WHO: Klymene & Prometheus
WHEN: Sunday afternoon, 19th Feb
WHERE: Prometheus' studio
WHAT: If you ignore momma she'll get cross.
WARNINGS: tba
For the last two days Klymene had been trying to call both of her sons to arrange a nice family dinner and neither of them would answer her. Some might have let their boys be boys and avoid her, but Klymene was not that 'some'.
So on Sunday afternoon she strode banged on the door of Prometheus' building and when that didn't work she called out, "if you don't open the door this very minute I'm calling the fire brigade to break it down." Already she was pulling out her cell phone. "I'm dialing now." The options were that he was home and ignoring her, or something had happened to him and she needed to get inside anyway. Either way, this door was going to open.

After having told his brother about what he'd done to Pandora, and with her, he'd sort of climbed in his studio and refused to come out or be social. About an hour ago he'd found that the temptation of liquor was too great to ignore and knowing the consequences had started to drink.
Which was when his mother knocked and knowing she'd make good on her threat. So he set the bottle down and opened the door, giving her a look that would say he wasn't in the mood for company to normal people but he knew she'd ignore and wandered back to his table to take another drink from the bottle.

Klymene was ready to begin her annoyed snapping at her son for ignoring her and that he'd better have a good excuse, but then Prometheus had a bottle of alcohol in hand and Klymene stopped dead at the first syllable of her planned rant.
"What are you doing?" she demanded, perhaps even more furious now than she had been before. Was Prometheus self-destructing and, if so, who was Klymene going to have to point Iapatos towards to destroy.

"Having a drink," he felt sullen and rather in need of a drink. He'd just about ruined the relationship he had with his brother, and Epimetheus completed him. If that wasn't occasion enough to drink, even if it could get him a trip to the hospital, he didn't know what was.
"Jade left it behind. Pretty good. Want some?" Probably not how he should greet his mother but he was in a mood.

Klymene watched him without a word for moment. Something had happened, something horrible. Her sweet baby boy needed to be protected and held and loved.
Klymene snatched the bottle from her son's hand and threw it violently at the wall behind him. "Idiot!" she hissed and then, without pause, her hand was on his cheek, tilting his face up to hers. "Tell me what they've done to you, my boy. Tell me who's hurt you and I'll make them pay, just you watch."

He watched the bottle hit the wall with some fascination, "hey." He frowned to his mothers touch and sighed looking at her. Might as well. "I hurt myself. I was struck by Eros on Valentines. I slept with Pandora." He tilted his head out of his mother's touch, because he didn't feel like he deserved it. "Now Epimetheus hates me."

A sneer came to Klymene's lips but it wasn't for Prometheus. That traitorous little Olympian trap and her whoring ways. Klymene didn't believe for even a moment that Pandora was an innocent party in any of this. She'd been made to break her son from the very beginning.
"My beautiful boy." Klymene's didn't let him escape from her, slipping down onto her knees and holding his face gentle between her hands. "Eros' disgusting games are low business and he'd be better strung up. But you, my sweet child, my fire-bringing foolish boy, are never to blame."

He knew she wasn't going anywhere. His mother may be a touch overbearing and used to getting her own way but he knew she cared for all of them. She'd pushed them all, but had always been there if they fell as well.
He looked at her and sighed. "I still let the arrow affect me. I wasn't strong enough to fight it. I didn't even try." He shook his head, "I am to blame. You didn't see Epimetheus Mother. I crushed the life right out of him without even lifting a finger."

"I will slap you if you talk of not being strong enough," she chided him, standing again and shaking his chin a little in her hand, her fingers firm. Klymene didn't accept argument. "It's powerful magic that the little shit doesn't have the sense to wield, and this time he's going to be very sorry for that." She wasn't sure yet what to do to Eros but she'd think of some suitable punishment. It wouldn't be enough - nothing would for an Olympian - but it would have to satisfy.
"And Epimetheus will forgive you," Klymene said a little more kindly, her hand loosening as she stood again. "Shush, don't tell me he won't. He will forgive you because he knows your heart just as you know his. You can be furious with each other momentarily, but rifts will heal." She stroked his cheek. "Drinking yourself to death will do nothing but worry your mother."

He just gave his mother a look but didn't say anything. He'd rather not get hit again. He let her turn his chin before moving from her grasp. "I wasn't the only one he messed with. And I've had my fill with playing with the Olympians." It was hard to forget the chains.
"He's more furious at me. I know I deserve his anger and hate." He made a face, "I can't drink myself to death. I'll puke before I hit that stage. I really would like a drink too." He'd regret the little he drank come morning already. He set his hands on the back of his head and let out a long sigh.

