Muse/Fandom: Elena Gilbert/Vampire Diaries Prompt: 4. Where are you from? Word Count: 333 Open to roleplay: Yes, in my journal please.
It might sound silly to people who don't live here but Mystic Falls, Virginia is kind of a big deal to us. Maybe it's because I grew up in one of the founding families but when I was a kid I loved all of the things that had to do with Mystic Falls. Founders Day meant plenty of parties, excuses for Caroline and I to dress up and dream about the day we would be old enough to compete for Miss Mystic Falls. Of course, by the time we were old enough to compete my mother was dead and any excitement I'd felt in the past had been washed away. I was actually really happy for Caroline when she won. She deserved it and she definitely wanted it more than me.
The thing about Mystic Falls is that what you see is not what you get. I lived here for sixteen years before I realized that Mystic Falls is basically a hot spot for vampires. I don't know if it started back during the Civil War when Katherine and her vampire family showed up in town or if its something even older than that. I mean, the Lockwoods are a founding family too and werewolfism (is that even a word?) runs in their family. So maybe Mystic Falls has always attracted the supernatural.
As it turned out, and I found this out later, the founding families didn't actually found anything. Supposedly and according to Elijah, a group of persecuted witches from Salem traveled south and settled Mystic Falls before any of the founding families got here. I don't know how true that is but given the circumstances I could believe that. In the last few weeks I've found out more about the founding families than I ever wanted to know up to and including a whole arsenal of vampire fighting supplies in my parents old lake house.
So that's where I'm from, Mystic Falls- filled with vampires and the people who hate them.
