Who: Theseus Stavros & Aidan McAllister
What: Phone call, a la 'Dude. :|' Dude...sorry?'
When: Sunday afternoon
Where: Their respective homes
Warnings: TBD
Sunday afternoons were prime times for Aidan. He usually got up around noon, fucked around for an hour or two, then buckled down to any remaining homework he'd put off. In other words, the Sunday afternoon of most college students. Nothing real strenuous, and that was just fine by him.
So when his phone rang, and the caller ID said Theseus, he was more than happy to put off his assignment for a bit and chat with his friend. So he pressed answer.
"Hey man, what's up?"

Theseus had thought about how to say this, but in the end just being done with it seemed like it would suit him better. So when he heard his friend he smiled, "hey man. And I don't know. Apparently there is a God, my boyfriends a few decades old and I'm actually related to a dude who took his friend and said 'let's kidnap Persephone, it should be fun'."
He sighed, even though he didn't sound distraught. He felt he was handling all this pretty fairly, "and oh yeah I saw the infamous ball of yarn. It's gold. Pretty sure yarn isn't supposed to be gold." He paused, "and now you're charged with smacking me if I ever take after my ancestor."

Aidan was suddenly hit with a lot of things to take in at once. So instead of trying to interject, he just listened. And when Theseus finally took a breath he said, "Welcome to my life," and let out a little laugh.
"So, now you're in the know," he replied. "It's weird, isn't it? And yeah, I'm pretty sure yarn isn't supposed to be gold. Although now you get to say, 'my boyfriend is the Minotaur, your argument is invalid'. And don't worry, I'll smack you if you start talking about kidnapping people for shits and giggles."

He smiled, mostly because he could count on Aidan. "Astin said you knew, told me you'd help make sense of it. And strangely it sort of does." He rubbed at his eyes and sighed, playing with his lighter in his free hand. "And I'm doing alright though."
He wasn't truly upset, he was jsut letting this all click in his head. "so Astin tells me your artist boyfriend is like him? Who is he? And if it's Zeus, I'm killing you."

Aidan shoved a hand through his hair. "Yeah, I only found out a few months ago myself. And yeah, it does, although some things still take a bit of getting used to. And good. If you ever freak out or anything, text me, or whatever. Been there, done that."
"Yeah, he is. And no, he's not Zeus you dork, I'm not that much of a masochist. His name's Prometheus. He's actually the Titan who made the first humans, and he's lovely." He grinned, then pulled a face, even though Theseus couldn't see him. "His mother is also in the city, the Titan of fame, Klymene, who is not nearly so lovely. Mostly she doesn't like me because I'm in my field because I want to help people, not for the glory." He shrugged. "Whatever."

Having nothing better to do, he decided to light up a smoke. "Probably will. Thanks man. And yeah I'm not sure if I should have a crisis of faith, or worry because I'm not having one."
"I know who Prometheus is ass face," there was a smile in his voice. "Hey man if you're doing a god, nothing better then one who likes people." then he chuckled. "She'd like me then. It's alright, what am I going to tell Astin's sister? Hi, don't kill me, I'm just related to the dude who left you?" He shook his head, even if Aidan couldn't see him. "Oh, is there a way to tell us normal folk from god people? Rather not get smited you know."

Hearing the click of the lighter on the other end made Aidan want a smoke of his own, which resulted in a cigarette scavenger hunt. While he was looking, he kept talking. "Anytime, man. And yeah, I know the feeling. I was never all that religious to start with, now I'm finding out gods actually exist? Talk about a mindfuck."
He finally located his smokes, under his bed of all places. Perhaps a sign he should clean the place? Maybe later. Instead, he lit one and took a drag, laughing. "Well pardon me, Mr. Theoi.com. I had no idea how up on Greek myths you were. And yeah, it's nice. I like him. He's a good guy."
"Well then, you have fun with that," he replied, rolling his eyes. "You are more than welcome to her, if I ever meet her again, I think I'll be doing good to manage 'civil'."
He couldn't help but snort. "Sorry. And hey, you're not him. I can understand her still being upset with him, but why take it out on his descendants? Then again, a lot of Greek gods don't look like they apply much logic in making decisions."
He tilted his head and blew smoke at the ceiling, thinking. "I'm not sure. I couldn't tell Klymene from anyone else in the cafe where we had lunch, not until she introduced herself. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they had a way of feeling out each other, though."

He propped himself up, having spend most of his time fucking around on either computer or game system. Something normal to just calm his mind. "I quit after dad, but yeah. It's just strange. At least now if I find a dude going 'have you found Jesus', I can legitimately wonder if he's missing or stopped caring."
He scoffed, "unlike you uncultured American, I did grow up in Greece you know. Did you forget that fact? Mom's very into the myths so she told me most of them. The rest I learned from all over the place. And I figure if you fuck him you kind of have to like him. Gets really awkward otherwise."
"Ouch, some in law problems. And I know that. There's some similarities apparently, except I have some common sense." He laughed, "dude which Greek Gods do you know? Most myths are the I kill you type myths. They invented grudges man."
He frowned, "yeah. It's like God-GPS. Would be logical to help people avoid others, I think I want to meet one of them. For curiosity you know? Just so I can go 'huh', and move on."

