Who: Hecate, Rhode & Helios (Tiny cameo by Hypnos) What: Catching up over dinner When: Saturday evening Where: Hecate's place
Helios could make all the jokes he wanted, but with the amount of people who wanted to see him and catch up, she'd bought herself a little planner, writing down everyone and their phone numbers, and where and when they'd be meeting up. And it had worked like a charm, so far. So she'd be hanging onto it, thanks.
Tonight, they were going over to Hecate's for dinner and catching up, and she was looking forward to it. Having someone like Hecate in their corner made her feel better, because she was so powerful and could flatten her father if he tried anything stupid. Plus, she was just nice, most of the time, and Rhode definitely appreciated that.
They arrived at Chthonia as they sun was making its final dip below the horizon. The orange sky was shot through with navy, and stars were already starting to come out. Rhode pushed open the door with one hand, grasping one of Helios' with the other. She nodded at the immortal behind the counter, Greek of course, but not one she knew right off.
"Hi!" he said cheerfully, coming out from behind the counter. "You must be Rhode and Helios, boss lady said you were coming by. I'm Hypnos, I work during the day while she's sleeping. She'll probably have figured out you're here by now, she's sharp like that."
Rhode smiled at Hypnos. "The Lord of Sleep himself. Nice to meet you."
He waved the title away. "The only time I insisted on my title, I was royally pissed off and being kind of a bitch. And now...I'm not. So just Hypnos is fine."
Rhode smiled again, a bit more genuinely this time. "You're not like the other Di Nocti, are you?" she asked.
He shook his head. "Not so much. You have to push me really, really hard or screw with my siblings to see that side."
She nodded. "No wonder Hecate likes you, then."
He laughed. "I'd certainly hope she does." It's like a text adventure, except with midgets. Ads by Project Wonderful! Your ad here, right now: $2.30

[info]torchywitch 2011-12-10 11:30 pm UTC (link) Track This "She also gets to take his shirt off. It's a plus," she said as she walked down the stairs, giving Hypnos a grin. She flirted, but never more. Unlike most Greeks she respected it when someone wanted to be monogamous. And the flirting was innocent enough.
She smiled to the two before wincing and holding up her hand, "woah. Hi shiny." She squinted through her fingers at Helios. Even half forgotten he still shone bright to her. And she was a Titan of Night. She'd never gotten along with sun.
She put some shades on, mostly because she had to, "did not expect that. Huh. Anyway, hi there. I did know you where here. Glad you could make it."

[info]behemothic 2011-12-11 12:10 am UTC (link) DeleteTrack This This was all still a little new for him, it would take time before Helios was rightly grounded back in his own skin. He picked up on things however that had seemed odd to him before, now making sense, like a puzzle coming together. There were some missing pieces, but they would be found, eventually.
His hand curled around Rhode's as she grabbed it. He was never shy when it came to the right kind of girl. Rhode, she was as much a part of him as his beloved sun. She was beautiful, smart, feisty and he was her perfect counterpart. Helios wasn't a complete cookie cut image, but he adored her and it showed. He made her feel a little more stable. At first when they'd been wed it was painfully obvious that she was uncomfortable, but Helios wasn't easily deterred, if he had been he would have been thrown into that ocean long before Poseidon had the chance.
He held out a hand to Hypnos in a small gesture of greeting. There was no fishy handshakes when it came to Helios, he was strong. "We all have a pushy side, it's Greek." Though, Helios did find Titans were more old school about things, at least he was.
When Hecate came in he laughed. "A little dim now, it's winter." But he was a sun god, brightness and warmth flowed through him.

[info]rhodus 2011-12-11 12:30 am UTC (link) Track This "Not in this weather, she doesn't," he replied with a laugh. "Not unless the heat's up really, really high."
He shook Helios' outstretched hand. "I agree with you there," he answered. "Anyone can, if you push them hard enough. Mine just usually takes a lot more to uncover." He waved to Hecate. "I'm gonna go home, boss lady, but I'll see you tomorrow, OK?"
Rhode giggled. "Shiny. I like that. I'll tack it on to your list of nicknames." She waved at Hecate. "Hello! I figured you probably did. And we're glad to be here, thanks for having us."

