"HADES!"

Demeter's voice rang out ahead of her as she stalked across the courtyard from her temple to that of Zeus, searching out a different brother. he had awoken with a cold vise around her heart, a feeling she knew all too well when her daughter was taken from her, taken away to the land of the dead by Hades.. the thief. But it was too early! too early for her to go.. it wasn't his turn yet. He was going to pay for this.

He was really going to pay.

She barged into the temple, waving a hand at the first person who tried to stop her, calling out again fro her brother.

"HADES.... Where are you. Where is she?!?"

Much like his sister, Hades had woken with an icy chill around his heart and the familiar feeling that something very important to him wasn't there. He couldn't feel Persephone's presence; reaching out for it was like grasping at air.

Which meant she wasn't there. Which meant someone had taken her. And while Hades could compile a list of who might try to steal his wife away from him, he had a pretty good idea who his prime suspect was.

Because of that, he was rather surprised to find Demeter in Zeus' temple, shouting his name at the top of her lungs and demanding to know where her daughter was.

With a frown etched onto his face, Hades headed down one of the wide, white corridors to confront Demeter. "I was going to ask you the same question, sister," came his reply. "What have you done with her?"

"Me? ME? How Dare you ask me that... Where is she?"

She turned on him as he came into sight, eyes bright with anger and fear as she moved toward him quickly. His words chilled her... Why would he ask her the same question? the only answer possible was that he had her. She didn't even want to consider another possibility. She clung to her righteous anger, hands balled up as she launched herself bodily at him, fists pounding at his chest.

"You have her... you have to, you bastard, and it's not your turn yet! You have to have her, Hades... Give her BACK."

"Yes, you. I left Persephone in your company, in your care. Between the two of us, you were the last one to see her, Demeter. You cannot pin this on me."

Of course, that didn't mean she wouldn't try. Why not? He was, after all, the horrible, despicable god who made her daughter a queen. If that wasn't a reason to hate him, what was?

Hades clamped his fingers around Demeter's wrists. "I don't have her," he replied sternly. "If I had Persephone then she would be here and if she was here, we wouldn't be discussing her disappearance."

And with his words it came over her like a wave, the guilt - he was right. She was left in her care. Forget that Persephone was a queen in her own right, and long since grown... she had let something happen to her baby. Her arms went limp as he gripped her hands, fear overtaking the anger in her eyes and voice as she looked up at him, quieter now.

"Hades. Brother... you have to. If you don't, what could have happened? Where is she? I can't feel her anywhere."

It felt, almost exactly, like when she'd first lost her to her brother so long ago. She couldn't lose her again.. not like that.

Yes, where was Persephone? Out of all the gods on Olympus and below it, the two of them should have known. And yet they didn't, they couldn't even feel her presence anymore.

"I don't know where she is," Hades replied, taking his hands away from Demeter's wrists. Persephone wasn't dead, but that knowledge would do little to quell his sister's anxieties. After all, it wasn't working on his.

Someone else had taken Kore. She couldn't just disappear, not without telling them, she wouldn't, and so that only left abduction. But then who would abduct her? Why? No one could take over Underworld throne, so it was unlikely that someone would use her to bargain with him, and Demeter had nothing to offer-

Cronus. Cronus had said that something bigger than them was involved in the outcome of the power switch. He'd wanted to out it, make its actions visible to them all...

Its actions were certainly visible now.

A sick feeling surged from the pit of his stomach and he dug his nails into his palms. Whatever this "it" was, it had his wife.

"We need to call a meeting. Now."

"A meeting? To find Persephone?"

She blinked at him in surprise, not at all understanding how he got from point A to point B.

"What good would that do? And who would meet... We don't even have 12 to sit. Do you think someone knows something?"

She bit her lip, sure he knew something, and not at all used to asking anything from her brother.

"Hades. Please."