"If someone ever asks me that, my answer is going to be, 'Yup! He was hiding behind my couch!'," he replied with a snicker. "But as to whether he's missing or indifferent, I don't know. Although now you bring that up, I wonder if any of the Christian saints are running around. Since they're basically the Christian equivalent of gods."
"Fuck you, I am not uncultured. But sometimes I do forget that," he admitted. "I mean, I know it in the back of my mind, but sometimes it gets lost in the shuffle." He laughed then. "You don't necessarily have to like someone to fuck them. However, in this case, I do, so everybody's happy."
He waved a hand dismissively even though the gesture couldn't be seen. "She didn't seem too keen on me either, so as long as we play the avoidance game, it'll be fine. And yes, you do occasionally display some common sense." He laughed.
"Besides Astin, Prometheus, and his mom? I actually met his daughter, what was her name...Aletheia, I think. She's not actually his blood, he made her out of clay, but family's what you make it, so who am I to judge? Although I hear you on the grudges, I've been doing my research. I've met a succubus too, but that's a whole different pantheon there."
"Now if that was a product on the market, I'd actually buy it," he said, in all seriousness. "Help us figure out which ones to avoid. And yeah, I think it'd be cool to meet one of the ones less likely to turn me into something."

He made a face then, aware his friend couldn't see it. "No. Not me. Because now I'm cool with them being around, but if I meet them, I'll know the other side of the Christian coin is also around. And I never, ever, want to know. Now I can pretend it's there, but not in my area."
He scoffed, "are too. And I know man. I've been here a while. I'll take you some day. I'd say I'd show you where my dad got buried but he got scattered. We could go to Olympus though and kick it." He sighed, "sorry man. But hey all you gotta worry about is your guy so fuck her. Not literally though because then I'll call you Oedipus for, like, forever."
"Har har, family is what you make of it. Unintentional pun points there. And Jesus I hope she didn't like jump on you or something?" He nodded, "Same here though. And ask your Prometheus. I figure seeing he likes us normal people he'll point us to someone nice."

"Fair point," he agreed. "It's one thing to think about them in terms of concepts, but to come face to face with a demon or something in real life? That's freak me right out."
"Shut it, you," he retorted, but there was no venom in it, just the two of them bickering like they always did. "And I would love to go kick Olympus, just because. Lord knows it sounds like most of them needed a kick in the ass ever now and again."
"Ewewewewewwwwwwwwwwww," he replied. "Thank you ever so much for that, you fucker. And yes, he's pretty much the only godly being I've got to worry about, so it's fine."
He laughed. "Occasionally I fire off a good one. And no, she didn't, we had a nice conversation about art history. She seemed nice enough." He made a noise of agreement. "I'll ask him when I see him next. Hey, I wonder if any of the Muses are around. It'd be cool to meet one of them."

"Occasionally I also make sense." He smiled into the phone. "I'm willing to let that sleeping dragon lie." He chuckled then. "Yeah and then you were a plant or an animal of some sort. Safer to do it now. Let's hope we don't end up as a footnote somewhere."
He laughed to the reaction, "you're so welcome." Then he made a face, "dude. Just be careful. I have some knowledge on what they're supposed to do. Chatting about art isn't it." He paused, "that would be cool. Wish there was a Muse of film or something, but it'd still be cool."

"Oh really now?" he asked with a laugh. "I shall start writing these instances down for posterity. And yeah, no kidding. I've met enough mean-spirited people in my life, I don't need to meet any that reek of brimstone and sulfur."
"Exactly," he said. "And hey, it's not like we're spray-painting 'OLYMPIANS SUCK' on it with black spray paint. Although if we did that, I think we'd have the Greek government after us too. And possibly the UN."
"So didn't need that image in my head, you ass," he muttered, still sounding amused. "Yeah, probably not, but she's the spirit of truth, not...I don't know, the spirit of murder, or something. I mean, she probably didn't mean me any harm, but I get what you're saying. I'm not gonna go looking for trouble."
"I know, right?" he said. "And there are nine of them, I bet somewhere in there you could find one that could inspire you, since that's what they do."

He wished Aidan was here, so he could punch him for that. Not that he'd mean it. "I wonder if they really do, or if that's just some weird thing they tell us? Either way. Not going to find out."
He chuckled, "let's not get arrested or turned into something weird. That'd be awkward." He smirked, "and yes you did. And I wonder if that's real too. A spirit of murder? It's all kinda strange."
"I can ask nicely. Worst is no, right? Anyway I'm going to go. Thanks for the chat man. I appreciate it."

"I can sense you glaring at me from here, man," he said."And like I've said before, between the two of us, you're the one with more sense. And yeah, maybe they do, maybe they don't, but I'm with you on the not wanting to find out."
"That is definitely high on my to-do list," he agreed. "And I really, really didn't, but thanks for that anyway, now I can pull out my brain bleach." He pondered this for a second. "It wouldn't surprise me. There's a spirit of hope in the city, apparently her siblings are all the things that go bump in the night, there's probably room for a murder spirit in there somewhere."
"Yeah, that could work. And even if they say no, at least you tried. And hey, any time. We should hang soon, OK? Before the holidays."

He laughed, "Considering I'm younger then you, you may want to fix that. Don't want to read about you in the paper is all."
He smirked, "what's a day without getting mentally scarred?" He frowned, "weird. Don't know if it's good or bad if hope's out of the box. And I'm really not keen on finding out."
"Yes, dear. I'm free weekends man. Just shout and I'll drop by."
