Who: Fenrir, Thor When: Tuesday, June 26, 2012 Where: Some random street What: Yo, Thor! What up, bitch?
He was following Thor. It was not stalking, except in the most literal sense of tracking someone with the intent to possibly eat them. That was the only way Fenrir knew how to follow someone. But he had only started doing it a few minutes ago, when he caught Thor's scent.
They were not far from Hel's apartment, so Fenrir had initially started tracking Thor in order to make sure the Thunderer wasn't planning on breaking in and murdering Fenrir's siblings. Thor had not said anything about doing that, but he'd also been spending more time around Loki lately. That was the sort of thing that made people murderous.
But Thor had veered away from the apartment, and so Fenrir had started following him mostly for the fun of it. He had been ducking into alleys and behind trashcans when Thor turned around to look over his shoulder. He wondered how long he could do this before the Thunderer took notice.
Thor had been out of sorts since this shift. It was odd grappling between what he knew to be true and what man constructed. Man had created this new relationship with he and Loki. Thor was uncomfortable with that. They'd both met up reluctantly to find his hammer---which had been a success. Getting it out of his possession via Loki had also been a success. That pissed Thor off more than anything. The closer they had gotten to the hammer, the closer its power. Even moreso was that brief moment when Thor actually trusted Loki again---that's when the shape-shifting weasel used Thor again.
The last person he wanted to see was one of Loki's kin. He felt eyes on him, sniffing his trail. That was gonna stop.
Fenrir was quite enjoying this. He was considering scuttling onto a rooftop to get a better vantage point, but he didn't enjoy being up so high. Better to stay on the ground and relatively familiar territory.
The Thunderer knew someone was following him, that much was clear. Fenrir smiled, all teeth, and waited to see what he would do next.
Thor paused, looking over one of his broad shoulders and finding nothing behind him. He turned facing an invisible presence. With a huff he turned back continuing down his destination. Which was really just Thor going to get a bite to eat to drown out the fact he'd been bested by Loki again.
A bite meant the entire all you could eat buffet.
Fenrir considered his options. It would probably be a bad idea to try and eat Thor. He wasn't sure if the Thunderer had gotten his hammer back, and even unarmed, Thor was far from weak.
Also, Jormungandr might be annoyed if Fenrir ate Thor. He would never want to upset his brother.
It might be enough to surprise him, though. That could still be fun. With a smirk, Fenrir crept ahead until he was in an alley ahead of Thor. He waited until Thor was walking past before stepping out of the shadows.
"Hello, Thunderer."
That smell was one of trouble. Thor ignored the child of Loki as it approached, hoping the sight of his back would keep the disrespectful brat at bay. It did not work. When it spoke Thor whipped around with a heavy brow.
"Do not speak to me. Run back to your weasel of a father." He huffed as if to get that nasty smell out of his nose.
Fenrir grinned, showing off a mouthful of teeth. They were not his real teeth of course, not sharp fangs, but he'd found they could still do some damage.
"Father didn't send me," Fenrir said. "Can't I just say hello to family, uncle?"
Fenrir had finally seen the Avengers. It had been hilarious.
If Loki didn't send him then why was he there? "Why are you here?" Thor snapped, as if he'd owned the city already. Hammerless. There was no way he could own the city without it, but it didn't mean he'd lost all his power. The mortals were still raving about him and Loki. If anything it irritated Thor to no end, because now there was that constant thorn in his side that he'd let Loki have the hammer without even meaning to. He'd given in, he'd saw a better side for a glimmer and it was slammed back in his face. If Thor didn't like anything else, he didn't like being shown up.
Fenrir settled on his haunches, still grinning. "Caught your scent. What kind of wolf would I be if I didn't track you?"
"A dumb one," Thor said darkly. He didn't like it. Fenrir smelled of Loki, it was hideous. A wolf and a man at the same time, it was odd. "Why must you continue to follow me?" He'd tried to take a step forward but the child of Loki moved along with him.
"You have your hammer back?" Fenrir asked, answering a question with a question.
"That's none of your business!" Thor hissed. He was sore over his hammer. It took so much work to find it and it was stolen from him right up under his nose. If he'd had his hammer he would be far more smug than this.
Fenrir did not know much about human psychology, but he knew no one was that angry over something that had gone well. He laughed, a sharp, barking sound.
"You were a fool to trust my father. Probably already knew that, though."
"I'm no fool. Your father is a traitor." Thor wanted to believe again that at some point he and Loki really were friends. That they still could be, but each time Loki took Thor for an idiot it only infuriated the Asgardian more. They'd all played their roles, now it was a little bit like floundering around like a fish. Thor knew who he really was but stories were changing. Loki could slip through the cracks of change and shift, while still holding on to himself. Thor on the other hand was a little more difficult. These changes became a little deeper, embedding themselves inside him. He wondered if things continued if he'd even know himself anymore. Or he would be this carbon copy of some Marvel-verse superhero.
