I've typed this message out several times and deleted it every time. Thought I might as well just go with it before I permanently ruin my delete key.

I just wanted to apologise for all that happened. I realise that I should have been forward about what had happened, and I am sincerely sorry for whatever complications I caused between yourself and Preston. It is my hope that you and he have spoken and reconciled.

Perhaps I'll stop by Reliquary some time for a cup. Non-alcoholic, of course. I just do not wish to cause you any further trouble, my friend, so I may keep my space.

Yours,
Lucas

Lucas,

I'll admit, without reservation, that I've yet not gotten over my anger.

As strange as it is, I'm not as upset by Preston's actions as I am by your dishonesty. However, I've no one else here that's known me since I was too small reach a pedal on a car, or to see overtop the counter of a bar to order a pint. And I've no one who knows my life and dreams as you do.

Fences are not easily mended, but I'm willing to try, for the very selfish reason of wanting my best mate back.

Preston and I are working through our difficulties. He likes you, finds you easier to be open with than I am. Do not limit the association on my account.

I've an inclination to photograph the fog. I'd not mind company.

Elijah

Elijah,

I had every intention of telling you, you realise. Though I'm sure that's hard to believe considering how things went, so I'll not press the issue. You are fully entitled to your anger, and I would not presume to say any different.

I am certainly not unwilling, either. My life would be a sorrier place without you taking some part in it. As for Preston, I feel it may be better for me to keep my space from him. I certainly would not ignore him, but approaching him at this point would be... strange. I've done enough damage, have I not?

Do you think it so wise to ask of my company? I'm not trying to be difficult, just logical.

Lucas

I do not begrudge Preston those he cares about. He has few friends, I think. I've family here, and quite a few people I've adopted along the way. He's more alone than I, and in greater needs of someone who will give him good advice, when the need arises.

If I thought it unwise, I would not have asked.

Perhaps. That did not seem to be how he felt before that evening, at least. If things have changed, then that is quite another story. I certainly would not ignore him should he need help, and I do promise to be on my best behaviour.

You aren't simply luring me out to pummel me in an effort to work out some of your anger, are you?

Perhaps. A camera can be quite an impressive weapon, even when wielded by someone as old as myself.
