He's right, and somehow that makes it a little worse. He's right and he's being so damn reasonable about it all while she's here with a lump in her throat, unable to look at the blood seeping through her fingers as she keeps her hand at the wound.
Stupid, really, they both know what's coming. it's all stupid - Anna's seen people die in much more horrific ways than this. She's helped in systematically removing the threat of the infected people entering the camp, left men behind. It's a grim world they live in and you have to be grim to survive in it, but this? This is different. This is Cas.
"I should have been here." It would have meant certain death for her, there's no question about that, but what's left now anyway? It's a desolate thought, one she would have chided Cas for voicing, but it's true. She frowns as she lifts a hand and lightly rubs her thumb against the line of blood escaping his mouth. A futile effort, but a gesture he makes nonetheless. "Sorry for what? There isn't...you don't have anything to apologise for."
Except maybe playing the Big Damn Hero and getting himself killed without Anna. Definitely that one.
