WHO: Asteria & Phoebe WHEN: Thursday WHERE: Phoebe's apartment WHAT: Kitty!Titan In this city Asteria had more family than she'd had for thousands of years and it felt good. It felt right. She'd learned again what it was to be family.
Night turned slowly into the dim light of pre-dawn - birds singing even in the middle of this stone and steel mess - and Asteria made her way to the home of her mother, silently creeping inside. Everything in here was quiet and dark and Asteria found the couch and curled up there, tucking her chin in against her chest and pulling her legs up towards herself.
Before the sun was above the horizon, Asteria was asleep.

[info]crownedingold 2012-01-13 01:53 am UTC (link) Track This Phoebe woke up and stretched, the mid-morning sunlight poring into the room and washing over her face. She was planning on going in for her interview at the salon either today or tomorrow, but that was the extent of her plans for the foreseeable future.
She sat up a little straighter as she sensed the presence in her living room, but it didn't seem threatening. Still, she picked up a heavy vase from her dresser, just in case she was wrong.
She padded silently into the living room, setting the vase down on a table when she saw it was Asteria. She must have come in sometime during the night. She smiled to herself, then retrieved a blanket and tucked it over her daughter. Satisfied, she made her way into the kitchen to get herself some coffee. Asteria most likely wouldn't wake until the sun set.

[info]thefallingstar 2012-01-13 02:26 am UTC (link) Track This Asteria never slept deeply, even in the daylight hours; It was different being in a fleshy form to when she'd been an island. So to the sounds in the kitchen she eventually stirred, and half asleep the star-titan murmured, "mama?" Just for a moment she was a child in her bed in Greece, too young to know the world at all. But that moment passed and she remembered where she was and sat up, wrapping the blanket around her shoulders and yawning.

[info]crownedingold 2012-01-13 02:31 am UTC (link) Track This Phoebe poked her head out of the kitchen, where she'd been drinking her coffee and eating toast. "I'm here, my dear," she called back softly. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you. You can sleep some more, if you'd like. Or there's coffee if you'd rather have that."

[info]thefallingstar 2012-01-13 02:57 am UTC (link) Track This Asteria nodded and stood, her body still waking as she moved. The light outside was brighter than Asteria enjoyed but she could endure it. "Coffee," she agreed. "I don't need to sleep. I came to see you."

[info]crownedingold 2012-01-13 03:15 am UTC (link) Track This Phoebe rose and pulled a second mug from the cupboard, pouring a cup of coffee for Asteria and handing it to her. "Did you?" she asked, looking pleased. "You know you're always welcome, whenever you'd like. Having my family about makes this place feel more like home."

[info]thefallingstar 2012-01-13 03:55 am UTC (link) Track This "I understand," Asteria said to have with a little smile. Because she did. Home had been such a far away idea for so long but now she had it again. "Sometimes there are too many people in this city, but I don't wish to leave this family."

[info]crownedingold 2012-01-13 04:04 am UTC (link) Track This "Exactly," Phoebe agreed, settling herself back into her chair, curling one leg underneath herself. "I've wandered for too long without the ones I love. We're all here, and here is where I intend to stay. The only thing that would make everything better is if Coeus resurfaced."

[info]thefallingstar 2012-01-13 04:09 am UTC (link) Track This "Perhaps he's close," Asteria considered, her hands wrapped around the coffee cup as she watched the sky outside the window. That was her fathers domain out there. As she read the night, Coeus read the heavens.
She looked at her mother. "I remember him very little," she admitted.

[info]crownedingold 2012-01-13 04:24 am UTC (link) Track This "Perhaps," she repeated, staring into her coffee. "I'd certainly like to think that he is, at any rate."
At her daughter's next statement, she tilted her head, remembering. "He always loved you girls," she said at last. "I used to worry that he'd want a son, an heir, but if he was disappointed, he never said. I don't think he was, though. And then the Titanomachy happened, and he was cast into Tartarus, and I...I haven't seen him since." She tilted her head forward, letting her copper hair fall into her face for a moment. Then she sat up straight again. "But until that day, I hold out hope."

[info]thefallingstar 2012-01-17 03:01 pm UTC (link) Track This Asteria watched her mother intently. She knew that she had a tendency to stare now in ways that mad mortals uncomfortable but she believed that at this too she was becoming better.
"Others have left Tartarus," Asteria stated after considering Phoebe's words for some time. "Iapatos walks this very city. It stands to reason then that the others walk free as well, including father."
