the story;
It's the year 2005, and the Wizarding World had been free from darkness for nearly seven years. The memory of Voldemort had become just that, a memory. Many of the Death Eaters that survived the battle of Hogwarts had fled Britain; running to the far corners of the world to hide in the shadows of their loss. Changes had happened, many of them in the Ministry of Magic itself, creating a new world free from the threat of Voldemort and the remnants of the Death Eaters. Those who survived were now finally free to live the lives that had been only dreams before.

But whispered rumors have begun to creep back into Britain, whispers of Voldemort's last great secret; a secret that only a few ever knew of, and fewer would have ever believed. A force has been growing in power in Bulgaria where Durmstrang has continued its strong teachings in the dark arts, and this power has begun drawing former Death Eaters home. A group of known Death Eaters escaped from Azkaban were they had been contained for years. And then the murders began.

A Muggle family of ten was murdered in Banstead, Surrey. A Muggleborn Ministry witch was killed, and then just a short hour later, a Ministry wizard and his Muggle wife were murdered in their home. On the night of April 20th, 2005, a Muggle Orphanage was attacked by werewolves, resulting in the death of ten children and two adult women. And finally, on April 28th, three Muggleborn shop owners were lured to a quiet Alley in Diagon Alley and murdered. Over each of these attacks, a changing Dark Mark was left in the sky overhead. Until finally, the Mark acheived its final form, and the attacks ceased... until now.

New Dark Rising was once played at

newdarkrising by a cast of amazing players and characters. Unfortunately, due to the busy schedules of all the players, the game was forced to close this past July. But recently, thanks to interest from former players, the game has been resurrected. It is now located at

darkrising, and with a new modified game history, we are welcoming all new players!

darkrising is a post Deathly Hallows, canon compliant (up until before the epilogue), Harry Potter RPG. Our game aims to have a good mix of world plot and personal character plot, with story lines developed by both characters and mods alike.

We are searching for creative, active, original and good quality players who are ready to join and help us continue the story of this amazing world. No experience is required.
