Who: Hecate & Bia What: Titans do not 'check on people' except they totally do. Plus dinner! When: Tuesday evening Where: Hecate's place
Hecate had seemed unusually cryptic lately. And while Bia was used to her cousin keeping her own counsel, she was being even stranger than usual. And that raised Bia's curiosity a little bit. That, along with the fact that she seemed drowsy and out of it.
So she turned up at Hecate's around dinner, clutching bags of Chinese takeout and a six-pack of beer, knocking on the door with her foot, since her hands were full.
torchywitch 2011-09-06 08:26 pm (local) (link) Hecate needed time to recover, and put plans in motion. If Zeus killed her, which was a possibility, the shop needed to be run and things needed to get done. She could count on people, but she made sure everything would run fine until she came back.
She hoped she wouldn't die, not only for herself but then it just proved how little Zeus was capable of learning, but she wouldn't dread it either. That was pointless.
When the knock came she felt well enough to answer it herself. Besides her parents were Gods knew where, and Hecate Was Not Asking, so she had no one else.
She grinned as she noticed it was Bia, and food. "Hey cousin." Smiling she stepped back, her dogs circling around the newcomers feet at the scent of food. "This is a surprise." (Reply to this)(Thread)
powerandmight 2011-09-06 08:40 pm (local) (link) Bia smiled too, stepping inside. "Haven't heard from you in a while. It's really quiet without your cheerful self around." She held up the offerings. "And I never turn up empty-handed, I think I got a little of everything."
She set the bag down, letting the dogs sniff her, absently scratching the ears of one of them. Straightening up, she asked, "So how's things with you?" (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
torchywitch 2011-09-06 08:46 pm (local) (link) Smiling she fished through the bags, taking out what she liked and leaving he rest for her cousin. "I was tired for a while." She shrugged, "I had to do something, and it required a lot of power. I've spend most of my time recuperating. I'm still not on top form, but I'm getting there." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
powerandmight 2011-09-06 09:02 pm (local) (link) "I see," she replied, opening one of the cartons and thumbing the cap off a beer. "Can I ask what it was that used up so much of your power? It must have been a hell of a thing to have you recuperating for so long." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
torchywitch 2011-09-06 09:10 pm (local) (link) She paused before she sat down. "I turned Zeus into a statue." She looked to her cousin, "he took my mother away from me. He goes without reprisal because he's a King. I reminded him he wasn't my King." She shrugged, looking towards her dinner. "He'll kill me for it, more then likely. Or tell you four to do it." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
powerandmight 2011-09-06 09:55 pm (local) (link) Bia's eyebrows shot toward her hairline. "I saw Eris' post about that, I almost couldn't believe it. Explains why he hasn't called for us lately, though."
She nodded. "I know. He has for such a long time. None of us felt comfortable after he made us beat up Hephaestus. He's an old man, a cripple, and we just tore into him, because he said what he was thinking."
She sighed, draining half her beer. "I don't even know if we still work for him, when our mother gave us to him, she meant us to be the weapons of a good King. And that has obviously changed. So I'd hold off thinking we're going to come after you, at least for now." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
torchywitch 2011-09-06 10:13 pm (local) (link) She smiled to her cousin, "Even if you do I don't hold it against you. You do what you have to. Kratos got all worried," she rolled her eyes, "told me Zeus would kill me and all that. Then he said something about Clio's chest and it broke the five seconds of sweet he has." She shook her head, "it was hardly right, but I owed him. My mom, she's everything. And I had to be without her." She lowered her eyes and shrugged, playing with her food, "I don't suppose you get that, with Styx and all." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
powerandmight 2011-09-06 10:45 pm (local) (link) "I don't even know what we have to do anymore," Bia muttered. "Everything is all kinds of fucked up."
She snorted to hear about Kratos. "Yup, that sounds like him. Did you see the smiling picture Clio posted? One of the few times I've ever seen him smile."
"Hey, you're not gonna hear me say anything against it," she said. "We've had to watch him deteriorate into what he is today. He never rules anymore, he cares only for himself (not that that's changed much), and we're left to wonder what in Hades we're doing anymore."
She laughed. "No, no I really don't. Styx was never the mothering type. We were her tools instead of her children. Then again, when your parents are Hate and War, I think that's only to be expected." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
torchywitch 2011-09-06 10:51 pm (local) (link) She frowned, "whats left to rule?" She looked to Bia, "we've all gone so far. But still, the pantheon should have some order. Everyone is so disorganized, wandering and lost. It's like he's given up." She shook her head, "that's not the being I chose to fight for. Maybe this will teach him that. OR maybe this will teach me how much lightning hurts. We'll see."
