Hiding Out (Open) [08 Nov 2008|12:50am]

Henchman 24 had needed to get away. He didn't care if he got into trouble by leaving his station or not. The entire thing with Dr. Killinger had stressed him out. It had felt like an inquisition and had brought up some feelings, he wasn't sure how or if he wanted to deal with.

He looked quickly up and down the hallway before slipping into his room. The room was typical Guild henchman order. It contained a bed, dresser, and a closet, and nothing else. 24 hadn't even taken the time to decorate it with posters or anything personal.

A quick glance told him that he was alone. 24 quickly made his way to his closet and his secret stash of magazines. He dug past all the girlie magazines to his truly secret treasures. A small smile appeared as his hands closed around the object of his search.

He adjusted the Playboy magazine, making sure it hid the other one completely. He had a reputation to uphold, after all. He got comfortable on the bed as he began to thumb through the well worn pages. A small sigh escaped his lips as he got lost in his Woodworker's Weekly magazine.

Hiding Out [21 Oct 2008|08:11pm]

(Open to anybody)

He hadn’t looked back to see if he was being followed or not. That could have made him trip again, and he wasn’t going to make that mistake twice. So Billy just kept running until he could no longer hear noise behind him. Only then did he risk a glance over his shoulder to see that the hall behind him was empty.

Well that was a relief. And a bit of a surprise. He was a genius, not a sprinter. But he was not about to waste the boon of solitude. Without really taking note of where he was, Billy darted into the nearest room, immediately turning to lock the door behind him.

Except there was no lock. What sort of room didn’t have a lock? It was only then that he took a good look around the space he found himself in. What was all this stuff? There was a deep layer of dust covering nearly every available surface, surfaces which consisted primarily of boxes, but there were a few odd shapes beneath tarps. Was this a storage room?

If so, it was one that hadn’t been used in a very long time. Curiosity overriding his fear, Billy began poking around to see exactly what was in here.

Who Goes There? [12 Oct 2008|08:02pm]

Open to Triana, H.E.L.P.eR., others as they come.

Triana ignored the loud noises coming from several parts of the Venture Compound. By now, she was used to random mechanical chaos and unannounced visits from costumed weirdos. Pretending that nothing terrible was happening always seemed to work for Dean, so she took a page from his book and began her quest to lift some saleable gizmos from the lab that no one would miss. Hopefully the robot could tell her whether the crap she found was critical or not.

Reaching the door to Dr. Venture's lab, she was surprised to find it blown off its frame. As she pondered this, a soldier suddenly appeared from within the room, his sidearm pointed squarely at her forehead. She let out a short scream of surprise.

When Tanks Fly [02 Oct 2008|03:51pm]

deborak
Open to anyone at the Venture Compound

Sgt. Hatred couldn't hear the full roar of his hovertank from inside the heavily armored control center. He had to use his imagination to fill in the sensory blanks. As his machine bore down on the Venture Industries compound, he smiled at the scene displayed on his forward targeting cameras. The locals were rushing out of their homes, pointing key-fobs at their puny automobiles whose alarms had been triggered by the Hatred Hovertank's mighty thunder. He grinned wider and chomped down on his cigar as he noticed one anguished civvie circling his toylike Smart Car, which had flipped belly up in utter capitulation.

"Clock!" he called over his shoulder.

"Over Venture airspace in 15," a corporal informed him.

Hatred stubbed out his cigar and sat back in his command chair, gripping its arms expectantly. Perhaps this time Venture would be prepared, have some defensive measures in place to meet him. He'd specifically suggested that at their last after-arching debriefing, so he was hopeful.

Neither An Art Nor A Science [14 Sep 2008|06:02pm]

deborak
[ mood | curious ]

Open to Billy Quizboy, Brock Samson, Dr. Killinger, Dr. Orpheus, H.E.L.P.eR.

Her purple-polished fingernail restlessly tapped shuffle on the iPod. A song came up that immediately caused her to yank the earbuds from her head. No way were the Plain White T’s hardcore enough to distract Triana Orpheus from wondering what her father, Brock Samson, Billy Quizboy, and that uber creepy guy with the bedroom slippers and the skull fetish were heatedly discussing in the communal kitchen of the Venture Compound.

Triana had seen the four of them on one of Dr. Venture’s security monitors when she’d gone out earlier to throw a stack of her father’s musty old occult catalogs into the recycling bin. She had considered staying far, far away, but she really wanted to get those new songs she’d set H.E.L.P.eR. to downloading from iTunes and the robot wouldn't be far from all the rest of them. Inwardly cringing in anticipation of whatever embarrassing term of affection her father would undoubtedly greet her with, she left the Orpheus apartment and headed for the kitchen.

Walking in, she stepped toward H.E.L.P.eR. hoping the others would ignore her.

A Good Day To Fly [14 Sep 2008|05:41pm]

[ mood | determined ]

Open to The Monarch, Henchman 24, Dr. Killinger

Sgt. Hatred awoke at 05:00 and rolled out of bed. He tried not to dwell on the fact that his wife, in a fit of Indian princess pique, had chosen to spend the night in a teepee in their back yard. That gave Hatred two things to worry about: that she’d take things a step further and actually leave him, and that the Malice homeowner’s association might think the native shelter was some kind of child-enticing erection. Hatred scowled and cinched his belt high and tight. His schedule didn’t have room for that line of thought today.

“Tilde! Schwa!” His two most trusted soldiers mustered out of the hovertank as Hatred strode across his beautifully manicured lawn. He deftly avoided treading on a colorful turtle whirligig, his grace surprising in light of his bulk. Hatred drew himself up to his full impressive height and reminded his men of the orders of the day. “Initiate Operation Pantry Raid on the Venture Compound,” he barked.

“Yes, Sir!” Tilde saluted. “The locate and recover team is ready.”

“Diversionary squad is go,” Schwa added.

Sgt. Hatred looked with pride at his top-notch army. He had real soldiers, not out-of-work clowns in Halloween costumes like many of his villainous associates. The power train of the hovertank glowed to match his pride as the machine ramped up for flight. If Rusty Venture had any technology related to M.O.T.H.M.A.N., his men and his superior firepower were sure to find it.

In his peripheral vision, he caught sight of the teepee flap flying open. Princess Tiny Feet shouted something which he couldn’t hear over the roar of Bravo squadron test-firing a few rounds. She was probably just telling him to have a nice day at work, he told himself. She sure looked cute with her fingers in her ears.