"Why do you deserve his hate?" Klymene demanded of him. "Because the Olympians forced you to do something you would never have otherwise done?" She leaned towards him, her eyes blazing. "Do you hold me accountable for my services to Hera then?" she asked him. "Do you hold me accountable for my marriage vows broken because Olympians chose to break them for me? Do you hold me accountable for letting Zeus murder one of my sons and enslave another? Blame me for my own accountabilities or stop feeling sorry for yourself," Klymene snapped, "because I am as guilty as you."

He really didn't have much argument against that so he just dropped his gaze, "no mother." It seemed the safer thing to say, despite feeling he still deserved Epimetheus' anger and loathing. Epi was his other half, the completion to everything he was. Arguing with his brother had never lasted long, and never this vicious.

Klymene softened and kissed his brow tenderly. "Good," she said, as though everything was now settled. "When did you last eat? No, nevermind, of course you've not eaten." She pulled her phone out of her pocket. "Well," she said as the number of an Italian restaurant she liked rang. "tonight you're going to eat and I'm not leaving until I'm satisfied. And then I'm going to talk to your brother and- Yes, hello, this is Clea Anatolē. Ah, wonderful, wonderful." While Klymene ordered she rested Prometheus head against her hip - the height of him sitting just right to do so - and ran her fingers soothingly through his hair.
When the Titaness hung up she looked down at her boy. "How are you feeling?" she asked, bending to look closely at his face. "You're terribly pale." The worry was clear in both her voice and features as she said it. She might have to take him to hospital depending on how the alcohol affected him.

He let his mother do as she liked. Stopping her now would just end in another argument and he felt too tired and worn to get into it all again. And part of him liked having his mother fuss over him. So he just smiled and leaned into the touch, half remembering moments in a long ago past when she'd done this before. Maybe Epimetheus would listen to Klymene. He could hope.
"I'm alright," he smiled and sat up. "I'm always pale." the pain was worse with the alcohol in his system, and he'd probably throw up half the food in the morning, but he hadn't had enough to drink to have to call the hospital. "I didn't drink that much. I'd just started when you got here. Would you sit down mother?"

At his request Klymene looked around herself and then dragged a chair over in front of him. "What am I going to do with you boys?" she sighed, as though this was just another in their long line of teenage arguments. She well remembered having a house full of bustling boys, the Titan of rash action and violent tempers breaking everything in sight, the Titan of endurance carrying it all on ceaselessly, forethought not considering the consequences and afterthought not thinking before starting it. They'd driven her to madness sometimes, and their father hadn't been any help.
But then they'd all been ripped away from her one by one and she hadn't been able to protect them. She was their mother, she should have protected them from everything.
And now she couldn't even protect them from a stupid girl and a meddling love god. She felt tired with angry worry and she'd only been here a few minutes. It was too easy to get worked up over her boys.
"No more drinking," she said to him, but she was already sounding less commanding.

He knew that comment. He'd heard it before, all too often. He'd honestly missed hearing it, but it brought with the ache of thinking about his brothers. Neither of them had been close to him as Epimetheus was, but they were still his brothers. He hoped they were alright.
"Hit us over the head. Tends to work." With a smile he took her hand, "no more drinking. Won't be worth it come morning honestly." He wanted to comfort his mother a little and show he was alright. He was still feeling awful but she was helping. "How's father?" He hoped turning the conversation would help.

"Your father's well enough," Klymene told him with a nod, stroking Prometheus' hair and brow gently. "But I'm more worried about my boys at the moment. Promise me I'm not going to have to search through your house for liquor like you're en errant little boy? I'll be cross if you lie to me," she added with a serious look.

He laughed, "I have liquor here mother. I keep it for guests." He rose and winced for a moment. "Jade and Aidan like it, and sometimes I give a bit to my clients. I can promise I won't touch it though. It really isn't worth it all." Even if he deserved punishment.
"You can help distract me with creating a gallery if you like. I'm not good with ideas." He hoped the idea of a spotlight would help keep her busy.

Klymene watched him with suspicion for a moment but then nodded, satisfied that he was being truthful with her. If Prometheus was lying then he was in for a world of trouble.
At his last words she brightened, her smile wide as she reached into her bag and drew out a thick notebook. "A gallery show, finally!" Licking a finger, Klymene flicked through the pages of the book to look for a specific page. "I've such ideas for you," she told him without yet looking up, "and I've already made a few calls around the city to show people examples of your work."

"Of course you have." He knew his mother by now. He didn't want to talk about Epimetheus or Pandora, or anything else, and giving her this thing would give her something to do and keep him occupied for a few days. And he knew she meant well. She just liked seeing his name in lights.
"I need a theme. Nothing fire related. That joke got old quick." He sat back down and ignored the faint stab of pain in his side. That was fairly usual. "I want to include some of Aidan's and Jade's work." Because if he was getting himself roped into all this he'd get his lovers into this as well. He had to have someone to hide behind. "So we could mix it all up a little."