He needed his hammer back. He needed to feel his own power.
"Not the first time he's betrayed you," Fenrir said with a shrug. "What's it the humans say? 'Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me?' Can't say you didn't see it coming."
"The humans are the ones that did this." His fist clenched. On his own Thor would not have let Loki run. But for a brief moment he gave his old friend the benefit of the doubt. Suddenly his anger turned on Loki's spawn. He loomed, eyes not once blinking as he starred Fenrir down. "Where has he taken my hammer?!"
Fenrir bared his teeth. Hammer or no, a beating from Thor would not be pleasant.
"Do you really think he tells us anything about his plans? Did Odin ever tell you about any of his plans?"
Thor didn't plan on being nice. He was missing something that was grave to his very existence and he was threatened. Fenrir was the closest to Loki as possible. Rationality was out the window. He grunted, teeth visible and nostrils flared.
"Don't care. Want my hammer." He came at Fenrir, his grip strong around his collar. "He might not tell you his plans, but you can find out. Unless you like your wolf face smothered into the cement."
Fenrir reacted instinctively, lunging forward and sinking his teeth into Thor's shoulder. He'd been aiming for the throat, but Thor had managed to jerk away. So Fenrir dug his teeth into the meat instead, blood pooling in his mouth as he brought his legs up to kick at Thor's stomach.
The Aesir were fucking rude.
Thor's large hands grabbed Fenrir's neck, tightening so to pull his teeth from his flesh. It ripped a good chunk, blood pouring down his clothes. He thinned Fenrir's neck between his grip, slamming him face down into the concrete.
If Fenrir had been a more patient creature, he might have tried explaining to Thor that he was reasonably sure Loki wouldn't cross the street for him if he didn't feel like it, let alone give Thor back his hammer. But Fenrir was not patient, nor was he interested in peacefully talking things out.
He was mostly interested in ripping Thor's stupid face off. His weak little human fingernails weren't going to do that, so Fenrir toed his shoes off (they were impossible to get off later) and let the change overtake him.
His spine cracked as he started to change, elongating and moving as the bones in his arms and legs started snapping and rearranging themselves. Fur sprouted up from his skin, the feeling overwhelmingly itchy even amongst all the pain.
He raised a hand that was rapidly sprouting claws and scraped it down Thor's chest.
Thor ripped at the animal with his bare hands, yanking fur and skin. The animals teeth grabbed again, Thor not even batting an eye. He was powerful, his hands could still tear a bear in two if he wanted to. Blood covered him, nails and teeth gnashing any part he could get a hold of. He had no shame in biting down, but wolf tasted nasty, and his human teeth could only crush.
He grunted heavy, yanking Fenrir by the scruff of the neck, slinging the dog off with a harsh throw. He landed against a building, enough to jar it. It gave Thor a chance to stand, pounding his fist into his other hand as he launched again. He would make bones crack. He grabbed Fenrir by the leg dragging him behind him like some kind of limp doll.
Fenrir lunged forward, sinking his teeth into Thor's arm. These were his proper teeth, the kind designed to rip meat from bone.
'You can beat me to death a thousand times over and it won't get you your hammer back, stupid Aesir,' Fenrir said, digging his teeth that much harder into Thor's arm.
Thor punched the wolf across the muzzle, jerking his fangs from his arm, crushing bone where he could. Loki would find one of his children on his doorstep, cold and lifeless if this beast continued. Thor was not one to give in when it came to a bare hands fight.
It was no time for the wolf to have approached him when Thor was raging from Loki's deception. He had padded on dangerous ground. "I'll break your jaw, wolf." He barred his own teeth, not letting the pain seethe through him. It wasn't going to show.
Fenrir scraped his claws against Thor's injured arm until he managed to wiggle loose from the Thunderer. His fur was bristling, his lips were drawn back and bloody.
'Keep this up and you'll be dying early, movie or not,' Fenrir said. 'You're not Odin, but you'll do.'
Truth be told, he had no idea if he could kill Thor in a straight fight. The Thunderer was no normal human. But showing fear would only make him look weak.
His teeth gritted feeling his arm swell against Fenrir's attacks. He kept punching back with a fist as hard as steel. Even without his hammer his strength cracked like lightening. He was of unearthly strength, more than what any human could ever imagine. Whether he came out of this fight dead or scraped would be up to how long Fenrir could hold out. Thor was never going to end a fight. He would go down fighting until his last breath. Odin's son didn't fight for just the joy of it, he fought to win.
They were however in broad daylight. Disclosed by concrete walls or not, they had been spotted by passerbys. While authorities would try to break it up, it was uncertain where this would go. There was still a code they needed to follow under the human mortal cloak.
Fenrir heard the police sirens long before he saw them. He cocked his head, never taking his eyes off Thor. His muzzle was covered in Thor's blood and he could feel one of his ribs throbbing with pain every time he moved.
'Police are coming, Thunderer,' Fenrir said. 'You bulletproof?'
