Who: Huitzilopotchli and Tezcatlipoca
When: Thursday
Where: Huitzi's place
Warning: Aztecs, TBD
Knowing Tezcatlipoca was back was both good and bad. He knew that sooner or later both Quetzalcoatl and Tezcatlipoca would start their bickering again. He had no concern for their well being, they were Gods and as such they'd live, but in this new world of theirs any damages done in their surroundings would cause questions. That and he didn't think it wise o continue with petty grievances while living in a land full of enemies. He hoped to have Tezcatlipoca see this when he came to visit.
He'd kept some of the warriors he felt may serve Tezcatlipoca better near him. He still wasn't about to let them go without brokering a trade, but that was par the course. He'd always established some sort of working relationship with Tezcalipoca and saw no reason not to continue that.
When the other God arrived his priest led him up to the top floor and onto the small balcony where Huitzilopotchli and his idol were. When he noticed his old friend he smiled and rose. "Good seeing you again."

It wasn't too difficult to find Huitzilopotchli once he honed in on the sense in the back of his brain. And he knew he was in the right place when he saw the hummingbirds painted on a few different walls, a clear indication that this territory had been claimed by the Hummingbird.
Eventually he found the right building, where he was met by a man who introduced himself as Huitzilopotchli's priest and escorted him upstairs. The other god was waiting for him on the balcony, and he grinned a bit in spite of himself. He'd always considered him a friend, they thought along many of the same lines. "And you," he replied. "Many years have passed." But you appear to be doing well for yourself."

"As well as possible in enemy territory," the loss of power wasn't something he often lamented. It was a bother, but the true test of his skills lay in claiming what he could without his full strength.
He motioned to the plate of cut meat, "feel free. My warriors are out getting me more anyway." He tilted his head, "the ones who remained are the ones I felt more adequate to your service." He paused for a moment, "I've been training your son as well. I wasn't letting him meet you without having basic knowledge. He has potential."

"Ah, true enough," he agreed.
He inclined his head graciously, saying "Thank you," before picking up a piece of the meat and chewing on it thoughtfully. There was so much to discuss, and he appreciated Huitzilopochtli's head first approach.
"I should like to meet them," he replied. "Them, and my son. And I'm told I have a daughter as well. I appreciate you looking after him and teaching him. Potential must be encouraged. How is he progressing?"

He leaned on the railing of the balcony, hardly fearing the potential fall. "We'll figure out a trade." He knew that Tezcatlipoca was new to the city and he had the advantage now, but he also knew if he did Tezcatlipoca favor now it'd be returned in time.
"They're up on the roof." He sighed, "someone had to. Quetzalcoatl finds too much joy in teasing them. I'm not fond that he put his issues with you on those two. The girl wanted to learn as well, even if I kept telling her her skills were elsewhere. Stubborn. And he can hold his own against one of mine now. Starting to think like you now. Still thinking too much like a mortal, but I can ignore that. According to what I've learned from them, the ones who raised them raised them as mortals rather then as what they are. If you intend to train him I think in two years he'll reach his potential." He shrugged, "I cannot say anything about the girl. I have no idea how to train women, but she gave my training a shot. I'll give her that."

"I have no doubt we can work something out," Tezcatlipoca agreed. He'd never had a problem working with the other god, and things usually worked out so that they both got what they wanted.
His face darkened at the mention of Quetzalcoatl teasing his children. "Is that so," he said darkly. "If he does more than tease them, I will have to have...'words' with him. His quarrel is with me."
He brightened slightly at the news that his son was like him, and that his daughter was stubborn. They both sounded very much like him, and even though he was never going to be father of the year, he still wanted to meet them and make sure they were alright.
"I can certainly train him," he agreed. "And perhaps the girl will respond better to training in magic, rather than might. I'll need to meet them both first. They'll need to shake off anything left that the mortals who raised them imparted to them."
"But for now, let's go and inspect your warriors, hmm?" he said, finishing off his snack. It had reminded him just how hungry he was. "Since the children are not here at the moment."

He nodded, "we always do." He moved off the railing at Tezcatlipoca's suggestion and moved up to the roof. With the warmer weather he was able to let the birds out more, and with Xochipilli's flowers they never strayed too far.
He glanced back at the other god and raised an eyebrow. "Keep it at words. We cannot afford to have inner discord like the Greeks. Not if we intend to carve a piece of this city out for ourselves and the Christians are far too numerous. We're going to have to be united if we want our vengeance."
He gave a nod, "such was my assumption. I do not like magic. Reminds me of my sister. I told her I focused on strength but she kept at it for a few weeks." He waved the three warriors forward and they knelt before the two gods. He'd taught them respect and worship. "I wish I could offer more aid, but these know the ways of the city. None of them can be true devotees, but you'll find one of those in time."

Tezcatlipoca muttered a few choice words about Quetzalcoatl under his breath, a muscle twitching in his jaw. His lips peeled back over his teeth with Huitzilopochtli mentioned the Christians. They were the only ones he hated more than Quetzalcoatl.
"The Serpent and Christians in the same city," he said at last. "I certainly know when to come back, don't I? But I promise not to skin him and turn him into boots. I'd rather have vengeance on the Christians than on Quetzalcoatl."
"She wouldn't have really been mine if she had not tried," he replied. "And I know you do not care for magic, my friend, but it is my domain. We shall see if she has any talent for it."
He waved away the concerns. "You have done plenty, and I will remember it. I'll have to find someplace to house all of us, but that shouldn't be a problem."
He addressed his next question to the warriors. "Since you know the ways of the city, perhaps you can tell me where to find the Temple the Serpent mentioned?"

He chuckled to the reaction and comment. He was used to it, and the familiarity of it all was almost relaxing. Things were getting back to normal. "You do have a certain timing, I'll agree with you there. Let the old grudges settle with him."
"She is female. Seems like she'd have more of a knack for it." He shrugged, "ask them. Plenty of places for sale. Ask the mortals." The warriors nodded, and said it would probably be best to just show Tezcatlipoca. The city could get confusing for any newcomer.
