WHO: Eris & Ares
WHEN: Saturday night
WHERE: Ares' apartment
WHAT: It's been a while, baby.
New York City was a centre for chaos and it didn't take a goddess to know that. It was simple maths - the larger a group of people got, the more unpredictable they became. People, singular, could be sensible. People, plural, were big balls of crazy just waiting to explode in mass panic. Eris loved mass panic.
Ares was easy to seek out for Eris. She was tied to him like she was tied to no other, and she felt like there was a copper wire twisted somewhere in her guts that attached itself to him. Now that she was closer that wire only pulled all the tighter.
He wasn't at his apartment building, but the scent of bloodshed was all over it in a way no mere mortal would pick up, although Eris knew at least some of them were perceptive enough to keep away even without understand why. Must have been the mid-nineties she'd last caught up with Ares, and still it was shitty apartment buildings like this.
Eris let the copper coil lead her and when she found his door locked, Eris didn't think that was very nice at all. From her coat pocket she pulled out a handgun and blew the lock off the door, kicking the door open with the toe of her combat boot.
None of the neighbours came out of their apartments to follow the gunshot. She didn't know if that was because of her, or because of Ares, or because these particular mortals had become so blase about violence that they chose not to acknowledge it when possible. Eris enjoyed that in people.
Inside the apartment, Eris wandered around exploring things. Then she explored the fridge and acquired a can of beer. She sat up on the counter over the sink with her beer, and through the window watched a couple having sex on a nearby rooftop.
