Re: Hector/Achilles/Andromache
[info]holdingfast 2011-06-27 06:51 pm UTC (link) Track This "How would I know? Honor doesn't run very deep into your blood and family." Hector had hardly forgotten what had been done to his body after his death. And all because of a case of mistaken identity, a grudge he felt Achilles held too deep over.
It made him wonder if the rumors were true.
When Andromache spoke to him he turned to her and nodded, leaning down to kiss her. Even from Achilles he wouldn't shy from showing his love for her. "Keep her from the railings." He'd seen Apollo, and he couldn't tackle the sun god for what he'd done to his sister, and didn't even want to know how Cassandra might react if she saw him.
He set his hands in his pockets then looked back to Achilles, fighting hard to find his peace again. He would not lower himself to start a brawl because of this dog. Achilles simply wasn't worth it anymore. "What do you want?"

[info]chink_in_armor 2011-06-28 03:23 am UTC (link) Track This "I'm not my son," Achilles said firmly. He'd resented what his son had done to an enemies wife and child. It was not something Achilles would have ever done, or ever did do. He would not have Hector or his wife speak of him in that way. Even so, despite what his son had done, he was still Achilles' and what father would he be to ignore that fact.
Achilles crossed his arms, standing tall and rigid. "I see you've managed to do well for yourself," his voice clipping, even taunting as if to make fun of the fact he'd run his body into the ground. An event that even so, had not made Achilles feel any better until he was able to see Patroclus again. The hate still lingered.

[info]holdingfast 2011-06-28 03:40 am UTC (link) Track This "No, you just dishonored my body for days. I can see where he got that from." Not even Hector had fallen that low. He'd taken the armor, sure, but he'd done the proper thing for Patroclus.
He gave a tense smile, "I have, in fact. I run my own business, and I'm able to give my sister and wife what they require." He wasn't boasting, much, just answering the unasked question. "I have the life I've always wanted. Some of us were less eager for war then others." He glanced around, finding Andromache easily enough. He worried for her still.

[info]chink_in_armor 2011-06-29 07:22 pm UTC (link) Track This "And of what you did to Patroclus?" Achilles gave a stern huff. He would do his mother no service by starting a brawl here, and his aunt had seen enough violence in the last few days. "I gave your body back at your father's wish."
The air was tense around the two of them as it was expected to be. It had been years since they'd seen each other, and old grudges died hard. "Perhaps those of us knew no other life," he bit back, defensive. Achilles had been pushed into war, though by his own decision, that pride that his father and mother both possessed kept him from desiring the peaceful life. In that aspect he envied Hector for being able to accept it and have it so easily. It was not easy for Achilles to come to peace.