She grinned, "it's on my fridge. He claimed he was drunk." She shook her head, "you know, before, I was supposed to marry him. Or Zelos. We would have been sisters." She smiled to Bia, "despite having to deal with the headache that would be that, I wouldn't have minded being a sister to you. But things changed and I'm a consort now."
"I suppose so, I know daddy never has a lot of comforting moments, but I know he loves me," it was odd to speak of destruction like that, "but my parents cherished me. Maybe because I was the only child they had." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
powerandmight 2011-09-06 11:04 pm (local) (link) "Fair point," she agreed, finishing her beer. "I think he has, some days. Other days I'm convinced he just doesn't care. And that used to be our jobs, to help keep order. These days we're no better than a bunch of thugs. Honestly, I hope he learns something from this."
She laughed. "That's very possibly true," she said. "I never know with him." She tilted her head, listening. "Really? Girl, I wouldn't wish Zelos on anyone, brother or now, because every time I see him, 'Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better' starts running through my head. But I think you and Kratos would've been good together. You would have made a badass sister." She nodded. "Things always changed."
"Ours trained us to serve and be weapons practically from the time we were born," she replied. "They didn't want our love so much as our obedience. So we just started to rely on each other, I guess. We made it work. It's nice to know three other people have your back when you go into a fight." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
torchywitch 2011-09-06 11:15 pm (local) (link) She shrugged, "it's a bit of both I imagine. He needs to do something. We can't be what we were, but now we're a joke." she sighed. "That's not why I defied my father and fought for Zeus."
"It's what Zelos does." She smiled to Bia, "thank you. My mother had the idea. Something about pure bloodlines because the answer is always to marry a cousin." She shook her head, "But I'm the end of the line for my parents blood. I've been with Hermes for so long now, and Gods knows he's got a bunch of kids." She glanced at Bia, "you don't want kids, do you?"
"Yeah I wish I had someone else. It was just me and the ghosts, and my puppies. They're not always great at conversation." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
powerandmight 2011-09-07 02:13 pm (local) (link) Bia sighed, slithering a little way down the couch. "At least people still remember your name. And I agree, he does. He's not the King we used to fight for."
"It is," she agreed. "But sometimes it's slightly annoying when it's turned on me." She gave a lopsided grin. "Sure thing. And that's usually how it goes, isn't it? Marry a cousin, preserve the blood." She tried to think of all of Hermes' kids in her head, and failed. "Dang, he does, doesn't he?" She shook her head emphatically. "Not so much. Can you imagine me with kids? I'm not really the mothering type. They'd be half-Titan, or, if we'd been married off, probably full Titan. I would've been married to one of my brothers, most likely." She shrugged. "It's only speculation, though, at this point."
"Sometimes I wish that too," she said quietly. "But I've been on my own for such a long time, and I'm used to it. And then I remember that if I told anyone besides you that, they'd probably try and beat some 'sense' back into me."
"You're still young. Ish," she said with a grin. "Maybe you could find someone?" (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
torchywitch 2011-09-07 02:31 pm (local) (link) She smiled to her cousin, "You won't be forgotten Bia. You know that. I won't let that happen. And we'll see what happens. Hope for good things."
Smiling she set her hand over Bia's, "probably Kratos. You two are counterparts as it is. The Force behind the Strenght." She shrugged, "And I do, id, want kids. I like kids actually. Always so eager. But I'm a Cthonic Titan," she shrugged, "underworld Gods are never the most fruitful of deities."
She sighed, "sometimes I feel the same, and your brothers are rather jealous. I don't think they share. And I do have people. I know Hermes loves me. He'd steal for me, which is actually a sweet thing for him. And besides, I tend to be a bit creepy sometimes." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
powerandmight 2011-09-07 03:33 pm (local) (link) She smiled too. "That makes me feel a bit better, thanks. And I'll cross my fingers, but color me cynical if I'm not holding my breath."
She squeezed Hecate's hand. "That wouldn't have been so bad, I guess. If there's anyone who really gets the way my head works, it's probably him." She shrugged. "But it didn't happen. And it's OK." She grinned. "I think you'd be good with kids, bunch of little munchkins following you around. And hey, even if you're not, you could always adopt?"
