Who: Pride & Greed What: A pair of rather catty Sins meeting up When: Wednesday night Where: Upscale restaurant Warnings: Possible language, mentions of past not nice stuff, Pride and Greed being themselves, TBD
Pride had been doing a very good job of studiously ignoring the other Sins unless they should happen to cross her path. Setting Sloth up with Dominic had not been a purely selfless gesture, because nothing she did ever was. There was always something in it for her in everything she did. In this case, a new husband-to-be. Not that he knew that part yet.
But tonight, she was going to go out for dinner by herself, because as much as she liked to shine in a crowd, she enjoyed her time by herself as well. She was currently working her way through her second cocktail when she felt another Sin very close by. She sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose. Hopefully this wouldn't take too long.
Greed's suit was spiffy, tailored perfectly against his handsome form. It even matched his eyes. His behavior as always could be picked out by those who knew him, especially his fellow sins. When he wasn't suave, mean or charming, he was a little boy. He'd already indulged himself in a few drinks, pocketing the napkin under his glass. The designs had caught his eye, and even though the glass left a wet ring on the paper, it was just another item to his collection. No telling where it would end up.
His laugh could be heard across the room. When he turned from his small gathering, he plucked Pride out from the crowd with his bright eyes. Oh this should be fun. With a slappy grin on his face, he plucked the drink by its stem and carried it with him toward the power source. One thing could be said, Pride certainly hadn't gotten ugly.
The corner of Pride's mouth lifted ever so slightly as she sipped at her cocktail. She enjoyed Greed's presence on occasion, and they'd even worked their influence on a few celebrities and politicians over the years. He wasn't always all bad. Not that she'd ever say so.
She looked up as he approached, inclining her head like a queen, like she owned the place. "Greed," she said as he got closer. "What brings you here tonight?"
With a spin he twirled before sitting beside her. "Enjoying the view," he claimed with a grin toward the girls who'd been hanging on by his table. He sipped his drink. "And this." He was bound to start flashing cards and a gambling table if he wanted. But right now he had a fellow sin to entertain him. What entertainment Pride could be.
Pride had to roll her eyes, because sometimes Greed was just so over the top it was ridiculous. "And the more they hang about, the more they want you, is that it?" she asked, arching one eyebrow. She signaled the waiter for another drink and a menu.
"I'm not a love god, Pride," Greed snorted with a flippant turn of his nose. "But they do want something from me." He wasn't Lust, though sometimes he could so use her power. He'd missed her. He pursed his lips with a fake kiss and wave of his hand. He was bored with those humans now. "They just aren't interesting." He needed someone good. Someone that was good enough to leech on. Suck them dry. He hadn't found it yet. Meanwhile, getting a few deadbeat drunks to steal from behind the bar would be fun. It just wouldn't be enough.
