Who: Phoebe, Asteria, Hecate What: Titanesses having dinner When: Saturday evening Where: Phoebe's house
If this had still been Greece at the height of her power, Phoebe would probably have been literally glowing, that's how pleased she was. Her daughter had returned to her, and she was going to meet her granddaughter (Again? Perhaps. It had been so long ago.), and they were going to have a lovely meal together.
She hadn't heard any specific requests, so she fell back on the things she knew: Greek food. A salad with feta cheese, tomatoes, and olives, lamb stew, fresh baked crusty bread, and baklava for desert, accompanied by a few bottles of a very nice wine she'd picked up while doing the shopping.
Leaving the bread in the oven so it would stay warm, she put the finishing touches on the table, then uncorked the wine to let it breathe. Forcing herself not to over-adjust every little detail, she stepped back and looked at the table with a critical eye. Perfect. Now, the only thing missing was her family.

But clothing was unimportant to her now and she'd lost the knack or desire to dress up. So when she appeared at her mother's door and knocked she was dressed only in her usual dark trousers and gray shirt.
She turned to look at Hecate beside her and forced a smile onto her lips. She already knew that Phoebe would adore the girl and Asteria had no doubt the two of them were going to get along. (Reply to this)(Thread)

She grinned in return to her mother, knowing the other Titaness was making huge strides to be back to something closer to her usual self. In the distance, she heard dogs and smiled. She'd left her own dogs, including Hekuba, at home. She didn't want to impose too much. (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)

Smoothing down her dress, she opened the door, smiling at the two women on the other side. "Hello, welcome to my home," she said. "Please, come inside," she said, stepping aside so they could enter. "Dinner is ready, I just need to take the bread out of the oven." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
thefallingstar 2011-10-30 08:46 pm (local) (link) Immediately Asteria went to embrace Phoebe, the only person in the world who didn't seem to make her flesh feel like it was burning at their touch. "Mother," she said by way of greeting into that bright hair. When she drew back it was to gesture with a hand to Hecate beside her. "Mother, this is my daughter, my Hecate."
Here in the company of Phoebe and Hecate, Asteria was smiling more brightly than she had in decades. (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
torchywitch 2011-10-30 11:49 pm (local) (link) Hecate could not contain her smile, so didn't. She walked into the house behind her mother before grinning to her grandmother and stealing a rather quick and tight hug. Then she drew back and grew more serious, bowing properly as was befit her status and her grandmothers. "Grandmother." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
crownedingold 2011-10-31 12:26 am (local) (link) Phoebe beamed at both of them, hugging them each in turn. "It's so lovely to meet you, Hecate," she said, bowing in return. "Asteria speaks so highly of you, I've been very much looking forward to meet you. Please, this way." She led the way into her dining room, pulling chairs out for them. "Would anyone like some wine?" thefallingstar 2011-10-31 05:10 am (local) (link) Asteria nodded to her mother's offer of wine and, for a moment, felt the desire to give permission to Hecate to drink as well. But Hecate was a grown woman. She slipped her hand into Hecate's, squeezing it just for a moment, before taking it away and sitting. (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
torchywitch 2011-10-31 06:43 pm (local) (link) She smiled to the touch on her hand and her grandmothers offer, taking a seat first. "I would love some wine grandmother." Curiously she looked around, wanting to know all she could of this woman who she didn't have any memories of. "And I am very pleased to meet you. Whatever mama said is probably too much praise." crownedingold 2011-11-01 01:34 am (local) (link) "She said that you were well remembered and strong, and from the way she said it, she's proud of you. Well deserved, I think," she said, pouring three glasses of wine, setting one before each of her guests. "Excuse me a moment." She slipped into the kitchen, removed the bread from the oven and placed it on a wooden board, along with a knife and some butter.
Carrying it back into the dining room, she set it on the table and took her own seat. She picked up the salad and passed it to her right. She still had rather old-fashioned manners, but she didn't see anything wrong with that.
"I'm so glad the both of you are here," she said, smiling again. "It's been so long since I've seen any of my kin, I was beginning to think they'd all vanished and I just wasn't aware." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
thefallingstar 2011-11-01 01:00 pm (local) (link) "There is not enough praise in the world for you," Asteria whispered to her daughter in the moments that Phoebe was out of the room. Hecate had become stronger and more resourceful than Asteria had ever dreamed for her.
"Some of us having been lying low," Asteria said in reference to herself. "I am not overly good with people." (Reply to this)(Parent)
