Amphitrite had been restless most nights, but the last eight hours had been even harder to get through. Every now and then she seemed to be in a state between sleep and being awake but never truly being in one or the other. In the morning when she finally rolled out of bed it proved to be rough on her, physically, but the moment she sat up she cared nothing about how her body felt.
Her brain was telling her things she'd never thought before. Things that would probably have never entered her mind unless prodded to do so.
"Perseus," she said in a whisper, longing to see him. To be with him.
She didn't have his number so she couldn't call him up and she didn't know where he lived, so she felt like a caged bird. She was able to move around but unable to find where he was. Searching the city high and low did come to mind, but she needed him now.
So she did the only thing that felt right. She updated and told him to come to her. It would hopefully be the fastest way of finding him.
And now she waited impatiently, pacing back and forth and peering out the window every two minutes.
Perseus had woken up in the same state. Usually he putzed around his apartment and made coffee and took his time waking his body up, but not today. Today he sat bolt upright and he whispered her name.
He had to be with her. Now.
Frantically, he checked to see if she had left him a message and, upon finding it, he was out his door, his shoes barely on.
He arrived at Amphitrite's door, roses and chocolates in hand, a huge grin on his face. He had never loved someone like this, not even Andromeda.
When Amphitrite felt another presence approaching she hurried to the door. Not a worry about it being anyone but Perseus. Not a thought give to anyone else. She had to see him and him alone.
And when she finally saw him through the peephole the door swung open with vibrato.
"Perseus," she said in a whisper and kissed him deeply.
Perseus pulled her into his arms as he kissed her, going so far as to pick her up and wrap her legs around him as he stepped through her door. She was here, in his arms, and that was all that mattered.
"I came for you," he whispered against her lips as he kissed her.
Amphitrite couldn't express the joy she felt. At seeing him. At being near him. At being touched by him. It was all so intoxicating and wonderful.
"I didn't know how long I could wait. I almost went for you myself," she said as she took a breath. At this point she didn't care where he took her or what they did, just as long as they were together.
"I saw your message," Perseus breathed. "I love you." He kissed her hair and held her close to him. "I love you, Amphitrite. You're beautiful."
This all made perfect sense. Every last bit of it. It all fit together in one perfect little world and her world was perfect now. She nuzzled her nose gently against his and kissed him gently now. "I love you, Perseus. I love you." Just to be so close meant the world to her. Nothing else mattered.
"I don't want to ever let you go," Perseus said firmly. "Never. I want to be by your side forever, Amphitrite."
"Then don't ever leave," she whispered against his lips. She would be eternally happy with that. She would never be alone, never without him, never without their love.
