"Oh my." Blinking wide eyes, Rose stared out over the landscape. Lines of flowing green and black stretched endlessly. "Well, that certainly is something, isn't it!"
Neo came up behind her, his coat billowing in the programmed breeze. "This is the world as the machines have made it." He pointed out beyond the nearest tower of coding. "We created them, they keep recreating us."
"That's nice, that we can all be so...creative." Still distracted by the sight of the strange world, Rose barely heard his words. Yet, they did make sense to her eventually. "I take it we're all dependent upon each other?"
Neo's lips twitched in amusement. "Yes, it's a cruel twist."
"Oh." There wasn't much else she could say to it. The entire situation was just so overwhelming to her.
Below them, large bundles of code went about their business. Unknowing of what was going on above and around them, they did not see.
Today, though, there was one less among them. Rose saw the world as it was and she didn't like it one bit. "I'm starting to think that nice bald man wasn't so nice after all."
"With Morpheus it is not a matter of nice. He speaks the truth few want to hear." At her raised eyebrow, Neo dipped his head slightly to the side. "He can be hard to accept at first. You just have to get to know him."
Rose snorted. "I'll bet." Looking up at the coding formed clouds, she sighed. "May be he's not getting enough fiber in his diet. That always makes my friend Dorothy crabby too."
"To be honest, you did smack him with your purse upon your first meeting." He shifted uncomfortably.
"Well, what did he expect? The first thing he offered me were drugs!" Turning to face him completely, she sighed and bobbed her head to her words. "Okay, so I might have over reacted a bit. It's just, in that outfit and those sunglasses, he was like the villain in every after school special I ever watched." Rose looked up at his raised eyebrow. "With my kids and grand kids, of course."
"Of course." The look on Neo's face stated he clearly didn't believe her.