She snorted. "They are that," she agreed. "Many an eye-rolling episode has been spawned from that trait." She raised an eyebrow, still smiling. "That's cute, and it makes sense," she said. "And you're not creepy to me, but I'm probably biased." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
torchywitch 2011-09-07 03:48 pm (local) (link) She laughed then, "because you're used to me Bia. I feel like Hades. The Realm, not God. I accept that." She shrugged, "I don't know if I could adopt a mortal child. Something destined to die?" She shrugged, "I couldn't do it I think." She smiled and ruffled the fur of one of her pups, "I have my puppies. I think that's enough."
She frowned, "I don't know why I'm so morose. You know me. I'm cheery. Maybe it's the strain. Maybe it's the 'I could die' thing." She grinned, "you know I wish I had that. Someone who gets me. Don't get me wrong, Hermes and Peitho both love me. But one's an Olympian and the other's sort of a nymph. I don't have anyone like you have Kratos, or like Zelos has Nike. Must be nice." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
powerandmight 2011-09-07 06:12 pm (local) (link) She smiled. "Like I said. Biased." Then she mused, "I wonder if all the gods who hang out in Hades feel like that?" She listened to Hecate's next words and said, "Oh. I didn't think of that. And they are pretty awesome dogs." She scratched another between the ears.
"You really are," she agreed. "Cheeriest Titan I've ever met, anyway. But I think you're allowed to be morose once in a while. I think it's part of the whole immortal package."
She smiled a little. "Sometimes it's nice. We fight to work out our problems and drink afterwards. Or we drink and bitch about Olympians. There's a lot of drinking involved." She laughed. "How is someone sort of a nymph? I should ask her sometime. And you have people who love you. Sometimes it's like counterparts can read your freaking mind, which gets on my nerves." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
torchywitch 2011-09-07 06:24 pm (local) (link) Smiling she set her head on Bia's lap. Mostly because she could. "They do. Except Persephone. She's strange. Kind of stuck in between almost." She grinned at her dogs, "of course they are. They are the best puppies."
Laughing she looked up at Bia, "someone has to be." She smirked, "and all the sex too. And I know I have plenty of people who love me. I'm lovable. I don't know what its like though so I can only assume." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
powerandmight 2011-09-08 05:08 am (local) (link) Bia idly twirled a few strands of Hecate's hair. Also mostly because she could. "Then explain Hypnos to me, he's almost as cheery as you, and he's lived in the Underworld for just shy of forever. And the Iron Queen has always been a mystery to me." She looked over at the dogs. "Awesome guard dogs and adorable to boot."
"Our pantheon could definitely use the cheery sometimes," she agreed. Then she laughed. "Yeah, there's that too. And yes, you definitely are, I don't let just anyone chill with their head in my lap." She smiled at her upside down. (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
torchywitch 2011-09-08 05:21 am (local) (link) She laughed to that comment, "ball of energy I suppose. I don't know. There's darkness to him, I can see it. You can see his parents behind his smile," she shrugged, "I think some of it is for his brother." She looked up to her cousin, "what would you do for a twin who has to take lives Bia? Not like Kratos, or Nike, or even Zelos does. For someone who is always there, just at the end of it. I think Hypnos asks that question a lot."
She reached down to get a fortune cookie, breaking it in half. "I do not get that girl. Hades can seriously kidnap me any time he wants." She smirked to that. "Something about a god that a lot of us fear you know?"
She smiled up to Bia, "it's because you love me." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
powerandmight 2011-09-08 05:49 am (local) (link) Bia considered this for a moment. "I guess that comes with being a Di Nocti. They can be a fucking scary bunch, and that's me saying that." She thought a little more. "I don't really know," she said at last. "I've never been in that position so I can't even speculate. I'll bet he does ask that a lot."
She snorted. "Neither do I, but I don't think I've ever spoken to her. And you have fun with that."
She stuck out her tongue. "Yeah, yeah. Apparently you're a lovable Titan or something." She grinned. (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
torchywitch 2011-09-08 05:56 am (local) (link) She shrugged and read he fortune, before setting it aside to eat the cookie itself. "I don't find them that intimidating. But I am a goddess of night so maybe I am an honorary member or something." Then she frowned, "I think a lot of it is because Thanatos really needs to smile more. He's cute when he smiles."
She chuckled, "Well not now. He's only got eyes for the special snowflake now. And don't tell me you wouldn't."
