Who: Charon & Hades (plus Makaria)
What: 'Hey boss, are your jokes any better yet? *innocent face*'
When: Saturday afternoon
Where: Hades' place
Warnings: Creepy Underworld gods being creepy? Also bad Hades jokes. XD
Charon had been in the city for quite a while, taking no notice of most of the rumblings of the Greeks. The only gods he cared about tended to live in the Underworld, because they were the ones he'd known his entire life.
He'd finished his shift driving the ferry and was thinking of heading home, but there was someone he needed to greet first. He didn't really have an address, just a general feeling. Someone you used to know is that way. So he followed his instinct. It led him to a quiet street, to a house that practically screamed 'Gods live here'. So he mounted the steps and knocked, hoping this was the right place.

Most of the time, Hades ignored visitors. He still wasn't the most social of butterflies, and only a few would choose to visit him. But he'd stopped drinking as much, as he'd promised his daughter. He did have her to think of.
A servant opened the door and narrowed it's eyes at Charon. Most of Hades' employees were shades. He figured he'd give them something to do while they waited. It huffed before motioning him inside. Hades only stirred when Cerberus barked downstairs, and not in an angry way. More of a 'hello old friend' sort of way. Frowning he rose to see the dog greet Charon. The appearance of his old friend made him smile and he walked down the stairs. "Charon, you should have called."

Charon met the shade's gaze, raising an eyebrow before stepping inside. He let Cerberus sniff his hand, giving the hound a scratch on the ears in greeting. "Hello, you," he said. "Been a long time."
He grinned up at Hades. "Since I didn't have an address or phone number, boss, that wasn't really an option. I followed my instincts to get here. But I will next time."

He hadn't considered that, but he just shrugged. He gave Charon his card once he was downstairs before shaking the other God's hands "good seeing you none the less. Been too long, please come in. Interesting things going on."

He stuck the card in his wallet before grasping Hades' hand and shaking it. "You too. Haven't seen anyone from the old days for quite a while, but then again, I usually like it that way."
He followed Hades inside, asking, "Oh? What kind of interesting things?"

He led Charon into one of the studies, Cerberus close on their heels. The dog was just as pleased to see Charon as it's master was. With a smile Hades sat down, "we share that. And Zeus is a statue. No one knows how, or why, or if he's even alive." He couldn't hide the amusement of that, and he knew Charon wouldn't tell. Even if he did he'd be amused to see what the others would do. "He makes for a compelling piece."

Charon took the chair opposite, a slight grin on his face. "Is he now? That's...that's pretty hilarious." No, he wouldn't tell. He'd share a chuckle with Hades over it, but he'd keep it to himself.
He groaned good-naturedly. "That's a groaner there, boss. I see your jokes haven't improved much."

He smirked and shrugged, "they have, actually. Thank you." There were few who really got his jokes. Charon was one of them. "And it is. I'm half inclined to see the rumor spread. Just to see what the vultures would do."
He waved for some refreshments, "do you have a place? You know my home is open for you. MY daughter is up here too. I know you would look out for her."

Charon snorted. "If you say so," he replied. Underworld humor could be really hilarious, but you understood it better if you actually lived in the Underworld. "Start squabbling over his power, most likely, if their past actions are anything to go by."
He shrugged. "I have a tiny little apartment. It's not much, but then again I'm not there much. Although if you've got the space I'd be grateful, and I'd definitely prefer it over the shoebox."
"Makaria is here?" he asked. "You know I would, boss."

He shrugged, "probably. It would still be amusing. I'm a little disappointed Poseidon hasn't made a go at it. Just to see everyone's reactions."
He gave a motion of his hand, "of course. The place is big enough and goes down to my realm. I'll find you quarters once we've caught up." He nodded, "I know. I trust you." He tipped his head, "speaking of Poseidon, we had him as a guest a few weeks back. That was amusing."

Charon rolled his eyes at the mention of the sea god. "It would, and I'd be snickering from afar the whole time."
"That'd be wonderful, thank you," he replied. "Does it really? I wonder if my skiff is still there. That'd bring back some memories."
He'd always appreciated the fact that Hades trusted him. It was a good thing, he thought. He snorted. "Who'd be piss off to be a guest in your realm? Then again, who didn't he piss off?"

Makaria had heard another voice with her father's and, curious that he would have a guest, she made her way downstairs and peered around the door. The man who stood there was familiar to Makaria and she smiled, coming properly into the room.
"Charon," she greeted him with a smile. "Papa, you should have told me we had guests."

"It should be, occasionally I see new souls. I figure they got there somehow. Or there time was up," he shrugged, offering a glass to Charon before leaning back. "A favorite of Zeus'. He attacked the boy because the boy had slept with Amphitrite. Zeus was not so pleased."
When he saw his daughter he rose, "Makaria. I did not think you were in." He smiled to her, "you remember Charon? Charon, you know my daughter. Charon is going to stay with us. We have the room."

"Proving that some things never really change," he said, accepting the glass with a nod. "Yes, because it's always wise to attack on of the Thunder King's favorites," he said dryly. "Such a smart move."
"Yes, of course," he said, rising as well. "Hello, Makaria. I haven't seen you in quite some time, how are you?"

Makaria came to stand beside her father so she could see Charon better. "It will be nice to have someone else here," Makaria nodded and then looked at Charon. "Papa tends to hide himself away with his work. But I'm well. I'm learning around the mortals and attending a university."

He rolled his eyes, "Poseidon's brain is addled by all that sea water," he did not think highly of his little brother, but neither did he think highly of Zeus either. They were both morons in his book.
With a smile he set his hand on his daughter's shoulder, "I'm not used to mortals. It's a surprise and a half I'm even up here."

"Ha! There is so much truth to that," Charon agreed. To Makaria he said, "It'll be nice to be here, I think. With people around whose company I actually enjoy. And university sounds interesting, what are you studying?"
He snorted again. "True enough. And Makaria's right, you do tend to hide yourself away, boss. Why are you up here, if you don't mind me asking?"

"A little of everything," Makaria admitted. "There's a lot in the world I have to catch up on from being below." She didn't fault her father for keeping her there, but she was enjoying the learning now that she was outside.

He motioned for Makaria to sit before sitting down again himself. To Charon's question he shrugged. "There is very little to do anymore in my realm. So now I work here, but even so most of my time I spend inside. I'm not too fond of the outside world."
