Who: Hermes & Cordelia Lowsley
What: Ohhi, nice to see you, btw can you help me annul the marriage I made while under a love spell?
When: Tuesday afternoon
Where: Hermes' office
Cordelia hadn't seen her grandfather since she'd arrived in the city, but she told herself that it figured her first visit would be something like this. If anyone could help her with this, it would be Hermes.
And it wasn't that she didn't like Phantasos, because she did. But it didn't feel right staying married to him, especially since they'd both said yes while under thrall. If they were going to do this, they were going to do it from square one, and do it right. Which basically meant pushing the reset button in regards to this marriage.
She found the correct building and went inside, fidgeting a little awkwardly while she waited for Hermes to appear.

Hermes' bodyguards were the ones to come meet Cordelia and lead her into Hermes' office. He was sitting behind his large desk but he looked up and then smiled widely when his granddaughter walked in.
Jumping out of his chair, he waved his guards away again and then he walked over to her to wrap his arms around her in a tight hug. Hermes had many children and grandchildren and some he didn't care for. The Lowsley girls, however, had always been some of his favourites. "Cordelia, it's wonderful to see you."

Eyes widening slightly at being escorted by bodyguards, she nonetheless followed them into Hermes' office. The hug was definitely appreciated, and she wrapped her arms around him too, smiling into his shoulder. "You too," she said. "Sorry to show up and see you for the first time, asking for help and all, but I didn't know who else to go to."

Being an Olympian, Hermes was entirely used to being asked to do things. He had hardly noticed, and really he was just glad to see Cordelia at all. "Oh, it's no bother. Come sit. Would you like some tea or coffee?" he asked while showing her to his sofa.

"Tea would be awesome, thank you," she said, taking a seat on the sofa and glancing around the office. She'd never been here before, never really seen where her grandfather worked.
She twisted her hands a little in her lap. "So, I'm guessing you'd probably like to know how I wound up married in the first place."

Hermes set about getting her some tea while she spoke. When she finished he turned and gave her a supportive smile. It wasn't as if he could really judge. "It would probably be a good idea for me to understand," he said, winking at her.

She rested her head against the back of the couch, like the ceiling would provide the best place for her to begin her story. It remained unhelpfully blank, so she sat up and started to speak.
"It was Valentine's Day," she said at last. "I woke up, and I couldn't get his face out of my head. I had to find him, to be with him, or it felt like I'd die. And then he bought me flowers, and he proposed, and I said yes because, at that moment, nothing would have made me happier. So we got married, and then woke up the next morning and everything was...everything was just weird." She sighed. "I've been told Eros is fond of doing this to people, but I can't say I really appreciate it."

As soon as she spoke, Hermes stopped smiling. "Eros," he growled, clenching his jaw. Hermes shook his head and brought her her tea and then he finally said, "he does this every year. I'm sorry you got messed up in it. Of course we'll get it taken care of. I just need to know who the other person was."
Hermes intended to take care of the little fucker too.

She hadn't been expecting a reaction quite like that, but from some of the stories she'd heard, she wasn't really too surprised. "I'm guessing his learning curve isn't the greatest," she said, sipping at her tea.
"Phantasos," she said. "He was really sweet to me, but it's not fair to either of us to still be in this marriage, especially since we were under thrall when we said yes." She sighed. "It's all so messed up."

"No, Eros isn't capable of learning. Just of pissing everyone off," he said, taking a seat. He put his legs up on the coffee table and leaned back beside her.
"Phantasos, hmmm? I'm glad he was sweet to you so I don't have to kill him. But you're right, I can't imagine it feels nice being married to someone you didn't really feel anything for. I'll take care of it, but I'll probably have to contact him too."

"Good to know," she muttered into her tea. "He definitely didn't win any points from me."
"No, Papou, don't kill him," she said. "Then more people would be pissed off. Besides, we're having coffee soon, and it's hard to have a date when one of the parties is dead. I probably would have gone out with him if we'd met normally, but then everything happened."
"Whatever you think is best," she replied. "I knew we'd have to talk to him too, and we'll both have to sign the papers, won't we?"

Hermes chuckled and he nodded. "Alright, no killing. Posthumous dates wouldn't be so enjoyable, no. So do you like him then? And yes, you'll both have to sign the papers. I have a judge on my payroll who can get it all taken care of very quickly."

She smiled at that. "Thank you. And no, not unless you know a good medium. And that'd still be kind of odd."
She ducked her head, letting her hair fall over her face for a moment. "Yeah," she said softly. "I do. But I want it to happen because it's supposed to, you know? Not because someone forced us."
She nodded. "OK. I'm glad you do, in this case. Dragging it out seems like the worst option."
