[25 May 2012|02:55pm] perdiem A FIRST WAR ERA HARRY POTTER ROLE PLAYING GAME The warm summer of 1977 was highly anticipated. For most, it was a bright window of joy during the brutal war that seemed to be turning the world darker every day. With seaside towns all across Wizarding Britain and Ireland shutting down due to murder, disappearances and paranoia, one resort has remained open. Here, old magic and new, pure and muggle-born will have to mix for the summer. However, hidden in the society parties and magical events are Lord Voldemorts Death Eaters who have made the decision to expand their ranks by testing the waters in the little seaside town and thanks to a tip off, Dumbledore has sent the Order of the Phoenix to watch and intercept them. When people start disappearing and the bodies start dropping, the Ministry is called in and the entire town is suspect. The press are having a field day. At least no one can say the summer is going to be boring. Per Diem is a summer game based around the recruitment of Death Eaters and Order members, with the civilians and the Ministry caught in the crossfire. It will be opening the first week of June. [07 May 2012|04:32am] commandpost The defeat of the infamous dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald in 1945 never happened. Instead Dumbledore sat idly by as Grindelwald's control continued to spread through Europe. By 1978, only a few countries remained free of Grindelwald's regime of anti-muggle sentiment. Although it may seem overwhelming, there are fewer changes to canon at crossfire than may originally be thought because of England's isolation from Grindelwald's influence. While the Order and Knights of Walpurgis (the Death Eaters of this universe) have not currently been established in-game, all characters' histories should have been relatively the same while in school and growing up. Don't take that to mean things will be boring though! Instead of being confined to England, there's potential for plots to take place in other countries as European groups and leaders work together advancing their aims. This means there's tons room for world building abroad and chances to explore your characters in these environments. Breaking and entering in unknown territories? Getting wrapped up into blackmail schemes in exchange for information? Hijacking? Piecing together information? Organizing coups? Only the beginning. We'd love more "Death Eaters" (the Knights of Walpurgis in this universe!). This is not a game where all the members of the Knights of Walpurgis will agree with Grindelwald's ideas simply because they're crazy/evil and interested in torture. There will be a number of legitimate reasons for them to support his ideas and they will be firmly established in the game. Rather than arbitrarily killing muggles and solely focusing on taking down the Order, they will care about things like politics and the safety of the wizarding world and their family. post comment

Our goal is to explore the ideas of freedom and safety, peace and conflict, the opposing forces of light and dark, and the idea of what measures are called for in times of war. In the end, the work of the characters involved and the ends to which they are willing to go, are the only things that will decide Britain's fate.
