I just spent my whole day so far watching a handful of rom coms because I still don't have a job and why not? ...and then I found this and suddenly I feel kind of crappy about the way I spent my day. Boo.

[ The video switches on and Cleo is clear across the room, back turned to her laptop. There is a clear view of her living and kitchen table. The table is loaded with text books and papers, a messy setting in an otherwise spotless apartment. She's dressed in short cotton shorts, a UC Davis T-Shirt, her hair pulled up in a messy bun with her glasses on her face. In her hand is a coffee mug.

Dreams can be heard playing. Cleo is dancing around her living room, clearly unaware of the camera. Her free hand is held out in front of her, wrist twisting back and forth, fingers bent. There is a small herb garden set up beside her patio door, beside the plants is a cup half full of water. The glass shakes slightly, and then the water begins to rise. The volume of water increases as it does, more water coming out of the glass than what had been in there to start. The stream of water rises up and out of the glass, it twists through the air and breaks apart into several smaller streams of water. Each stream them gently descends down onto one of her plants, watering them all in one fluid motion. Cleo turns her back on the cloud and keeps dancing around her living room, eventually spinning into her kitchen and out of sight.

So for those of you that don't know, I've been working at an orphanage in the city since I got here, and we're not doing great, financially. I don't know a lot of people around here and the ones I do know don't usually like me but we're in serious need of help. Some of these kids are a little rough, some of them are shy, but they're all great and they all deserve to be able to be somewhere. We're like the middle ground between them being left and them getting to a foster home or an adoptive family, and some kids end up spending a lot of time here.

We're insanely understaffed, a lot of the employees haven't really been getting paid but we stick around because it's the right thing to do, but the place can't close down. We're getting little to no funding, and every place that closes down around us ends up dropping their kids off here; we don't have the room or the facilities to make it all work. The program that we run doesn't just take care of kids in foster care and in the orphanage, we go out of our way to make sure that no one 'ages out' of protection. We go out of our way to make sure that they all get into a high school and graduate which is a little ironic because I never did but that's beside the point and if we don't get funding soon, we're going to have to stop doing that.

Five bucks. A dollar. Anything. I'll clean your car for you.

Took Lucas grocery shopping this afternoon and I was looking through the spices when I heard an "excuse me?" I turned around and I swear to God, this kid's face just lit up...because she thought I was Steve Moxley. I didn't have the heart to tell her I wasn't so I might have forged an autograph for her. ...and then temporarily disowned my son when she asked if he was mine because I...feel like he probably doesn't have a kid and I didn't particularly want to be in the tabloids after managing to go over two years without being on a cover of some shitty magazine. I said he was my friend's son and I was babysitting. ...and then I pretended I didn't see that his eyes were glowing when she said there was something wrong with his eyes...

I'm not proud of it.

I've officially gone soft and have secured myself a ticket straight to special hell, maybe. Good day. Caroline, you're on grocery duty from now on.

Welp, my "morning" started with swatting at what I thought was a fly and this happened. Because fuck bees. So, that sucked. But...the good news is, I'm going to see Inside Out today with my favorite tiny, so that's awesome. #balance.

I don't understand why you think shopping with this kid is so hard, babe, seriously. You just have to pay attention to little things and use them against him in your favor.
