There's many a character in NYX that doesn't require a journal to use, and are simply there to fill up the background. However, if you do use that character, please contact their creator or the mods, and ask permission if you plan to kill them, have them be a key part in the plot, or if you're just confused as to how they should be played. NPCs are also allowed to be picked up for playing use, but MUST be applied for like normal characters.
William "Buffalo Bill" Connor II -- Landlord and Owner of Blue Lake Apartments: inherited both Blue Lake Apartments and his name from his father. Bill is not a big lover of mutants but at the same time, he holds no grudge against them. He really just looks at them the same as he looks at most people--and he normally likes that to be from a distance. However, since he is the landlord to the apartments, he had to at least come and pay rent, or get some people rooms if the timing is right.
Andrea & Andreas von Strucker: The Von Struckers own Fenris International, the closest thing to economic power that mutants have. While they play at being a philanthropist business, over many years they have used corporate espionage and assassins to take over businesses slowly but surely in NYC and elsewhere. It's unknown if the two are lovers or siblings. They hope to bring an end to humanity's financial dominance over mutants. Their mutant power is to join hands and their bodies discharge enough energy to knock Manhattan's power grid off line for days... something done and proved. Canon comic characters.
Din: Six-armed chef of the sushi cafe, The Wharf. Very talented, if a little neurotic; she always carries a handkerchief for each hand along with a bottle of soap. She's 6' even, very pale, and only wears a long dress that she claims is good luck, along with a necklace of various charms i.e. horse-shoe, four-leaf clover, the works. Stammers when she talks.
Evelyn "Ev" Chambers: Owner Mad World Clothing Company - in "the Village" Evelyn is a 35 year old human-- a real character and a free spirit. She is willing to try anything and wants her customers to have fun while they are in her store.
Express: A speedster mutant who owns The Rosetta Stone. He lives alone with his killer toy poodle, Snapper.
Fonzo: NYX's own modern Al Capone. We wish we were joking. He inherited a fortune after his father mysteriously disappeared. Publicly, he'd a philanthropist and owner of the popular if hard-to-get-into hotel, The Gemini, along with several other hotels and stores in Old City. Privately, he funds the Freak Show, giving them free food and shelter at his various hotels and homes, and manipulates many a business for "protection". Not a man to be crossed.
Jimmy Tomlinson: Owner of "DiscWorld" a used "record store" that is well regarded with college kids/skaters, etc. He is very easy going. Human.
Pontius: The wisest old man you'll ever meet. Homeless, mostly toothless, and refusing to eat anything without fish on it, Pontius wanders the streets of NYX like a ghost. He seems to have an uncanny ability to locate mutants new to the area and direct them to either the Winfrey Cruise's Home for Orphaned Misfits, or to Lobo and the Wolf's Den. Of course, the catch is that his audience must be patient enough to pick the information out from endless chatter concerning government conspiracies and alien abductions.
Mrs. Wu: Owner and checker of Mrs. Wu's Chinese Herbs & Such store. Short and pudgy. Hair pulled up into a bob. Widowed. A mutant with powers of healing and empathy. Only wears classic Chinese dresses. Moved to NYX to open business with her daughter, Wu Li. Speaks little English, but her powers in healing is renowned. It's rumored she can bring someone back from the dead, but she has yet to prove it.
RayRay: Human who manages the mutant bands around NYX. In his mid-40s', Asian, about 5' 3", bald, wears huge glasses. No accent. Will talk... at great length.
Adrien Bellamont: 40 year old gay human, he's the owner of the Love is Blind Cafe. Adrien and his long time lover (a mutant) bought the space and 2 offices above it nearly 20 years ago, and reinvented the place as the Love is Blind Cafe, a sort of French quarter style coffee house cafe that would have live (mostly acoustic) music, poetry readings, etc. Though Adrien's boyfriend was killed in the Cerebro attacks, he nonetheless keeps the place going with sweets and damn good tea.
Cutter: Owner of Rough & Rowdy strip club. A real ass. 6' 7", very muscled, a possible member of Friends of Humanity. Shaved head. Extremely heavy Southern accent.
Damien Edwards: Has been the manager at the Rock Pit for ages, and was the force behind getting the club it's rep as a Rockin place to see local and national acts.. Many acts that later hit the big time started out playing the Pit thanks to Damien. He is 50, and aware of his age, but he is hip, and absolutely beloved by the musicians he has helped in his career. He is a little less accessible now that he is the owner, and he is a bit more uptight since it is his place now, but still a good guy.
Roxy Foxy: An aspiring songwriter and saxophone player, Roxy works at Rough & Rowdy half of the time and Love Is Blinde the other half. She stands at 4' 11", bright red hair set in cornrows, and dark olive skin. She has powers of super speed up to 90 MPH. Australian with a decent accent. Flirty.
Skylar Smith: Tall, toned, and tanned, blonde 27 year old Skylar is the bartender at The Wolf's Den when Kevin is off. Kevin's look appeals to the emo/goth crowd, and Skylar's look appeals to just about everyone else. This handsome lad is a human, but very mutant friendly. Generally, he's content to be the strong silent type-- which works for him, as the constantly overflowing tip jar will attest. Skylar is no slouch when it comes to drink making, and has taught Kevin basically everything he knows about the business of bartending. (Skylar is of no relation to Tabby, though she's plotting to change that.)
Callisto (created by Marvel): The leader of the underground Morlocks. She wears black leather and a white T-shirt underneath, not to mention the eyepatch on her right eye. How it was lost is unknown. Her mutation is several tentacle-like arms, bright green, she can used to attack multiple enemies.
Red: Former co-owner of The Wolf's Den (now owned by Lobo) until he ran off over 3 years ago, Red runs the usually peaceful but potentially dangerous gang, Freak Show. He's only about 5' 5" but has a commanding presence, flaming red hair, a plaid kilt (Not Irish; no one knows why he wears it), and powers of telepathy/telekinesis. Very hot-tempered and known for holding a grudge. A former lover of Lobo, he left without notice with another mutant. Though he regrets it, he obviously isn't telling.
Dr. Nick: Despite being founder of the Parker Clinic, a hospital somewhat (in)famous for catering to the needs of mutants, the good doctor actually a human. After losing his wife, Parker, to anti-mutant violence, Nick founded the hospital in her memory. He's since dedicated himself to helping as many people with the x-gene as possible.
Dr. Anne Nakamura: A former gang-member, Anne Nakamura is a brilliant psychologist. Being renowned in her field has granted the alpha level empath numerous amazing job opportunities, but she learned long ago that fellow mutants are the ones most in need of her help. Thus, she chooses to remain in NYX, close to her roots and adopted family.
Should you wish to add your own NPC to the list, please post a name and description here.
