life more acutely. His parents, his first love, his wife... Silvia. Silvia, however, she was still alive. Alive and in the city, and as he pulled the blankets over his weary body, he was overcome with the need to know if she was okay.
It wasn't because he was lonely or wanted to see her again that he found himself grabbing the phone from his nightstand and keying in the still oddly familiar number. Their breakup had been five years ago and he hadn't even spoken to her for years after it. Their relationship now was awkward at times, or at least not entirely comfortable. But he had loved her once, and he had to know there was someone still connected to his past - someone who wasn't lost to him.
He listened to the ring tone, hoping he hadn't disturbed her sleep. He just wanted to hear her voice. He had to know she was safe. It felt like a strange sort of hurdle he had to clear in a way. If she was alright, he could stop. He could let himself rest, because though he couldn't save the world, he could know his past was safe.
He could finally sleep.