[info]torchywitch 2011-12-11 12:37 am UTC (link) Track This She nodded to Hypnos, "say hi to the lady for me." She smiled to Helios, "dim for you maybe. I'm Night so it's a little brighter. It's alright though. Still glad I wasn't married off to you."
"He is if you're not expecting it and you were looking. I really ought to know better. Anyway come on up." She waved the two upstairs, where they were greeted by the throng of seven dogs who were all pleased to see New People. "Down you lot. Sorry about them. Hope you like dogs."

[info]behemothic 2011-12-11 12:56 am UTC (link) DeleteTrack This "Lucky for you, I kind of like my wife." He gave Rhode a gentle nudge, wrapping an arm around her tiny waist. "I'm pretty sure she likes me too." He gave a heafty nod to Hypnos as he exited, taking the lead up Hecate's stairs.
"You're on a long list of callers, apparently I'm the new guy everyone wants at their table." Helios was a nice guy but he had some sass, something Rhode may have been missing for a long time.
He brushed a hand over one of the dogs heads, scratching it behind the ear. "More a cat kind of guy, but dogs will do."

[info]rhodus 2011-12-11 01:17 am UTC (link) Track This Rhode gave him a fake glare. "Well I would certainly hope you do," she said, waving goodbye to Hypnos then starting up the stairs after their hostess.
"It's because they're glad you're back, they want to see you alive and well," she reminded him, poking him in the side. "And yeah, he can be, especially when you've just woken up in the morning. It's something I'm re-adjusting to."
She grinned at the sight of the dogs, kneeling down to scratch another under the chin. "Aww, they're so cute!" she exclaimed. "I want to get a pug and name it Squishy, but Mr. Golden Sun thinks that's a weird name." She laughed.

[info]torchywitch 2011-12-11 01:27 am UTC (link) Track This She laughed, "man I would be the crankiest Titan waking up to a big ball of sun every time I wake up." And she smirked, "I like your wife too Helios, besides I have Hermes and Peitho. And others."
"And I wanted to meet you. I just called in a favor," she winked to Rhode before shooing the dogs off. "Squishy is a great name. Give the girl a dog Helios." smiling she led them to the kitchen, "want something to drink?"

[info]behemothic 2011-12-11 01:37 am UTC (link) DeleteTrack This He whipped Rhode around in front of him, keeping her back glued to him and engulfing her with those thick, long arms. "You don't complain too often, I guess keeping you is doable." They'd yet to move in together, though that would be within the near future. Trucking back and forth to various apartments was tedious. He teased her, they both had a rather crass sense of humor, but it balanced out.
"I'm not naming a dog squishy, that's just horrible." He hadn't denied ever getting her a dog.
His arms were still wrapped around Rhode as they entered the kitchen. He wasn't a lovestruck teenager, but after thinking about the damned girl for as long as he could remember, it was hard to keep his paws off.

[info]rhodus 2011-12-11 01:57 am UTC (link) Track This She nudged him gently in the chest with her elbow. "Darn right," she said, synchronizing her steps with his.
"It's because I'm so likable," she said, completely straightfaced. "And magic," she added, lips twitching.
"Squishy is an awesome name, and besides, pugs are squishy, so there," she replied, sticking her tongue out at him even though he couldn't really see it.
"Really, I was happy to oblige," she told Hecate. "That Helios has good people in his corner helps set us at ease. And yes, a drink sounds good. So how have you been, Hecate? I haven't seen you in forever, it seems."

