Haydn worked with the New York symphony on occasional and he had spent the afternoon in rehearsal. It was a great relief to him, working with young musicians and guiding them in their careers. It was also nice to hear people still playing his music, along with the music of his contemporaries and friends.
After the rehearsal he decided to enjoy the warm, evening air by taking a seat on the edge of the fountain in the Lincoln Center plaza. He was hearing music in his head when he felt the familiar buzz of a fellow immortal nearing him. He looked up, a pleasant and curious smile on his face. And when he saw someone he almost recognised, his breath caught in his throat. Could it be?
He stood up, sat down, and then stood up again, taking a few steps towards the man. He was reticent to just go up to the man and ask him who he was, because it wasn't strictly polite. But his mouth opened slightly when the man caught sight of him, an unspoken question lingering between them.
Wolfgang?
