So instructing an intro geology class, what is the appropriate first impression? Telling them the first to make a Rocks for Jocks joke gets bumped a letter grade or go in with shades and music and say, "Let's Rock!"

So... apparently the super sudden reversal of the earth's magnetic poles would make the entire magnetic field temporarily disappear leaving us all susceptible horrific solar radiation all because the Earth's core stopped rotating. But don't worry nuclear weapons to the rescue.

I think for that internship and work experience I have to have, I'm just going to go to Hollywood and save the world from crappy science.

Books prices are insane. I forgot. But everything is set. I'm only starting off with a couple of classes and I"m going to be assisting my advisor with his work on seismology and plate tectonics. No, I will not do much of anything with magnetic fields... too easy.
