Standing in front of her bedroom mirror, Sophia twisted from side to side admiring her new coat. The animal had had a nice winter coat making it extra healthy looking. So sleek, so stylish, it had been years since she had such a nice coat. It made her look twenty years younger in her opinion.
At first, she hadn't wanted one, but the situation had made it impossible to say no. After all, it was a fur coat, one didn't say no. Unless of course you were stupid and an animal lover. On those grounds, she would think people should be put out of her misery.
Wrapping the tale under her chin, she struck a regale pose, trying to look like a brunette she'd once seen in a movie. All she could remember about that movie was the woman having done the same move. It was a good move, it spoke of class and elegance, two things every woman should know about.
Yes, her new coat was the perfect thing for her coming trip to New York to visit her daughter-in-law, Big Sally. It would be sure to impress her, not like she saw anything this fancy outside a department store. If she visited them, why Sophia wouldn't know, the woman was too cheap to for Macy's.
Her revelry was interrupted by the door bell ringing. She was home alone, which meant she had to answer it. Ordinarily, she would have let it ring, but Blanche was expecting a new large screen TV to be delivered today. Taking off her hat and putting it on the dummy, she slipped quickly out of her coat and wrapped it around the dummy.
The door bell rang again. With a growl and a look to the ceiling, Sophia ran for the door. "I'm coming!" The door bell rang again, this time the person on the other side wouldn't let up, hitting it repeatedly. "I said I'm coming. You press that door bell once more I'll shove the door up your ass!" Just as she reached it the bell let up.
Throwing the door open, she glared at her neighbor Barbara Winston. "What the hell do you want? Unless you are here to unload a big screen TV, get the hell off my lawn!"
"Hey! I came here to ask if you've seen my dog. Dryfus II has been missing for two weeks and I thought he might have come back here." Angry, she pushed the door open so she could see inside the house.
"Oh, yeah, like this would be his favorite hiding spot because last time he and I crossed paths was such a lovely event." In fact she still had the scar tissue on her ass. Pushing Barbara back, Sophia grabbed the door. "I tell you what, I see your dog again, I'll call you before I call the Korean place, that way you can have a five minute head start. Now, get out of the way, I'm expecting someone important, like may be a Jehovah's Witness or something." Slamming the door shut, Sophia stalked back to her bedroom.
Once inside, she grabbed the coat off the dummy and draped over her shoulders. "Like hell you'll see that dog again." Picking up the German Shepherd skin hat, she put it on her head. Wagging the tail around her neck, she cackled.