[info]torchywitch 2011-12-11 02:12 am UTC (link) Track This She shook her head to the two, "you guys are adorable." She was glad they had such love between them. Not very many of their pantheon had that luck.
She poured the three of them some wine, from Dionysus, and handed the two their glasses. "it's quite alright. Poseidon needs to learn that there is someone who will smack him on his ass and will own him if he keeps being an ass. In that I'm happy to oblige."
She shrugged, "I'm pretty good. I keep myself busy. I have my dogs, my family, my shop. I can't complain. And yourself?"

[info]behemothic 2011-12-11 02:29 am UTC (link) DeleteTrack This "I know, its sickening isn't it?" Unlike the nasty jabs of her father, there was no negativity in Helios' words about Rhode. She deserved it, so many didn't get the luxury. Helios was of a rarity.
"Poseidon isn't going to drown me again. He needs to find a new tactic." How time with Rhode had been short because of Poseidon and his vengence. Helios was making up for lost time now and no Olympian would stand in his way.
"Security guard on most days when I'm not filling up my time card with dates." He kissed Rhode on the cheek and released her from his loving grip.

[info]rhodus 2011-12-11 03:47 am UTC (link) Track This She laughed and poked him again. "I think, after so many hundreds of years apart, we're entitled to act like a pair of honeymooners for a while."
She accepted her glass with a smile, taking a sip of the potent, excellent wine. "In his own twisted way, he's trying to say he missed me. In his mind, Helios appeared too soon for him to spend time with me. He apparently doesn't understand that I'm perfectly capable, and willing, to spend time with both my husband and father. But sometimes, I do agree he needs someone to keep him in line."
She shrugged. "Dad offered me a job with his firm, but his secretary's a bitch, and he was never really clear on what I'd actually be doing. I've thought about taking a few college classes to fill my days, but at this point, it's all really up in the air."

[info]torchywitch 2011-12-11 03:56 am UTC (link) Track This She rolled her eyes, "my dad wrestles with me to show me affection and even he's not that much of a dick. And he's the Titan of destruction." She sighed, "just let me know alright? I have some things that will make him re-think his choices and actions."
Then she smirked, "And it is sweet enough to give me a tootache. Now sit down, I made dinner." She set the dinner on the table, "well if either of you need something I always hire friends. I could use some of you both to make some charms." She made a face, "it sounds a lot better in my head. This is how you know you've been married to Persuasion for too long."

[info]behemothic 2011-12-11 04:13 am UTC (link) DeleteTrack This "He keeps long grudges," Helios rolled his own eyes. "I'm not surprised he'd want to get rid of me again. Happiness isn't something Poseidon possesses."
Helios took his own glass. Dionysus' wine was always sweeter than any other. He took a seat with Rhode at the table, being sure to keep her hand in his lap under the table.
"What kind of charms?"

[info]rhodus 2011-12-11 04:58 am UTC (link) Track This "I think, once upon a time, he was happy with Mom," she said quietly, sipping her wine. "But that's his curse, no matter how much he has, it's never enough. He always has to have more, of everything. But if he decides to completely flip out on me, I'll let you know."
She took a seat at the table. "If you've got the space, I'd be willing," she said, once they were all seated, lacing her fingers with Helios'. "I don't have the patience for finance, or whatever it is Dad does, and I think at this point I have six or so Master's degrees under my belt. Might be nice to work here for a while, and help to make charms."

She smiled to Rhode, "well if you want I can make something that will give him a taste of his own medicine should he try? You'll have to come back alone though." She gave Helios an apologetic smile, "I can't work during day and with Sun sitting right here, well, it'd be hard."
She shrugged, "easy ones. Light ones. You give the gift of prophecy and oaths so things to heighten that." She grinned to Rhode, "always space for people I care about. And it is fun, but I'm biased."

[info]behemothic 2011-12-11 04:12 pm UTC (link) DeleteTrack This Helios held up a hand waving off her apology. "None taken." Poseidon deserved to be a lonely old man for the deeds he'd done. Helios would not stand on his side even with Rhode as his wife.
He continued to slip swallows of wine, which triggered a few memories, giving him that blank stare as Rhode and Bedstead talked.
