"No."
Alarms blaring, John stared in absolute shock at Rodney McKay. Blinking, he frowned. "Excuse me?"
"I said 'no', which translates to 'fix it yourself'." Crossing his arms, Rodney felt his lips twitch. The twitching vein in John's throat made the smirk bloom fully while several warning lights blanked out across the control room.
"Now is not the time for you to be stubborn, McKay. Fix the damned machine so I can save the city, and subsequently, your ass!" John expected that to work, but he was sadly mistaken.
"Since you believe I am incompetent in leadership, my judgement and skills are now called in question. That means I can no longer do my job. Since you seem to think you can do better, have at it, Lieutenant Colonel. I'm through." Uncrossing his arms, Rodney let the computer tablet in them drop to the floor. As he dusted off his hands, the room shook as several consoles exploded. "I suggest you hurry, this looks like it could get messy."
Reaching for his gun, Sheppard pulled it from the holster. "Rodney, fix the damned machine!"
"I'd rather suck a lemon, which is rather apt for the situation, considering we are about to die." As John took aim at him, Rodney started to laugh.
"I'm not telling you again." John cocked the sidearm, aim wavering as the power went out and emergency lights kicked on.
"That's just it, Colonel, that's exactly the problem. You never ask, you never request, you don't even really tell. The great Colonel Sheppard barks an order and expects us idiot scientists to jump in to action. Well, not today. Today's my day off and I intend to fully enjoy the last two minutes of my existence. Toodles!" Waving his fingers, Rodney turned on his heel and wandered out of the control room.
Eyes bugged out, John remained frozen in place.
A moment later the room exploded and Atlantis sank for the final time.
