Who: Maid Marian and Robin Hood What: Weekend shopping turns bad. Oh and Robin meets his match. Where: Grocery store When: Sunday evening Warnings: Mild violence, possible swearing Note: Reposted as a favour
Marian usually stocked up on groceries this time of the week, so it was no surprise she was in the corner grocer that evening. The usual hustle and bustle of the city seemed to apply inside the store as carts were pushed to and fro, hardly a person excused themselves when they cut someone else off. Even Marian, likable as she was, wasn't given an apology when someone pushed past her. But she didn't seem bothered by the incident. In a city this size it would be strange not to be pushed around in one way or another. At least this was just someone racing for the cookies and not someone trying to steal from her.
Because of how busy it was it had taken her a little longer than usual, but when she finally checked out at the front was when she felt eyes on her. Glancing around, she didn't see anyone looking at her except occasional glances from other shoppers. But still she felt eyes and it unnerved her a little. After paying, she picked up her bags and headed for the door all the while very much aware of something strange in the air. She didn't like it. It made her feel paranoid, and Marian was not the type to worry about things for no reason. Maybe I should do my shopping earlier in the day.

[info]stealn_ur_richz 2010-12-06 09:10 pm (local) (link) Track This It was a beautiful dusky afternoon, Robin whistled as he walked around the store doing a little mild shopping of his own. While most women clutched their purses, other tended to leave them hanging on the side of a shopping cart, unattended. With anyone that filled their cart with health food all stamped above average prices, there was some gold hidden in that purse. Men were a little harder to snitch from, but as he walked towards the front of the store, giving the cashier a cute smile and tip of his head, Robin hadn't come out completely empty-handed for the night.
There was still time for one more.
He'd only seen the back of her head and that lovely little profile before she'd stepped out the door. As purposefully as he could the wily Robin bumped into her causing those bags to drop to the ground along with all their contents and her bag
"I'm so sorry milady," he said slipping out that old tongue without even realizing it. Maybe it was something in her presence, he wasn't really sure, but either way those bright eyes and flashy smile turned on the charm as he attempted to help her de-bag all the contents as well as idly make a dodge for whatever was in that bag.

[info]undamsel 2010-12-07 09:26 am (local) (link) Track This Marian could have cursed him and slapped him for being such a klutz. But she didn't. Instead, she knelt down and quickly picked up the contents of her purse first. "No, it's fine," she said in as friendly a tone as possible. It was quite possible he hadn't seen her at all and jumping to conclusions only made things worse because that meant she was flustered. And she did not need to get flustered.
But as she did so the word 'milady' hit her rather sharply over the head. Milady? When was the last time someone had used that word? When was the last time she had heard that? And not on a movie set at that.
She'd managed to finish putting her groceries back into their bags and was just checking her purse, only to find that one thing was missing. She looked at him, "Did you see my wallet?" She blinked. His face seemed familiar but it was hard to tell in these times. Maybe it was her mind playing tricks on her.

[info]stealn_ur_richz 2010-12-07 09:15 pm (local) (link) Track This Handing her a tube of lipstick, he still flashed that darling smile. Feigning ignorance he looked around on the pavement for the 'missing' wallet. "I don't see it," he replied shuffling around as if he'd dropped a contact. If it meant getting to stick around this pretty face again for a few more minutes then picking her had been a rather fantastic idea.
Standing up he helped her to her feet, still looking around on the ground for any trace of product that she had dropped. He took the grocery bag from her. "Here, let me help you to your car. It's the least I can do. I'm not the most balanced of blokes," that British accent of his starting to feather out the longer he poked around talking.
With his free hand he pushed the wallet down further in his back pocket before she found it sticking out, blowing his cover.

[info]undamsel 2010-12-07 10:36 pm (local) (link) Track This She took the lipstick and tucked it away into her purse. Her eyes narrowed a little, knowing her wallet had been in there as she looked at the ground. She wasn't leaving without her wallet. End of story.
A brow rose at his chivalry, but she accepted it nonetheless. She offered a quick smile, "Thank you." That was something she hadn't seen in... how many years had it been now? "It's not necessary. I walked, actually." Which was true. She wasn't just saying that to try and get her bag back and be an independent woman. Marian had never tried to get rid of her own accent, so when she heard a hint of British from him for a moment she thought he was trying to be clever.
Still, she kept looking for her wallet. She looked under the cars that were parked nearby and even looked through the glass doors of the store. It was nowhere to be found and she couldn't help being suspicious of this stranger. She even casually walked around him pretending to be looking around him and not at him. Then she stood up straight and sighed. She would have to replace everything.

