Who: Thetis & Achilles What: Mother and son spending some time together When: Monday evening Where: Thetis' apartment
Ever since Poseidon had died, Thetis had felt off balance. The sea needed its King, it was no longer the place she remembered. The fish were dying in huge numbers, and the droughts and sandstorms hadn't helped either. She knew Achilles had gone to see Amphitrite and try and cheer her up, she wondered how that had gone. And she reminded herself for the thousandth time how lucky she was to have a good son like that.
She had invited him over tonight because he was one of the things that kept her tethered to the world, and right now she needed that. So when she heard the bell ring, she buzzed him in and stood near the door, awaiting the knock.

His mother had always been a strong and towering woman if only in the power to help those around her. It was time he helped her wasn't it? After all he'd put her through, as her son he would always put her heart on edge, but he wished to soothe it for once. He'd died once, nearly twice, and disrespected her on numerous occasions when he let his ego speak higher than himself.
When she asked to see him, his response had been inevitable. Where his mother stood, she held the highest favor.
The knock came as she'd expected and he was there willing to open his arms for her. (Reply to this)(Thread)

And she definitely needed that right now. Her whole world felt twisted and off-kilter, she could feel the wrongness in her very bones. Poseidon needed to come back quickly, or things would change even more, and definitely not for the better.
"Come in, come in," she said with a little smile, standing back to allow him to enter. "Would you like something to drink?" (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)

Achilles stepped inside shutting the door behind him. "No mother, I am fine." He was more concerned with her than the usual pleasantries. He stepped just behind her watching her with the same critical eye he had when visiting Amphitrite. (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)

"You went and talked to your aunt, yes? How did that go?" She knew Amphitrite was trying to hold things together, after all she was Queen of the Sea, but that couldn't be an easy task. "How did she look?" She really needed to get over there and see her sister herself, but for now she could make do with this. (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)

"I told you of the nightmares she spoke of," he started, massaging her shoulders gently. "She did not speak much of Poseidon, but she looked distraught. Better than she had at the party." He paused the motion kissing her on the cheek then sittig down as she'd asked.
"If he is down in Hades' lair, then he deserves what comes to him," there was a bitterness to his voice. If the delusioned sea king never returned it would be what was best for all but Achilles would clip his tongue for the sake f his mother. She knew more and felt more attachment than he. Achilles was ill at the way this now affected his mother. (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)

He'd said they were terrible, that she saw her husband die in her dreams. "I'm glad she's looking better, she seemed so much worse at that sham of a party."
"I cannot say I disagree with you," she said quietly. "But in our way, all of the sea gods need him. He may not be someone you like, but he has ruled the sea for centuries, and now he is gone. The balance has been upset. And as strange as it sounds, I think having him back is actually the lesser of two evils." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
chink_in_armor 2011-07-21 12:49 am (local) (link) He didn't like seeing her like this, so out of sorts because of the gods and their reckless ways. His hand continued to rest on hers, running lightly against the top. "You should see her," his voice insistent.
"He has ruled it, or has he like the rest of the gods misused his abilities and his reign?" He could sense that bigger things were afoot.
