Who: Katharina Lowsley and Open What: Trying to be social, while being awkwardly socially penguin When: Friday Where: Bar
Kat wasn't all too sure why she was here. Some of her classmates had argued her into coming along as she, quote, 'spend too much time behind the screen of a computer or in books'. She didn't consider this a bad thing. Her form of relaxation and social activities were geared towards either the internet, or by getting lost in a book or game. Her friends really didn't get this, but she'd let herself be guilted into the outing.
She'd had really good arguments for it when she was getting ready, but now she was here they sounded hollow. She didn't see the fun in getting smashed out drunk to where she had to find someone to drive her home or get her into a cab. And in a place where she didn't know a soul she didn't want to lower her guard like that. Thankfully she had no car so she couldn't be talked into playing Designated Driver either.
She checked her phone for the time and calculated when she could leave. She wasn't with either of her siblings, and they knew how she wasn't a fan of bars, so she didn't exactly feel the need to stay longer then she really wanted. But she figured she had a few more before she could try and find an excuse to leave. She settled in for people watching and sipped from the beer she'd ordered at the start of all this. At least she had the excuse of being broke for not buying tons of alcohol.

[info]unarmored 2012-04-28 03:43 pm (local) (link) Track This Friday night, the traditional evening of going out and picking up, but Gabe wasn't really feeling it tonight. He'd had an audition that morning that he was pretty sure had gone terribly and so he was more dwelling than partying. He'd found a corner of the bar with his beer while his friends went and tried out their newest lines of the girls their liked. But Gabe wasn't all that great with lines or, actually, doing the whole social thing at all. He always felt like an idiot around groups of people, which was why acting was better. Pretending to be someone else was easier than being himself.
He'd spotted the girl nearby who kept looking at her phone and decided that diving in was better than standing there looking like a loser. At least talking to her would mean it looked like he was doing something. He sidled up beside her and asked, "waiting for a call?"

[info]shades_of_fate 2012-04-28 03:58 pm (local) (link) Track This The voice made her look up and she smiled, "no. Needed to know the time." Saying she was just waiting to leave, now would sound rude. She tried not to be too rude to strangers. Mostly because a small part of her constantly wondered if everyone she met was like her grandfather.
And pissing off Gods just sounded unhealthy.
"Plus it's a great way to avoid awkward social things," to prove she wasn't hiding she set the phone in her pocket and reminded herself where her mace was. Just in case.
She extended her hand then, "Katharina. Most everyone calls me Kat though."

[info]unarmored 2012-04-28 04:16 pm (local) (link) Track This "Gabriel," Gabe said with what he hoped looked like an easy-going smile as he reached out to shake her hand. "But everyone calls me Gabe unless I'm in trouble. So, Kat," he said as he took his hand back and looked around the bar, "for avoiding social things, a bar is probably a bad place to come."

[info]shades_of_fate 2012-04-28 04:59 pm (local) (link) Track This Smiling she shook his hand and figured it wasn't all that bad. At least a cute guy was talking to her and until interest was lost she could keep herself busy that way.
She gave a chuckle and shrugged, "conned into coming by my classmates. Said it'd be a good thing. Being social sounded like a great idea until I remembered I dislike bars."

[info]unarmored 2012-05-01 06:24 am (local) (link) Track This She had a nice smile and anyone admitting they were socially awkward was okay with Gabe. He pointed casually towards the small group of twenty-something men chatting up some girls and said, "yeah, those are the ones who dragged me out. You'll notice I'm avoiding the big group shows myself and sort of loitering against the wall with my beer."

[info]shades_of_fate 2012-05-01 03:21 pm (local) (link) Track This "I still prefer books and games myself," smiling she picked up her beer and gave him a half cheer with it. "To the ones who aren't fond of all this nonsense." she motioned to the small group, "they won't even know one another's names by tomorrow. The human mating dance is awkward and needs some serious fine tuning."