[info]stealn_ur_richz 2010-12-07 10:51 pm (local) (link) Track This "Then I'll walk you to your door," he offered. He may be a thief, but he was still a nice guy. He'd thank her later when there were pictures of happy faced orphans that had something to look at Christmas morning. Business for him had kind of slugged downhill since the time in jail because of some big swift tycoon and his big mouth. People just didn't know how to be nice anymore.
He stepped along with her watching as she continued to scour around for a wallet she would never find. Unless she went digging down his pockets, which he may not object to either, but he'd better stash it somewhere else she couldn't find.
"I'm sorry, did I catch your name?" he asked slyly. "In case I run back across your wallet on my way back home." He had every intention of looking this one up.
That smile of his, it was almost too charming.

[info]undamsel 2010-12-07 11:13 pm (local) (link) Track This She just had to give it up. As soon as she had the chance she would be calling the credit card companies. Unfortunately for anyone who found the wallet they would not find a load of cash, but receipts for charities she had donated to anonymously and all her id's.
She considered him a moment. He didn't seem bad, but you never knew in this city. The nicest person could end up being your worst nightmare. Then she nodded, "Alright, but it's a couple blocks away."
At that she started off in one direction. She was clearly not happy about having lost her wallet. There was no way it just up and disappeared. Things like that simply didn't happen.
"No, you didn't. Marian Bower," she said. She would have shaken his hand except that both of them had bags. If he was familiar at all with stunt doubles he would have noticed her name from various movies, or even some shows that went on on Broadway.

[info]stealn_ur_richz 2010-12-07 11:29 pm (local) (link) Track This There may have been times Robin had felt he'd met his Marian a few times over the years, but all ended up just being cheap imitations. Then again perhaps he just wanted to see her again that bad. There was no Robin Hood without Maid Marian.
So when she said her name he near dropped that bag but managed to keep a calm composure. "Oh from the movies right?" he asked pointing a finger out from under the bag at her, but not able to shake that odd sensation that jolted through his system. "Robert Hunter," he added.

[info]undamsel 2010-12-08 10:43 am (local) (link) Track This Cheap imitations. They might have well have been dolls. Or prostitutes. Depends on how any given guy swung. But that's entirely beside the point.
She nodded, "One in the same. I'm surprised anyone even pays attention to the stunt doubles. They're usually more focused on celeb's. But eh," she shrugged. She didn't mind so much because she wasn't constantly being tailed by paparazzi. Even though she had noticed that strange energy she always felt around other immortals she paid it no attention now, just as she always did. "Nice to meet you, Robert." She was still just as polite as she had been ages ago, but there was still a sense of fiery adventure.

[info]stealn_ur_richz 2010-12-08 08:00 pm (local) (link) Track This "I'm not the average person," he said giving her a twinkle with the why he flashed those shiny white teeth at her. "I notice the little things."
He continued to walk until they reached the right building as per her instruction. "The pleasure is mine lass." Again his old tongue slipped out and he laughed it away. "Taking on an old english course online. Try to slip in some phrases into my everyday vocabulary." Robin was great at fibs and disguise, that was if she fell for it. He may have been able to hide behind that British accent, but he couldn't hide the fact that he was a little out of place. It was all a little Erroll Flynn like for most people.

[info]undamsel 2010-12-09 02:03 pm (local) (link) Track This Marian lived in one of the nicer parts of the city, which was probably Robin had even been at that particular grocer to begin with. Her building wasn't extravagant but it was definitely more upscale. Hey, she gave to charities and paid for building repairs anonymously!
She nodded, "I can tell." Then she smirked at that last part, "Then you notice the great, pulsating energy around us." She figured he had felt it too, simply because every immortal she'd run into so far had similar experiences. Truth be told, she still preferred the presence of mortals. Her brows rose slightly, "They seem to be doing a splendid job. You actually sound the real thing."
Even from outside she could see the security guard sitting behind the desk on the ground floor. That put her at ease a little, so she unlocked the outside door. She offered him a more genuine smile as she turned to him, "Thank you for carrying one of my bags." She then took it from him and held the door open with her foot. "It was a pleasure to have met you. Perhaps our paths will cross again. I bid you farewell." Why on earth any modern day woman (or man, really) would even say that was strange. Then again, she was British and perhaps it was just part of her every day vocabulary. She carefully sidled inside, letting the door close behind her.
